This is a fabulous family Italian restaurant in Burnham…read more It opened around six months ago, and has around 30 tables. But already it is worth booking, because it has already become so popular. And here's why. The food is fantastic. The menu is wide, including all the normal Italian dishes you would expect from a good Italian restaurant, such as a variety of pasta, pizza, meat, and a couple of fish dishes. The pizza is home made from scratch and cooked in a wood fired pizza oven. Made with fresh ingredients, both kids and adults love them. The pasta is also home made, with a good range of sauces, such as bolognaise, seafood and penne arrabiate. If you like lasagne, they make one of the nicest I have ever had. Huge portion and so delicious. Tonight, we started with octopus and aubergine. The octopus came with a tomato sauce, on a bed of curried mashed potatoes. The aubergine was baked in a cheese sauce. For the main course, we had steak with a pepper sauce and vegetables, served in an attract wooden slab. And a chicken baked on a creamy gorgonzola sauce. Although we did not ask for it, the restaurant thought roast potatoes would be nice with the meal, so they brought us a portion on the house. We finished off with sticky toffee pudding. Unusually, not too heavy, coming with ice cream and cinnamon sugar, a great way to end. The food was perfectly cooked, and tasted exquisite. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. We went earlyish, so there were plenty of kids. The brought a very happy feel to the place. The staff were completely comfortable with it all. In fact, the restaurant is a place that seems laid back with just about anything. You can wear what you like, go for an intimate meal or go with a party of friends. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and warm. We have been a number of times. The meal generally costs between £30-£70 for two. Tonight, the meal cist £71 include bottle of Montpulcianno wine. Thoroughly recommended. If you go, you are in for a treat, with or without kids, alone or in a party. But you would be wise to book if you want to be sure you will not have to wait for a table.

Very impressed, as was la contessa. Four-course menu with a choice from 4 dishes for the first three thereof. A sort of overlarge fishcake that was stuck together with olive oil and subtly seasoned. Squid ink noodles with clams (squid ink pasta is great). *Calves liver with spinach. Melts in the mouth. All absolutely scrumptiliously delightful and the portions were not over-large, as they can often be in Italy. More 'nouvelle cuisine' size. The pudding course was a set mixture of 'bits and pieces'. I don't have a much of a sweet tooth and I have usually pigged out by then anyway, but this little collection was desperately pleasing upon the eye and the palate. The wines were reasonably priced for a place like that. £25 for a bottle of Chianti Classico, although it didn't fire me up like the one I had at the 'Old Devil Inn' for £18. (see separate review) I thought that the decor was a bit bland, but I tend to ogle plates rather than fellow diners or wallpaper. The staff were attentive and charming. The menu choice is extensive especially if you include all the pizza options and the price is good value for money. Have paid more for worse elsewhere and definitely better than the bigger chain Italian places which come in at the same price. We booked a table to make sure we could eat at that time and really glad we did as not a seat left in the place when we got there! That also tells a tale as it was a Wednesday night, mid-Olympics TV coverage and lots of places have been suffering but it didn't look like it here! Friendly staff looked after us well and the evening whizzed by. Good restaurant that deserves to do well.

This makes it easier for them to accommodate more people in a restricted space, but does entail getting pretty chummy with random strangers as you squeeze past them on your way in or out. On the other, other hand, the loo arrangements are, shall we say, unusual. There's one room with a sink for washing up, and then just stalls with a toilet each for "ladies" and for "gentlemen". It's a good use of space, but it wasn't designed for women to go to the loo in a gang so they can fix their makeup and gossip about their dates. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing depends on your perspective.

A good range of dishes with a lunchtime daily special. Short but not too expensive winelist. Had a simple meal with chums. Mine was a fish main dish which was good quality and nicely cooked. Chums pasta also looked above average. Bread was very good but arrived with main course. We had a pud, but I only had ice cream so can't comment on other choices. They were fully booked for the following day's Valentine celebrations and the waitress spent lots of time putting up decorations. Useful in the area.

We waited over 45 minutes for our main course to arrive on a lunchtime when it wasn't very busy. I enquired as to where our food was several times, only to be abruptly told by the manager that "IT IS COMING". When it finally did arrive, only 2 out of our 3 dishes arrived. I asked where my wife's dish was and was told "IT IS COMING SOON". When my wife's dish did arrive (fusilli as pesto), the pasta was completely undercooked. This is a dish that should only take about 3 minutes to prepare but even after 50 minutes it wasn't cooked correctly. We asked if it normally took that long to wait for a Fusilli al Pesto dish and was told by the manager, "Yes it is normal because of the cooking time for the fusilli". This is of course completely ridiculous and a total fob-off. It should have taken much less to cook than my chicken in breadcrumbs dish and in any event even a moderately decent restaurant times the cooking of every dish for the table such that you start cooking the dish that takes the longest first in order that all the diners on the same table can be presented with their food simultaneously. The manager obviously has complete contempt for his customers and thinks it is perfectly acceptable to fob them off as if they were stupid. Well it didn't work for me and we will most definitely not be returning. There are far better restaurants in Beaconsfield. Unless you want to wait a lifetime for your food or have a sudden urge to be treated as if you are stupid then this is definitely a place to avoid like the plague.
