Went there on a Friday night. Place was empty. Waited at least an hour for pizza. Pizza was terrible. We pay and wait forever to get our credit cards back. Walk back to see what the holdup is and interrupt the help in their conversation. They say they are working on it. Another 10 minutes and I finally get my credit card back, sign the bill and leave. Came here for a family dinner. $17 for a simple Caesar salad with chicken. 45 minutes later after everyone else had ordered and eaten their pizza, still no salad. We asked for it to go. Waitress was not friendly or concerned. An hour later our salad came with a "sorry 'bout that." Opened it up and found a dirty napkin inside. No offers to take it off the check. Manager said chicken is frozen and takes 40 mins to defrost. If we had been told this policy when we ordered, I could have ordered something else or not added chicken. Not friendly or attentive service. No refills or check ins. We had to ask for the check and boxes. We have all worked in the service industry so we are patient and understanding. We came here for a party recently. This location has a banquet room that was perfect for our sized party. There was multiple pizza options and fried bar snacks like toasted ravioli, jalapeño poppers and mini tacos. It looks like you could hire out the bar in this room as there are taps on the wall and spirits behind it, but our party just had soft drinks. The pizza was great. I've had beggars before and this held up to the quality and taste I'm used to. The apps were just ok, not something I'd want to order on its own. Service seemed good. All of them were undercooked The hamburgers were $17 frozen patty's. extremely over priced (not family friendly) & they came out burnt! Awful. We attended a family birthday party at Beggars Pizza and had an enjoyable time. We had a private room in the back all to ourselves so I cannot comment on the restaurant itself. However, the back room was about what you'd expect it to be: it was rather sizable, had room for a lot of tables, and it even had its own little bar off to the side. It was a pretty solid setup. The staff was... they were just ok. They could have been better about refilling the pitchers of pop (for the kids) but other than that they were just about average to below average from an accommodation standpoint. They did provide plenty of pizzas, however, and I cannot remember a time when we ran out. Overall it was a fine experience. For Beggars Pizza lovers I'd recommend it. For others, or other events, I'd place it a bit further down the list of options. read more

I used to be a Beggar's fan. We just ordered via Uber Eats. The meatball sandwich had no sauce or cheese that we asked for- The bun was not toasted and the meatballs had a funny taste. One bite and ended up throwing it out. The wings were so hard that made them un-eatable, they too were tossed. Beggars should be ashamed releasing that food. Funny what you find when you are off in an area you know nothing about, your stomach and those of your car mates is grumbling and you need FOOD! Well such was the case on a recent Saturday when we found ourselves in New Lenox looking for a sandwich. We found this place in what looked like a closed mall but much to our surprise, there was Beggers down at the end. We started in the carryout area where a friend grabbed some pizza but then realized we had enough time to sit at the bar and enjoy a sandwich. Kevin was running the show behind the bar and quickly got us our drinks and food and was certainly pleasant and welcoming to this Chicago contingency even alerting us to the fact that there was a location of Beggers in the city (turns out it's by Union Station). The turkey wrap I had was quite good as was my friend's cod sandwich and chicken wrap. And the pizza? Also pretty darn good. The most shocking thing (clearly I've been eating in Chicago for far too long) that lunch for the two of us cost cost only $14. That's a steal for the quality and quantity of food we had. Not fancy but functional. And if you want to catch a game, this is more of a sports bar than a pizza joint. Not sure when I'll get back out this way, but if I do, a stop into Beggar's will have to be worked into the itinerary! read more

I love pizza. Who doesn't?! Ok, I'm sure there are people, but they are wrong! Since moving to the Chicago burbs, I've come to find that THIS is the place for it hands down! Since meeting the boy, I've been told that Beggars is fantastic and I must try it! I finally had the opportunity... Did they live up to the hype?! First, let me say that we were at this location for my mother-in-law's annual charity event to raise money for Breast Cancer awareness. She pulls together this amazing event every year and the location does have something to do with how it turns out. The New Lenox Beggars did not disappoint! The staff was friendly, attentive, accommodating, quick to respond, and all around really great to work with from what we could see! The evening moved along very smoothly! That's how things should go when you're running an event! The location happenings should just be in the background and everyone attending should be having a good time! That said let us talk pizza! I have some dietary restrictions and can't have tomato sauce. My mom-in-law was kind enough to order whatever personal lil' pizza I wanted, so I kindly asked for a veggie with mushrooms, spinach, and olives with added sausage! I'm not crazy! Now, I know the kitchen was backed up with the tons of pizzas coming out for our event plus their regular customers, so I waited patiently. I had some tossed salad and pasta salad while I waited. The tossed salad was mostly lettuce with a sparse tomato and cucumber here and there (buffet sized portions tend to be overly lettuced) and the ranch dressing was just that. The pasta salad was pretty bad. I'm not sure what they used to season it. Typically the noodles are drenched in Italian dressing to soak up, but if that's what they used it wasn't a very good one. The pizza came out and I was very excited because I was hungry and it looked great! The crust has a good chew to it and it tastes good, but it doesn't over power the toppings. They have a butter garlic sauce that they put on it in place of the tomato sauce which was nice. It wasn't greasy, but I didn't really get too much of the garlic flavor (which could be good or bad depending on your tastes). The toppings were good, especially the sausage... But the mushrooms! They were canned! Why oh why would they use canned mushrooms over fresh?! There were SO many great things happening that I wanted to overlook the little things! If we had just gotten delivery and not had such great service, my rating would probably be less a star. I think that if they move some of their foods into the fresher realm the food would be spectacular! However, using canned veggies like mushrooms on pizza is a huge no no! And I have no idea what was happening with the weird tasting pasta salad. Great job overall with handling our large group and the staff you've hired for you location! read more

Our server failed to bring out the drinks from the bar, missed the chocolate milks for the kids, could not remember or didn't try to remember who ordered each item. He set things on the table and walked away. Our server missed/forgot/didn't write down several items our party ordered and get this.....my father told the server that he was paying the bill and the server did not put in HIS order for an individual pizza. We were done with our pizza before my father's pizza came out! People go out to eat for the service. While the manager came out, listened to our complaints, and tried to make it right, I can promise you I will never eat in that place again! The server should be fired! He was totally incompetent! Went there today to pick up an online order as a delivery service driver and was told it would be 10 minutes longer! Waited 25 minutes only to be told that pizza got messed up and would be another 30 minutes! We ordered a large deep dish pizza with half pepperoni and half mushroom for pick up. They told us that it would be 45-50 minutes until our order would be ready, and that was a very accurate estimate. I should state upfront that we live about 2 hours south of this location and my expectations of deep dish pizza (aka Chicago style deep dish pizza) have been set by Papa Del's, Gino's East, and Giordano's. We were in the area and wanted Chicago style pizza to eat on our drive home. The pizza was exceptionally ok, in my opinion. My 17 year old son thought it was good. It had acceptable crust (although it had a yellow tint to it, which I thought was weird) and lots of cheese. Lots of very tasty mozzarella cheese without having to order extra is a total winner for me, and this definitely was it!! On the other hand, the sauce tasted canned, and the mushrooms were canned, not fresh. That was very disappointing. Great job by the staff in the pick up area. They were exceptionally friendly without being creepy about it. I also grabbed a 20oz. bottle of pop (soda) and it set me back a WHOPPING $2.29. Even 7-11 is cheaper! Additional note that didn't affect the review - the pizza was so hot when we picked it up that setting it on the slightly angled back seat of the car for 5 minutes while we got onto the highway caused the cheese/toppings/sauce to slide to one side a bit. read more

Ordered a pizza deep dip style and "thin" crust. Maybe it's because I live in the city where the best of the best pizza is at my disposal but Beggers leaves a lot to be desired. The thin crust isn't really thin and is tough like cardboard. No flavor. The cheese slides right off every single piece I ate. The deep dish was good until you get to the crust. Now it's just a thicker bland version of cardboard. I can't speak for the rest of their menu which is pretty lengthy for a pizza joint. So maybe those items are better. Another excellent meal at Beggars Pizza!! While not a fancy place it was clean for the most part except the wet floor which was nasty and sticky underneath out feet! I don't know if someone spilled something or the just hosed down the floor but was gross! But when you get pizza this good you overlook the little things, right!? We had their stuffed spinach and sausage pizza today which was excellent as well! We also split their nachos and spinach dip served with garlic toast. The spinach dip could have been bigger than a tiny ramekin dish! But again was excellent! I thought was pretty small for the price. The nachos were excellent and huge!! The food was very good & I had a very good time but unfortunately I do have one complaint, I ordered a sandwich & on the menu It was just under $10 I believe it may have been $9.50- $9.99 (some thing like that) but I was charged $14.99! Yes, they stole $5 bucks from me. I've always heard of servers doing this but, I never thought it would happen to me. I can't quite remember the servers name... something which began with a C.
