We had really good time here. The biggest problem was to book, but once you find a slot, everything is easy-peasy. The pizzas a just great, very reasonably priced, and the service is just superb!! They also have outdoor heaters, which is always a bonus!

The remains of my very hard to eat pizza with a smattering of buffalo mozzarella.
Umesh J.

Don't get the margerhita pizza with buffalo mozzarella. Half the pizza won't have cheese and your paying 2.50 extra for it. Really wish they cut the pizza for you. So hard to eat. Pizza was really soggy. Chili honey was good, but they could give me half as much and charge half as much and it would still be plenty. Wine was good for the price. Was disappointed overall given the strong reviews. I guess I'm in the minority here.

I'd heard plenty of praise for Rudy's, including claims of it being some of the best pizza in Manchester. I've tried plenty of good places so I didn't really take much stock in this until I gave it a try myself. It's in Ancoats, but in a quiet section off a modern square, seemingly away from everything else. It's an unassuming small shop front, with a little blackboard outside saying to come in and try the pizza. I always listen to little blackboards. Rudy's has gone one step further than the general Northern Quarter style of decorating. Instead of bare brick and filament lightbulbs, Rudy's is wholely industrial, with unfinished concrete walls and floors and floodlight uplighters. Seating is made from a solid wood construction built against the walls, as indicated by marker tape and spraypaint which is still in place. Other tables are more traditionally modern, as well as bar seating. As you walk in, you see a seating area on the left, along with bar seating around the kitchen prep area, where you see the pizza being hand made, and shovelled into the giant flaming pizza oven. If you progress further back, you find more seating including bigger tables, and modern artwork on display for both enjoyment and purchase. The menus and a chalkboard on the wall explain the ethos behind Rudy's style of pizza, classic Italian Neapolitan pizza from Naples, made by enthusiasts. Dough is made on site and proved for 24 hours before being cooked for just 60 seconds. They explain that this means the pizza is 'floppy', not crispy like American style pizza, and so can't be ordered "thin and crispy" or "deep pan". They recommend using a knife and fork to eat it, which might send some people into meltdown, but if the experts say that's how to do it, just give it a try. It was also an interesting aspect to see that the venue appears to be dog friendly. A dog sat on a man's lap at the bar seating, and another sat under the bench on the table next to us, as a member of staff brought it a bowl of water. I personally love this, but I imagine some people might find it uncomfortable. The menu is simple, showcasing the traditional pizza options that Rudy's wants to present, including the option to have a 'white pizza' which is without the usual tomato base. The menu also offers some smaller nibbles, and has a good wine, beer, and general drinks offering. I opted for the Prosciutto Cotto, which is tomato, fior di latte mozzarella, cooked ham, basil, oregano, sea salt, parmesan and garlic oil. All wholesome traditional ingredients, no modern additions like BBQ sauce or pineapple or pulled pork here. Staff are young friendly types, being both professional whilst still remaining casual and relaxed in style. The pizza was really good. Fantastic flavours with really fruity tomato and top quality tasting ingredients. The base was soft as promised and rustic, but also thoroughly delicious. This was a hand-made, 14 inch, fresh, Naples style pizza made to order, in the city centre of Manchester, for less than 8 quid. It was superb, filling, and genuinely on a par (if not better) than pizza I tried when in Rome and Florence! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a great lunch or dinner, and I will most definitely return. Benissimo, Rudy's!

Incredible white pizza

Pizza Paradise! This place is a little gem - you could tell it was going to be good as soon as you walked in. They have a huge open kitchen with the centre point being a stone fired pizza oven. It was also jam packed on a Tuesday evening so that was another tell tail sign! Initially when we walked in they said there were no tables available but gave us the option to wait while having a beer, so we went for that! After about 30 seconds of waiting our table was available. The seat was great, we had a good view of the kitchen and the craft beer fridge which made it easier for us to pick our drinks. I went for the Runaway Pale Ale (a perfect beer for a pizza). For grub I choose the Ancozzese, white pizza topped with spinach and Italian Sausage. This was my first ever white pizza and I have to say it was an absolute delight. it kind of reminded me of a pancake, in a good way, I loved how you could taste the dough which sometimes isn't the case when you have a tomato based pizza. The topping were great but we sprinkled on some extra chili flakes for that added kick. The Ancozzese is an absolute bargain for £8.50 - it's filling and flavorsome, what more could you want? Easy five stars!

Cabrese Pizza

Great pizzas - perfect Neapolitan style, and very true to form. I went for the Cabrese for the spicy Nduja sausage; it's hard to go wrong with a bit of spice on a pizza, and this tasted great! The other toppings are Fior di Latte soft cheese, tomato, basil, and the flavours of the sausage just melt into the rest of the toppings. My friend ordered the Prosciutto Cotto, which I sampled a slice, and I actually preferred - it must have been the pizza's namesake: Prosciutto Cotto (cooked ham). Certainly good quality ham. Rudy's is very popular and gets very busy - we had to wait 45-60 minutes to get a table, but they took my number, and we were able to enjoy a beer in the Seven Bro7hers Beerhouse before returning to Rudy's for the pizza. My only critique is about the service because it was busy - it seemed to have an attitude that slow service is accepted because it was always busy and popular - hence the four stars rather than the five stars. Nonetheless, i will return, just for the Prosciutto Cotto. I just hope the service picks up the pace; my pet peeve is inattentive service and constantly trying to get attention of the waiters/waitresses.

thin crispy classic pizza

Headed to Rudys on a Thursday evening, it's only just opened but the place is packed. Tables full with a steady flow of customers. The venue is industrial but trendy with it, Hockney hanging on the walls and pictures of Ancoats back in the day. The service was really good, friendly and quick. The pizzas are cooked in a traditional pizza oven so they taste authentic italian! Thin and crispy bases. We had the special with artichokes, ham, olives on a tomato base and also tried a white pizza base with Tuscan sausage, wild broccoli and chilli. Both were really tasty and full of flavour. The drinks selection was fab with special beers and good soft drinks. The price was really reasonable, and way cheaper than pizza chains! Will definitely be back!

Had an enjoyable meal at Rudy's, whilst nothing was fundamentally wrong with my experience, it wasn't quite the perfection I expected based on previous reviews. However, I am giving 5 stars based on the overall experience, value, and for thinking outside of the (pizza) box. I like the location. City centre but not quite. Perfectly walkable from Piccadilly in minutes but also free parking in the street after 6PM. The restaurant has a somewhat industrial feel with some bare plaster, high ceilings and exposed wiring & plumbing. I assume this is intentional! The menu is fantastic and reasonably priced. I had to try a white pizza for something different, and whilst it was good, I'd probably go for something more conventional next time. The only addition I'd like to see to the menu would be a seafood option. Despite the pizza being quite delicious, when it came to paying the bill, we were given a £1 discount off each pizza because, apparently, the chef was not happy with the pizza dough! Some nice beers available too. And soft drinks at a reasonable price. I'll definitely go back and try more of their menu options. The waiting staff were efficient though not overly attentive. I think an easy improvement would be for the waiting staff to have some kind of uniform even if only a black t-shirt. Rather than random items of knitwear!!

Ever feel like pizza - and more generally good food - is too expensive in Manchester? Well, that's because it is. Put simply Rudy's do the best pizza in MCR for almost half the price - how? They're not greedy. The dough is soft and melt in the mouth, the toppings are simple, fresh and tasty and most importantly of all, it's not greasy! There's Geart and Graft coffee/Ancoats Coffee Co on offer long with a selection of bottles craft beers. There's absolutely no reason not to go and live here, like I now do!

You know what - 5 stars! Definitely 5 stars! *Great cool location taking you somewhere slightly off the beaten track but still very city centre. *Amazing food - the bianca sausage and broc pizza was off the hook! *Decent craft beer selection from local ale makers. *Lovely staff, friendly service, efficient and quick. *Cool minimalist surroundings *Fantastic tunes I actually can't wait to go back - somewhere I'm gonna shout about from the rooftops!

I'm so happy for the guys at Rudy's pizza. After trying their amazing pizza earlier this year at a pop up at North Tea Power, I have been a fan! Their place in Ancoats is great. Minimalist decor certainly does the trick - they focus on what they're good at, and that is making outstanding pizzas. I ordered the Margherita pizza, in my opinion it's the way you can tell a good pizza. It was baked on a sourdough base with amazing leoparding from the open wood-fire oven. The tomato sauce was tangy and the mozzarella stringy and fresh. Faultless.

Portobello tomato base with Tuscan sausage

After failing miserably to get a table on their launch night (what were we thinking?), it was a couple of months later that we finally got to try out the pizzas everyone seemed to be raving about - and as you can guess, we weren't disappointed. Warmly welcomed, our large group were seated towards the back at a table with bench seating. It's a quirky layout at the moment, almost a U-shape with the wood-fired oven in the middle and dining space around it. It wasn't clear whether the long, unused 'corridor' back to where the toilets are was eventually going to become additional dining space (which they need given their popularity) or remain as a temporary waiting area for customers. The menu is concise with around nine pizzas available (some are tomato-based; others are white sauce-based). We all ordered beers from local brewery Runaway. My Portobello tomato-based with Tuscan sausage arrived after not too long a wait (despite there being 10 of us) and it was HUGE and delicious - larger than Honest Crust's pizzas in Altrincham Market House but equally tasty. Rudy's are better value for money at less than a tenner. Burgers are starting to lose their appeal for me in the city at the moment - it's time for amazing, freshly prepped pizzas to take the crown for a while and you can bow to your new ruler on Cotton Street in Ancoats. Long may they reign.

There has been a lot of hype surrounding this place so I was excited when I finally got the opportunity to try it out. We found it tricky to track down as I'm not really familiar with the area but it was worth looking for! It was a Saturday evening so we had prepared ourselves for the fact there would be a wait but considering how popular this place is it was only 20 minutes. We waited in a seating/corridor area at the back of the restaurant and we were really taken care of, we ordered drinks which only took minutes to arrive and were shown menus. The thing I loved most was how simple the concept is. The menu is short and concise and uses quality ingredients to create amazing pizzas. I love that they have white pizzas (no tomato sauce) as it challenges the idea of typical pizza. The food is so reasonable and drinks even more so. A bonus for me was the Aperol Spritz on the special board, I am a huge fan and knocked back three with no problems what so ever! The ice-cream is from Gingers Comfort Emporium and the vanilla is the best ice-cream in the world, so creamy and perfect after a huge pizza. The food all came so fast and the service was relaxed and friendly. The décor is minimalistic but comfortable at the same time. It works perfectly with the concept to create a relaxed atmosphere. The hype wasn't wrong, big fan!

We called into Noi Quattro for lunch after a friend recommended it, and found the place completely deserted. I've no idea why it was so quiet, but it is tucked a little out of the way and I suspect the nearby Mackie Mayor swallows up a lot of passing trade. The venue is large and modern, very nicely decorated. We were seated in the window which gave us a great view. The menu had a good variety of pizzas on it (several of which catered to vegans) and there were a couple of specials up on the board... I went for a mushroom pizza, Sparky went for an anchovy and olive one. Both were really delicious and we washed them down with a couple of beers. Pizzas here are truly authentically neapolitan - let's be honest, most people will compare these pizzas with those offered by Rudy's, and they are easily on the same level. I gave Rudy's 5 stars, and I'm giving Noi Quattro 5 stars too. The pizzas are really delicious and I really don't understand why people weren't queueing out of the door here like they do at Rudy's.

The pizzas were all well cooked and full of flavour. I particularly liked the base. The waiter was especially lovely to our 3 year old kid and went out of his way to talk to him about what he'd been up to today. The place was bright and airy and it had a good feel to it. There was one table with four swings around it. There's plenty of regular seating too. I'd definitely come again for a pizza fix.

Having been impressed by their Prestwich branch, where I most recently awarded it a three-star rating (previously a four!), I decided to try this out after stumbling across Croma on UberEATS. Originally the app didn't allow me to specify gluten free - this is something which needs addressing however after a quick call with the store, the manager seemed friendly to assist and make sure my order was gluten-free and I could still get my food. The restaurant its self is an impressive old building, it is up a couple of steps to get in - which could be a problem for some. I ordered a Gluten Free Americana pizza, the pizza its-self was quite good quality, the passata was a little runny at times but overall the pizza was a decent pizza, especially for gluten-free, much beating most other takeaways I could have had including Domino. The overall prize was good too for delivery, my pizza came delivered the short half a mile journey to the Hilton Manchester Deansgate for £11, the delivery free was set by UberEATS and cost around £2.50 in that total. The pricing for eating in, however, is pretty much average, with it being a small restaurant they lack the offers which bigger chains do, meaning it could work out slightly more expensive than rivals, including (but not limited to) Bella, Pizza Express and Zizzi. The menu selection is pretty good too, if you like pizzas but maybe not so much for everything else. is this somewhere I'd order from or visit again? Yes, and it does definitely warrant a solid three-star rating, issues with pricing when dining inside, selection other than pizza including starters and sides, and the access issues mean I sadly don't feel I can go any higher than a score which would match Croma's other branch I've visited in Pretswich, of three-stars.

The pizzas (mine was the Vulcano) came with circular pizza cutters, which I am not a fan of, but each to their own. The actual dough, despite being Neapolitan style, was slightly under-cooked, and overall my pizza could have done with an extra 3-4 minutes in the oven. The tomato sauce was watery and the cheese could have been mixed more with the pizza. I'll return for a drink, but next time I'll give the pizza a miss.

Aw I really liked it here!…read more For some reason I got totally ravenous at around 2145 and started freaking out about all the restaurants closing and could only think of this one nearby that might still be open so basically kept saying "Dogs n Dough" "Dogs n Dough" over and over again until Rana M capitulated and escorted me to that over-mentioned establishment. Inside was very American but sort of authentically (although I can't really tell anymore). There's a lot of dark green leather and a Rolling Rock sign. Owner/manager impressed me by saying they would keep serving until at least 11pm basically to do more business. EXACTLY. THAT IS THE CORRECT ATTITUDE. No hipster prancing about looking-moody-instead-of-serving-people-here. My small business heart was deeply gratified. Our server was also excellent, quick and attentive. They have what I will boldly declare as the best strawberry ice cream milkshake in Manchester and also a great looking list of cocktails that are £4.50 during happy hour and can be eaten alongside various delicious snacks. Food wise, the dogs, as Andrew Y. mentioned, have a rather odd hard outer skin but I actually quite liked that. I didn't realise my burrito dog would actually come in a wrap, but it was pretty tasty. Next time I want the one with Doritos. Or the Reuben. There's a lot of choice. There is also a MAC N CHEESE PIZZA whaaaaat. Sides: onion rings were giant, and good, and chilli cheese fries were as always a delight. Do not come here if you are on a diet. I will obviously be back here ASAP. FYI all the dogs are 100% beef.

This time I made a point of finally going to visit. I like that at night it feels a bit secretive being down a little side street, then down into a basement restaurant. Inside feels reflective of being outside at night too, with theatrical lighting, neon signs, and dark wooden furniture. One thing about the decor I particularly liked was the cartoon drawing all over of various hot dogs. When I asked the staff about these, they apparently originate with a guy who travelled all around the USA trying the speciality hot dogs, then drawing them as posters. What a job! It's a good talking point and unique as a decoration, I'll say that much! The atmosphere is friendly and cosy, people laughing and chatting whilst trying bits of each others pizzas and hotdogs. The menu has great tongue-in-cheek names for their offered dishes, and in the drinks menu I was happy to see that there was a large selection of soft drinks available for those of us who don't drink, including imported US sodas that aren't easy to come by here. It's so nice to find somewhere doing soft drinks other than the standard Coke/Fanta/Sprite fountain guns. We chose a root beer and a Dr Pepper Cherry Vanilla (although a Pepsi Cherry Vanilla came out, we didn't realise until afterwards because it was still pretty damn tasty). You're also given a bottle of water per table so you can enjoy your drinks rather than feeling you've rushed them due to thirst. Staff were friendly and enthusiastic, as well as knowledgeable of their product and environment. We were told how things were served, the types of pizza, hot dog sausage types etc, and when we decided to order some fries to share instead of a starter, the guy serving us observed this and told us that if we wanted to share the hot dogs that we'd ordered, they could be cut in half in the kitchen so we could easier share. That's a nice idea for couples and friends, I like it. I was very much considering the mac bites as a starter, but thought it best not to overfill before the main! We ordered the Kiev Fries, which were cheese, garlic butter, and herb crumb. Very tasty, and genuinely did taste like chicken kiev which gave me a giggle. We both took ages to decide what to have for our main, and instead of pizza we decided to go for the hot dogs. I ordered Cheesus Christ Superstar (heh) which was three cheese and caramelised red onion chutney. I was a bit surprised that the cheeses in question were melted slices of cheese rather than a sauce or grated cheese, but it worked, although I think a bigger serving of the caramelised red onion chutney would be better to balance out the cheese with the sweet. My partner ordered The Cowboy, which was house chilli, nacho cheese, crispy bacon, jalapeños and sour cream. He tells me that although it was very tasty, and the beef frank was great in flavour, it could perhaps have done with a little extra chilli. However, we were both impressed, and it certainly didn't come close to breaking the bank. So for good quality hot dogs in a pleasant atmosphere for pretty damn good value, definitely give these guys a visit! We will definitely be returning to try the other hot dogs, the starters, the pizza menu, maybe some of the drinks and th...in fact... well.. lets just say we'll definitely be going back!

As we enter, a friendly staff member at the bar welcomes us and lets us choose from the menu, giving us some advice on the pizzas, and when we decide we want to share a pizza, he lets us know that we can even have half-and-half on a pizza, so we can try a couple of options. Great idea. What's even better is that we appear to have arrived during Happy Hour, meaning a 16 inch freshly made pizza was only £10! Bargain! We opted for half pepperoni (classic!) and half The Cuban. Both arrived in decent time, and were hot, fresh and tasty. I particularly liked that the base tasted toasted, and wasn't soggy in the middle with the toppings sliding off into a fatty pile or anything like you tend to get with a lot of pizza places. It wasn't greasy, it was full of flavour, and all the flavours worked together really well. I would DEFINITELY order this again! So although it was a fleeting visit, I was really impressed. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, surprisingly good prices for the Northern Quarter, and damn good quality pizza! Go! Go now!

Definitely a fun twist on pizza. The KFC was an unexpected delight. Light but flavorful…read more Cocktails were a bit small but that's my American speaking. Price was very reasonable. Service was polite and quick. Has a young, after work, hip dive bar vibe. Great place to meet up with friends.
