The Seoul Station - Pickled daikon and carrots that comes with the chicken.

I'm so stoked to have discovered The Seoul Station. They opened around December 2022 and are a…read moreghost kitchen inside of Dhruvees. You've heard of Korean Fried Chicken? Well, they sell a healthier version: Korean Oven Roasted Chicken! And it's amazing!! My husband and I shared a small order of the Boneless Crispy Spicy Chili Oven Roasted Chicken ($19, for 10 pieces), Signature Oven Roasted Fries ($6) and an Individual-sized Dakgalbi (spicy chicken) pie ($5). I called the restaurant to place my order for pick-up. The man answering the phone was very friendly and helpful (and had a pleasant "radio voice" lol) and advised me my order would be ready in 30 mins. I arrived in 30 minutes and my order was waiting for me. The chicken was delicious! It was breaded and was crispy on the outside but moist and tender on the inside. The pieces were a mix of white and dark meat. The flavouring was good, it was mildly spicy, but had a bit of a funky parmesan cheese smell to it that I wasn't crazy about, but despite this, I still enjoyed it. I will try other flavours next time. They have unbreaded varieties too. The chicken came with a tiny serving of pickled daikon radish and carrots. The veggies were crunchy and had a mild pickled taste. The fries were equally delicious! I couldn't believe they were oven roasted. They were lightly battered/breaded and were so crispy. They had chili seasoning on them and had a mild spicy kick. They rank among the top 3 non-deep-fried fries I've ever had in my life! If you're missing the air-fried fries from the now defunct "Hushh!" Restaurant, give The Seoul Station's fries a try ;) I love fusion/creative dishes, so I had to try the Dakgalbi pie. It's like chicken pot pie and Dakgalbi got together and had a baby, lol. The individual-sized pie is so cute. The crust was flakey and buttery and the filling was ground chicken with vegetables and spicy seasonings. I'm glad I tried it, but it definitely played second fiddle to the chicken and fries. We also got 3 sauces with our order. One was marked for Dakgalbi pie, which was creamy and a bit spicy and we actually used it for the chicken and fries. The other sauces were "chili mayo" and "Chef Min's secret chili sauce." Oddly enough, I did not find the secret chili sauce all that spicy. It was like a mild creamy sauce with vegetables in it. The chili mayo was as you would expect, a spicy mayonnaise. I'm always looking for healthier versions of my indulgences and french fries and fried chicken are up there with my favourite foods that I know are bad for me, lol. So I'm happy to have discovered healthier renditions that are just as delicious! They are in the Beechwood area, so parking was a bit of a pain, since it's street parking only. However, I'm willing to overlook that because I really enjoyed the food.

I noticed this place open a few days ago and dropped in at lunch a few days later…read more The place looks like it's still being renovated but looks decent so far. I looked around and I thought you could only get a large order of fried chicken and was about to walk out the door but after asking about it the person working mentioned a lunch special. It's 5 pieces of boneless fried chicken, fries and 1 can of pop for $12.99. They really need a better lunch special but I decided to go with this. 10 minutes later and I had my lunch special and was out the door. I wasn't asked how I wanted the chicken and I did see 3 sauces on the counter. They did toss some seasoning on it before packing but I didn't get a good look at it. I decided to try it as is. I got home and was excited to try this. Chicken pieces weren't small but weren't large either. They seemed a bit bland but the fries were well seasoned and really crispy. The chicken was pretty crispy as well. Overall it was OK, probably one of the better fried chickens in the area. If you have a craving, give this place a try but there's a few places in town I do enjoy more. They did just recently open so they might still be working out the kinks. I'll probably head back another time in the future. If you have a fried chicken craving and are in the area, give this place a try! If you get it sauced let me know how it is!

It's my first foray into Korean fried chicken and I wasn't exactly disappointed but I wasn't exactly "wowed" either. I got the Golden Cheese chicken pieces, a small order. The cheese is a combination of real grated cheese (unsure of the kind, sorry) and Kraft Dinner (?) powder. I think it is a generous amount of chicken for a small order, I think I was served 10 various pieces for $21.99 + tip. I know that it is considered 'pricey' but these aren't small Buffalo chicken wings. They're decent sized drumsticks, actual wings, etc.. I could not finish it and will be bringing the leftovers home for my boyfriend to try. I would go back to try the "Golden Mustard" flavour/sauce, so I am not writing "Golden One Fried Chicken" off just yet.

The Long Version: Freshslice Pizza is a Canadian chain founded in British Columbia in 1999. It only recently expanded to Ottawa last year (2024). I find it similar to Pizza Pizza in quality. Their classic slices are $3.25 and premium slices are $3.75. I got a Hawaiian slice, which is considered a classic slice. It was on the small side and served in a paper bag with the crust side facing out. I feel they should have put it in the other way around so I could eat the slice while keeping it in the bag and not get my hands all greasy and dirty, but that might just be a personal quirk. I'm sure most people have no issues taking the pizza slice out of the bag entirely and holding it with their bare hands and eating it on the street like that, lol. The amount of toppings was ok, not generous but not stingy. The taste was very unmemorable though. I didn't find it anything special. But I guess for the price it's acceptable. I mean even bad pizza is still pizza, right? Haha. Service was courteous and efficient. Street parking only. Review #186 (2025)

I was interested to check it out...since it's pizza, let's be honest. The first time I came by, I. thought my friend was going to meet me here but he ended up at a different pizza spot so I had to delay it. When I was there, I thought some of the slices looked like they had nice colouring on them and would be back. A few days later we dropped by and saw they had a really nice unlimited toppings pizza special. We decided on the medium with unlimited toppings which was only $12. After 15 minutes or so, I was out the door with a new pizza. I got home, popped it open and it was still holding hot and fresh. No weird side effects from the walk. Toppings looked solid and so did the bake. I pulled a slice and had a bite. I have to say, not a fan but also not terrible. The bake looks good but it doesn't taste like the bake indicates. I'm unsure if they add malt or something to do the dough for the colouring cause it's not as crispy as the colour indicates. I'm not a fan of the pizza crust. As for the toppings, they're decent. Even though this pizza wasn't for me, you may really enjoy this type of crust! Give it a shot and report back
