As Jim Carey once said "I CAN'T LIEEEEEE" and so here goes, the place I wanted to love so much,…read morewhich turned out to be a monumental disappointment and for this reason, I will speak the truth and nothing but the truth. I don't like to blow my own trumpet nor do I like the smell of my own farts, however, I do think I know what an authentic pizza looks like. After all I have eaten literally thousands off them (I am a self confessed pizzaholic). One of the most important things about making a good pizza is having a wood fired oven. It really does add so much flavour to the pizza, so when I heard these guys had the real deal, I was salivating at the prospect of getting my hands on my own slice of Napoli. After paying the tenner or so for my Margherita with peperoni and aubergine I was instantly appalled by the appearance of my pizza. Not very appetising to say the least (please see photie for evidence). First of all it was dusted in polenta, giving it that Dominoes / Papa Johns style texture, my aubergine was cut up in cubes and put on top RAW meaning I had uncooked aubergine (the worst uncooked veggie ever) and it was absolutely swimming in cheese. Why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, does everyone have to over-cheese their pizza, AAArrrrggghhhh!!!! Its so annoying. Anyway, deep breaths, I can do this, stay calm now..........just get to the end of the review and have a wee lie down...... The fact of the matter is, less is actually more, you don't need half a block of cheese to make a pizza taste good. It just adds an extra 500cal to the meal and leaves me bloated as hell that's all. Good quality ingredients and good olive oil, that is what you need. Right, I think you get the picture and I've probably said enough. The reasons there are no photos of pizza on their website should have been a warning. Rant over, buona notte......

Been back again tonight. In addition to all the things I said before…read more They have an outside seating area. They also now have an alcohol lisence. The new menu is a bit more expensive around 9 - 12 for a 12" pizza. The pizza is still as good. They now have a healthy living plus award, which I assume is better than a regular award. And they deliver as far as East Kilbride and Barrhead.

Recently refurbished and relaunched as Toni's Pizzeria, the former Pizza Couture/Italmania was…read moresomewhere I'd passed by at least a million times but had never visited. Why?! I hear you ask. Well, a few reasons. I'm not the biggest pizza eater - I'll happily eat it and we make a great homemade pizza, if I do say so myself. And when the mood hits, we tend to go out for dinner rather than order takeaway. But yesterday was different. I was really tired, fueled only on caffeine and sugar and by the time dinner time arrived even the idea of putting something from the freezer in the oven seemed too much effort. I used this amazing device called "the internet" to order pizza (don't laugh, I've never ordered takeaway online before) from Toni's. I went for artichoke, fresh tomato and parmesan on mine, whereas Graeme went for chicken and smoked bacon. I liked that you had free reign over choosing your toppings. I couldn't see an option for set toppings like most places have but that didn't phase me as I liked being able to ask my taste buds what they fancied. My order was submitted at 7.06pm and the computer told me I would be eating my pizza by 7.55pm. Seemed reasonable enough to me, but thankfully the pizza guy was early and arrived at 7.40pm. Woohoo! So, how did the pizzas look? Well I was pretty damn impressed - they had a lovely puffy crust and the toppings were generous and fresh. When I dived in mouth first I was really impressed by the taste and honestly couldn't think of how they could be improved. These are some of the tastiest pizzas I've tried and will definitely be returning to sample more of their menu (they also offer pasta, burgers and sandwiches). The price seemed reasonable (but as you'll know by now, I am a novice in the takeaway area) - two medium pizzas with 3/2 toppings each came to just over £20 including delivery.

It was one of my best online discoveries (and bonus - you can order on line when you leave town and pick it up as you get off the train). They have a good menu with plenty of veggie choices, a couple of my favourites the Riviera - tomato, mozzarella, black olives, mushroom, pepper and oregano or the simple Basil - tomato, mozzarella, topped with beautiful fresh leaves of basil and black pepper. This one starts at £5.70 for a 12inch pizza, which is pretty good value! You can also add a range of toppings to their wide choices, meaning you can have the perfect pizza. The pizza's are thin, usually with a crisp base however I have had a couple that were a little soggy in the middle. This is probably the one's with wetter toppings. As the bases are so thin, they are not as heavy or filling as a more American style pizza would be. I imagine this is why their smallest size is 12 inches. I find 12 inches is a bit much for one, the large size size is a nice amount between two for a proper dinner. As much as the pizza is brilliant, the sides have much less to rave about. There aren't many on the menu, but personally I wouldn't bother with them again. Not awful but nothing special. They staff are friendly, it's pretty fast service. You can see them making your pizza by hand, and fire it in the proper pizza oven. Think this is why they always have such a lovely crust! If you're in the area I'd definitely advise swinging by.

I have recently moved to…read morethis area after 28 years in pollokshields,a place not short of places to eat, especially curry,i quickly rooted out shaheds ( in pollokshaws rd) as being head and shoulders above the rest, quality, and quantity of meat was consistently good,no chewy lamb appearing ,nice tender chicken, sauces were not the usual generic " Glasgow curry" style i.e. blended onions, tomatoes with a few bits added at end, each dish tasted different. Coupled with the fact that the place was immaculately clean, and the service was unfailingly personal, cheerful, pleasant whether delivered or bought in shop. I existed on the set meals for some time, keeping half for next day,i don't get anywhere near the amount of takeaways that I did then, but it's good to have options when that urge consumes you,the unmistakable craving for something so tasty that only a really good curry will do,and its my opinion, based on considerable experiience thst small outlets like this are far superior than actual restaurants. They also do excellent kebabs, burgers, real chicken fillet I and lots of it,great chips, pizzas which I can't comment on. So,having lived here for 9 months, why did I not know that a shaheds was 5 mins from my house,i do now. First delivery was the hilariously titled set meal for one,see photo, 10.50 includes poppadum, spiced onion, any curry,,rice or Nan,mixed pakora as pictured, hefty portion with plenty of chicken, not padded out with veg as is common, curry which must have had 2 chicken fillets in it,so much, delivered with the cheery ,and prompt, service that I know from old, same in shop,on phone, nice people, good food, good price, yelpers must know about this,I've made it my business to ensure they do as although I'm a newbie helper, that's what yelp seem,to me,to be about, local knowledge shared to make it easier for locals to find what they are after, for me,i think a spicy chicken fillet burger might be next up,saw one getting grilled the other day, looks fabulous. Wonder what im going to find next time i venture south on the 38 bus

Their pizzas are really fantastic (I'd go here before going to any of the bigger pizza chains in the area) and their pasta dishes are better than the average Italian takeaway. We do tend to stick to our favourite dishes but we've never had a bad experience with the food from here. The only reason it's not getting 4 stars is because since they moved to the bigger shop on Kilmarnock Road, the home delivery service has been pretty ropey. It is just round the corner but y'know, sometimes you don't want to go out for food and we do get home delivery quite a lot. After having phoned in orders many times, they got a new phone system that didn't recognise my home number (I'm ex-directory but I don't think that should cause a problem these days?) and therefore they were unable to take our order over the phone. When we went round and the guy realised it was us, he was really apologetic but I haven't tried to order by phone since. We order online now but we do still get some problems. One time we had the delivery driver on the phone claiming he was buzzing our buzzer when he wasn't - I even walked down three flights to the close door to check because he was adamant he was at the right address and actually arguing with me on the phone about where I lived. I'd say their delivery service is a bit hit or miss, but if you can call in yourself then it's one of the better takeaways in Shawlands.
