I last reviewed this place in October 2020, since then I have become more and more of a regular, and this Pizza Express branch on King Street has truly impressed me to the point I wouldn't go anywhere else in Manchester for pizza now, they deliver one of the truly good gluten-free pizzas around, not only that but this place also stands out compared to other Pizza Express branches, in terms of service and food quality, this is not just one of the best places to grab a pizza in the city (at a competitive price) but one of the best Pizza Express branches in the country.
The staff are super friendly here, much more than you'd expect from your average chain Italian, they have begun to remember my face and order, even the Chefs say Hi, as I sit next to the open kitchen.
My current favourite order is the Pollo Pancetta
This is described as "Chicken, crispy Italian pancetta, tomato with garlic, red & yellow roasted peppers, mozzarella and parsley"
I feel all the flavours complement each other very well, making a pizza that isn't just visually appealing but one that tastes great too.
The gluten-free selection here is pretty good, including a small number of other dishes such as penne pasta.
They do have a nice selection of spirits including Bacardi Rum and Kettel One vodka, I would like to see a better range of cocktails however as it always works out a tad expensive ordering a double spirit mixer.
The gluten-free dough balls are normally cooked well, with a generous helping of garlic butter.
PRO TIP: Complete a Pizza Express survey based on your experience, and you get your next portion of dough balls (RRP £4.50) for FREE! Better yet, you can use this with other promotions too such as Tesco Clubcard Boost or Unidays 30% off for students.
The restaurant looks and feels good, the service is good, the food is good, so an upgrade to the full five-stars is certainly deserved. read more
