Da Remo is known as a favorite haunt of some famous British actors including Sean Connery. The restaurant is a small Italian restaurant near Uxbridge, and is quite the find, particularly for an out of towner. Da Remo should certainly pride itself on the service it provides its guests. We had wonderful service - timely, without oppressing us with constant presence. For a large group that just showed up and surprised them, they handled us nicely and didn't have any problem serving the group and keeping up with our needs. When we had questions, they were good about explaining different menu items and helping us determine what we wanted to order. I had 3 courses with my meal - antipasti, the main course, and dessert. Everything I had was fantastic. The cannoli I ordered was incredibly good - the best I've ever had. My main course was a variant on chicken cordon bleu, and was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. I finished with the cheesecake (not NY style), which made a nice finish to the evening. I had the house red wine with my dinner and was quite pleased - it had a nice bouquet and finish, and paired well with my meal. Everything was perfect, which is difficult to pull off with a large group.

Many thanks to Discerning 1, whose review prompted me to track this place down. :-))…read more We checked it out last Sunday for the £25 per nose lunch package: a good way of testing an establishment. Very impressed, as was la contessa. Four-course menu with a choice from 4 dishes for the first three thereof. The dishes were not these, which I think is just a sample. http://www.campagna.caldesi.com/page.php?intPageID=44 I had: Crab and avocado. A sort of overlarge fishcake that was stuck together with olive oil and subtly seasoned. Squid ink noodles with clams (squid ink pasta is great). *Calves liver with spinach. Melts in the mouth. All absolutely scrumptiliously delightful and the portions were not over-large, as they can often be in Italy. More 'nouvelle cuisine' size. The pudding course was a set mixture of 'bits and pieces'. I don't have a much of a sweet tooth and I have usually pigged out by then anyway, but this little collection was desperately pleasing upon the eye and the palate. The wines were reasonably priced for a place like that. £25 for a bottle of Chianti Classico, although it didn't fire me up like the one I had at the 'Old Devil Inn' for £18. (see separate review) I thought that the decor was a bit bland, but I tend to ogle plates rather than fellow diners or wallpaper. The staff were attentive and charming. Now I look forward to the autumn: Tuscans do some rather interesting game dishes.

The restaurant was just starting to build a reputation before it was destroyed by fire in 2009. It re-opened in December after extensive renovation, and Windsor MP Adam Afriyie attended the official opening (using it as a platform to support his campaign to keep the Windsor Fire Station open). The menu is pure Italian (as are the owners!) and the service is exceptional. Charming waiters will go out of their way for kids & OAPs (as is often the case in small, family-run restaurants) and move mountains for large group-bookings. Chefs (also Italian) are accomplished, and the only criticism would be the lack of choices for dessert (though fresh hand-made Italian cakes & profiteroles are always on offer). Personally, I love the 'snug' feel and the attention we (my family) always get as customers. Highly recommended.

The little extras we asked for were happily provided. Menu wasn't just pizza and pasta but had some great Italian dishes on there also. Plus point when we were asked whether OK to use flour when frying the fish in case of any dietary restrictions. Usually nuts are pointed out but not gluten. I was impressed! Could see that there were a few regulars there also which is always a good sign to see people coming back again and again.
