Found this pizza place in an unexpected area. It certainly doesn't look like anywhere you would expect it to be as good. Pizza Di Farfalla is located in the back of a coffee shop in New Lenox. A kind of pretty strange setup but it's apparently popular enough. The prices are pretty crazy even for those artisan types of pizzas. Coming in here the first time it was confusing. It's actually in the same location as Gost Coffee Roasters. They usually have a sandwich board out front when they're open so just go in there. Go around to the back. There's a counter to order at and more seating. It's about $12 for the Garlic Knots. We got these and they were great for sharing. Bad thing is these are often sold out. That's no surprise because these are by far the cheapest thing. It's $20 or more for a pizza. These are just regular sized pizzas. Crazy prices to be honest. They may be good but it's way too much for this. Great pizzas as long as you can get past the high prices and running out of so many ingredients and items. It's closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Pizza Di Farfalla has been getting a lot of hype, so we had to see what the buzz was about. It's located inside Ghost Coffee--our favorite coffee shop in New Lenox--so right away the vibe is fun, light, and a little unexpected. (And yes, we obviously grabbed coffee too. It's impossible to step foot in Ghost without one of their top-tier drinks.) For food, we ordered the garlic knots and The Cade pizza (garlic, sausage, pepperoni, jalapeños). I added a side of Mike's Hot Honey for a sweet kick--not that it was necessary with the jalapeños, but it worked. The garlic knots were delicious, generously portioned, and a perfect warm-up. The pizza itself was beautifully presented and tasted just as good as it looked. One thing to note: this isn't your typical greasy, grab-a-slice type of spot. Farfalla leans into the fine dining side of pizza--brick-ovened, elevated, and full of flavor. It's not where I'd go to pick up a stack of pies for a family party after a long day, but it's absolutely where I'd go for a date night or a cozy movie night at home. Simply. Great. Pizza. Pizza Di Farfalla is located within Gost Coffee Roasters space but they are the star of the show. They have the option to pick up at Gost or to have your pizzas brought over to Hickory Creek Brewing. I was able to preorder on Saturday by texting their number. Someone responded quickly, confirmed all details, and I paid upon pick up. Our food was ready within 10 minutes of our pick up time and Addy at the counter was so incredibly sweet. Our order was for the Roni & Ricotta Pizza (pepperoni, ricotta, basil, hot honey) and the Nonna's Pan Crust (add italian sausage). Both pizzas were so different in flavor but both clearly made with high quality ingredients. The Nonna's Pan Crust Pizza showcased their sweeter sauce, fluffy dough, and perfectly spice sausage. The Roni & Ricotta had a thinner crust to let the toppings be showcased. This easily was some of the best pizza in the SW burbs that I've tried and couldn't be more deserving of their high score by Dave Portnoy himself. Before leaving, I had the pleasure of running into the owner Giovanni. He could not have been a warmer person and filled with gratitude to do what he loves everyday with so much pride. Gio and his crew makes great pizza! Hidden in back of a very good coffee place is a temple of NY/New Haven style thin crust Neapolitan pies. We got 1/2 pepperoni and 1/2 sausage + hot pepper pie. We finished the whole damned thing. Good mouth feel, crisp not floppy, fresh fresh ingredients which works well, pie oven that has been well used we can't say enough about the place. We're from NY and Gio's pies rank up near the tops. If we lived near, we'd come more often. Alas we had to do a detour from our road trip for this. Totally worth it. Funky cool seating area. Wow is all I can say. Hidden in the back of a coffee shop is a gem of pizza spot. My family and I ordered a pepperoni pizza and sausage and mushroom pizza. The pizzas were made to perfection. The crust was crispy on the bottom and soft on the edges. I normally skip the crust but the dough was so flavorful and not salty. The pizza sauce was fresh tasting and bright. You can tell only quality ingredients are used on the pizza. The cheese wasn't greasy and the sausage had a mild kick. My kids and wife loved the pepperoni pizza. It had the perfect cupping you see with great pepperoni. Overall we loved the entire meal. The owner was very friendly and the staff looked like they enjoyed their work. This place is great. It's in the Gost store front. They have delivery but I choose carry out as I was at Gost. Have smelled it many times when at Gost so thought I would try. One slice and I can honestly say I will be back for more in the future. Crust perfectly cooked and amount of ingredients perfect portions. For a couple years I've wanted to try this pizza and let me tell you I'm so glad I finally did. I've tried so many different places around the Chicago area and this one stands out and is different than anything I've had. Cheese pizza review- First of all you can instantly tell the ingredients are fresh. The sauce is perfectly balanced and did I say fresh? Most places sauce tastes like it came from a can, this is not that. Cheese was fantastic as well, not overly greasy and blended well. Then there's the crust...now I've never been to Italy but I'm guessing the dough recipe came from there? Old world vibe and little on the well done side which is the zone of the pizza gods. Not floppy, crispy with dark brown bubbles and it has that crunch. It's like New Haven but old world New Haven. The kind of pizza that will pair with a glass of red wine instead of beer. This is where science and art are synchronized. Sorry Geo, your next challenge will be scaling into a full scale pizza restaurant that takes us back to where your ancestors came from. Some of the best pizza you will find in the south suburbs and maybe even the Chicago land area. Tucked away in the back of an awesome and cozy little coffee shop named Gost Coffee, is where Pizza Di Farfalla is. They have seating but it's kind of just the seating in the coffee shop. All they have is pizza and garlic knots. No table service. Just order the pizza and grab a coffee and wait. They were slammed when we went and waited 70 minutes for our order but it was worth every minute of waiting. Geo, the owner and pizza maker, came out to apologize for the wait. Geo is unbelievably friendly and could tell he cares so much for his business. Calling in or ordering online is probably the best way to order so you don't need to wait in the shop if they're super busy. Ambiance in there is great. Kitchen is pretty much an open concept so if you have kids you can watch them make the pizzas which is fun. Give this place a chance and you will not be disappointed.
