We were greeted warmly and invited to sit wherever we wanted. We were hungry so we ordered a full meal. The salad bar was adequate but had everything it should. Our breadsticks came out promptly and were delicious. The pizza was a stuffed crust super supreme and it was perfectly made. Our server was lovely and treated us as if we were in her own home. Once we found out a rare Pizza Hut classic was going to be on our road trip route, we knew we had to stop! The nostalgia factor is off the charts, it's exactly the place we all remember, but I expected it to be old and run down and it isn't! The restaurant was incredibly clean, the tablecloths, carpets, chairs/booths, etc. were all clean and pristine (looked new, actually!). The restaurant is a spot on, down to the classic stained glass chandeliers and red cups. The service was amazing. The man who waited on us was so friendly and the service was quick too! I don't know if he's the owner or manager, but his top notch service was definitely that level! The food was phenomenal! I mean it's still Pizza Hut at the end of the day, but I can legitimately say it's the best Pizza Hut I've had in decades, and was outright just good pizza. I say this as a Chicagoan, it's not a statement I take lightly! You don't realize how much is lost when delivery is the only option. Hot from the oven to our table, the breadsticks and pan pizza we ordered were piping hot and perfectly crispy! If this location is on your route, don't miss it! I had low expectations and can honestly say this was a gem of our trip, and blew us away! Bravo! Almost ordered a New Yorker which they advertised at $13.99, what a gimmick. By the time I got to "place an order" the amount was much more. I closed the app - for good. A person can't place order without them shoving a request for a tip on the form in your face. Why is that really necessary? Why should I tip when I drive up to the window to retrieve my pizza? Pizza wasn't that great. The Buffalo chicken pizza was just weird. It tasted like a pizza of just banana peppers, vinegar, and a little chicken. And they didn't even slice our breadsticks! Which was a pain because we are staying at a hotel and we didn't have a knife for it. We picked up the pizza from the drive through window and I got really grossed out because the employee at the window did some fist bump hand to mouth shake with a guy behind the counter. I don't know what their food is like because they ignored us when we came in. Big signs saying " Dining Room is OPEN". We came in masked and stood at the Please Wait To Be Seated kiosk while several in the kitchen looked at us then turned their backs and ignored us. No one ever came to even acknowledge our presence. I lived on this stuff for a couple of months. I work at night and this town is tiny. Everything shuts down at 9pm. Pizza hut delivers until 10pm. The food was edible, mostly. It did it's job. Nothing more and nothing less. The orders were usually right. There were a couple of times that the order was missing a topping or bread sticks were not included. I've never been to a place where you take a 100 dlr bill and as a response says i cant take it. That is the dumbest thing I've heard. Pizza Hut. It is what it is. The food was good but not awesome. Typical national pizza chain food. I will say one thing about this restaurant in regards to the booths. Wow are the big. Not like they can seat more than 4 people big, but more of a "I hope you have long arms" big. The space between the two benches is quite generous. Too much so. But that is not really a complaint. My sister and i came here for dinner and the place was clean and the servers were very nice. The first pizza that they brought out we had to send back because it looked as though it had no cheese on it. They apologized and remade it with more cheese and took $15 off our order. It was really nice to eat at a place that cared about customer satisfaction. Notice the address of this location - 666. It is Pizza Hell. Avoid at all cost! In my opinion, if the Pizza Hut were located in a city that did not have an Interstate highway going through it to support it with consumers who are unaware of the poor service, it would not stay open. Most of my friends who live locally think the same thing about this place. Over the years, I have kept going back in hopes that it will improve because we do like their pizza. I will list some of the experiences we have had at this Pizza Hut: 1. We stood inside their door for 10 min or more with four kids, one being a baby that I was holding, waiting to be seated. Several waitstaff walked right by us. We finally walked out. 2. Pizza orders getting screwed up by the waitresses. Happened a couple of times. 3. Waitresses that disappeared after bringing our food. Drinks run out and nobody stops back to offer refills. 4. Many, many times - order breadsticks or other appetizers only to have them show up at the same time as the pizza. Sit there for 15 min waiting and have it all show up at once. Either the appetizers are cold from sitting, or the pizza gets cold while we eat the appetizer. 5. Finally gave up on dining in - so order take out. Sat at drive-thru for 10 min. waiting for someone to come to window. I could see a waitstaff leaning against a counter talking with someone in the back the whole time. 6. Call to order take-out. it is a crap shoot whether you will get anyone answering knowledgable enough to take an order. I am frugal and typically order when they offer special deals. They are often clueless about specials. 7. SO, I tried ordering online using their iPhone app. App totaled my bill up, I write a check that I intended to present at drive-thru, only to have them total up a different amount when I picked my pizza up. They get kudos from me for the food though. Their pizzas are almost always good - plenty of fresh toppings and taste good. I am not a hard-ass when it comes to service as I know sometimes people can have a bad day, people don't show up for work and the rest of the staff can get overloaded, etc - and will always give a place the benefit of the doubt if we experience less than stellar service once or twice. But this place is almost 100% consistent with lousy service. What is most odd is I believe the Pizza Huts in Tomah, Sparta, and maybe Neillsville are owned by the same guy. We have never had a bad experience at these other locations. We often drive to these other locations, driving 15-30 miles out of the way, to eat at a GOOD Pizza Hut when this one is right in our own hometown. I pray for the day that another pizza chain (Pizza Ranch, anyone? Hint, hint!) comes into Black River Falls and drives this place out of business. It will only take a month. They only earn the 2nd star from me because of the consistent quality of their food. It pains me to give it to them, but I want to be fair. read more
