Very clean, modern spot, a friendly family business! We had two chicken dishes- the karaage thighs, and a yakitori bento, and both were great! Plentiful, freshly fried (we were a little late, they have 2pm closing but they served us cheerfully). Service was amazing, and the other customers seem to be regulars! When the server had a moment, she told us that this is a Japanese franchise, and they also serve some of mom's special sides, which they have on a digital list. That's going to be our go to next time we are in town. What a find!!!

I first discovered Minit Stop on Maui, as my coworker told me about Minit Stop, and how good the Frrrrrrried Chicken was at this convenience store. Fast forward to the Big Island, and one day while I was driving out to Kapa'au, I noticed a Minit Stop and the way. Since then, several Minit stops have popped up all over the Big Island, and the Minit Stop I went to in Hilo (most recently), I must stay this convenience store was quite spacious, and beautiful. Located just across the street from the KTA Super Store along Puainako, you can easily find this Minit Stop. The Minit Stop convenience store has your standard stuffs like - drinks, fast food & snacks, toiletries and of course their FAMOUS Frrrrrrried Chicken! Stopped in for a 3 piece box, where you get a drumstick & two thighs. With the 3 piece box, you also get some giant deep fried potato wedges. What can say about da grub? For fast food Frrrrrrried Chicken, I list them up there with my favorites like - Popeye's, Pioneer Chicken, Zippy's, & Vons Chicken. Minit Stop version can rival a lot of fast food Chicken joints, as their Frrrrrrried Chicken was on point. Service here was fast & friendly. One thing on my end (which I dropped the ball on) was not requesting for some napkins, & a few packets of ketchup for my potato wedges. Lol! In da mood for Frrrrrrried Chicken? Give Minit Stop a try!

The fries were made-to-order and were piping hot when we received them. The outside of each fry had a nice crisp to it and the inside was very fluffy. None of the fries ate oily. We opted to have Italian sausage and red marinara sauce over the fries. The sausage was well-seasoned, and I especially liked the strong fennel flavor. The cold marinara sauce is ladled over the hot fries, resulting in a warmed up sauce that's enjoyable to eat. For the pizza, I appreciate the use of large pineapple chunks that were neither too sour, nor too sweet. The crust is on the thinner side and has a good chew to it. The pizza is baked a bit on the pale side and could spend a bit more time in the oven, but the taste was there. They definitely use a generous amount of mozzarella cheese on their pizzas here. Overall, I would take Frankie's Pizza over a pizza from a chain any day.
