Chopstix is a pretty new addition to the choices available at Manchester Piccadilly for weary travellers. The concept is simple - you go in, pick from rice or noodles, choose from a selection of meat, pay, and go...
There isn't really a lot of choice available, a maximum of about seven or eight dishes, not including the noodles and rice. I went for the noodles and a combination of salt and pepper chicken and sweet and sour chicken.
One of the best bits is that you can choose up to three of the options, the downside to that is that all the options are chicken. Now, I've not got anything against chicken, it's all very well and good in its own way, but I do enjoy a little bit of variety. What I did have was ok, but nothing really that you'd write home about - quite a lot like your standard, run-of-the-mill, chinese takeaway.
Non of the dishes going to give you an authentic chinese street food experience, and some of the flavours are a little bit on the plain side. The ambience of the actual store feels a little rushed, but you can't really blame them for that when there are so many commuters around - we're well known for getting a bit short tempered when there's a chance that we might miss the train!
I suppose to summarise, what I'm trying to say is that this is a fine place if you're at the station, you don't fancy a burger from Burger King, and you're not in the mood for a sandwich from Pret. If you're looking for something more likely to tantalise your tastebuds, you'd do much better taking a 5 minute stroll to Piccadilly Gardens where you'll find Rice. read more
