This fingernail-sized old school pizzeria is sandwiched between a gas station and tarot reading spot near a shopping plaza. If you weren't looking for this place, you could miss it. They have a dine-in special of large pizza pie and a jug of fountain soda for $14. We ordered a large cheese pizza for $18.50 (they charge tax on the $17). The staff is hit and miss. Sometimes, they are friendly other times they flat out ignore you. The wait time was a bit longer than I expected. I waited almost 55 minutes for a large pie because people who came after me got their order taken first or was served first. The pizza itself was delicious. The crust was thin and crispy. They were generous with cheese and it had a buttery taste. The sauce was okay. I taste the basic Italian seasoning used but, it had a sharp tomato vinegary taste. There is a $10 minimum credit card charge. They have tables for dine-in and arcade video games. read more

The spicy marinara on the meatball was perfect. They made an awesome stone white pizza with white sauce, onion, meatball, sausage, and fresh mozzarella (custom - not on the menu). Wow! I'd venture to say this is the best place to eat in town. We had a good meal. Everyone enjoyed the food. The service was good. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is just because it was good, not great. I've had much better chicken parmesan in many other places. I do have to say though the garlic bread was pretty tasty. I had the big double-crust which is okay but a little doughy under the toppings. The bottom of the crust was perfect. The food was so-so and the service was quick. The closest parking is paid to park, but we were able to find some street parking not too far away. The plaza was PACKED and I could not find parking. I was not a fan of the music that was playing as it seemed more appropriate for a bar setting. Aside from the parking and music, I would still recommend that you give Pizza D'oro a try for the food and service. read more

Best part of my order was the delish fall off the bone spicy wings...yummy! I ordered a Sicilian slice it tasted a bit bland to me it was crispy but not great maybe if I would have ate it at the pizzeria hot of the oven it would have been great so this is why I gave it 3 stars but I would definitely order again just to get my hands on those wings. Classic Staten Island Slice When the font on the sign is abnormally large like this, it is usually in direct correlation with satisfaction of the slice. Show me a huge font and a poor slice and I will be filled with disappointment. Immediately inside, it's a long counter fronted by friendly mature ladies. Walking to the back, you see 3 arcade machines: Street Fighter II, Pac-Man (of course), and a variety machine. Only 2 are operational. In front of them are the classic orange tables, and to the side, up a few stairs, is a separate dining room with just as charming wood seating. It feels like a house converted to a pizzeria. How can you deny that? They offer a mega slice, comparable in size to a Bronx slice, that costs $3.50. In the Bronx with their extra large pizza, they is no premium for size. Here it's novelty, they are justified in a price hike that nearly doubles their regular slice - a year 2005 price of $2. This slice looks better than it tastes. But only because the visuals of this slice are in the elite top-tier of fluffy, bubbly pies. The crust is lovely with some char, flour, and indents from a screen. It also maintains a beautiful coastline with bubble boulders all along the shore. It's a North Shore Long Island coastline . If you like your slice chewy, this could be a best in the city for you. This crust will knock you out based on it's doughy texture, though minimal in flavor. Fortunately, the lively sauce makes up for it. I'd consider it middle America style, nearly camp pizza, but using Staten Island water. And that's why it's great. I wouldn't pass this up on my way anywhere. Opened: 1976 Distinction: Huge sign. I used to live around the corner from Pizza D'Oro. It was the go-to for me and my wife as well as any visitors. I've returned several times since moving when my job has brought me to Staten Island. I'm happy that they've started to accept credit cards! To me, it's probably the best pizza in Staten Island! The dine-in special is a great deal. I took advantage of it during blizzards when no one wanted to drive and also a day or two after Hurricane Sandy, when it was still open despite all of the issues that occurred in the aftermath of the storm. Working here helps a lot, but you walk in and everyone there you can tell loves there job, the atmosphere is one that is hard to find especially with the fact that all food is prepared with genuine care. Stu Gitter 1 review in the last week I ordered a clam pie from Pizza D'Oro. I waited 45 min. no problem. The pizza came, it seemed a little heavy. I brought it up stairs & opened it.To my surprise it was a white pie. I ran down stairs lucky the driver was still there. He took the pie back. He came back 30 min. later. I looked in the box and saw the clams not realizing until later it was the same white pie as before except with clams on it. I've been trying different places recently. Had a couple of slices from PDO and they were good. Sauce was good and the texture of the dough was good. Ordered 2 pies today. They said 15 minutes and were ready in 15 minutes. Again the sauce was good, a lot of mozz and not oily like some others who use cheap mozz. Crust was tasty and light and airy and the dough was good. Maybe I just got a bad pie, but this was not great pizza. The crust was sooo thin, but it was nothing like your typical thin-crust pie. It was okay, but it didn't even taste like New York pizza to me. I'm from Brooklyn and used to a good size slice of pizza that can hold the weight of its cheese and sauce. This didn't measure up. The pizza here is great. The staff is friendly and make you feel like your family. I've been going here since I was a kid. Their inexpensive and a decent location. It's also a decent size place and they have little video games for the kids while the food's cooking. The only problem is the wait, but the pizza's so good that it's definitly worth the wait. I have no idea how this place gets good reviews. We went in and all the pizza in the cases looked like yesterday's garbage. We asked if there were any fresh pies coming out, and the answer was no. Um....huh? It was almost dinner rush how could they not be making fresh pies? So we ordered one! We sat in the back section and this place is sooooooo outdated and not in a charming kitchy kind of way. It's outdated in the way that it is dirty and falling down. After living in Brooklyn my entire life until 2 weeks ago, I dared to try a Staten Island piece of piece. I went and was very disappointed in the bland taste of their very crusty thin pizza. The pizza is just okay. It's somewhat bland. I go to Pizza D'oro and the pizza slices are thicker and still bland. I stop by my favorite pizzeria, J&V Pizzeria, in Brooklyn and buy a large pie so I can freeze the slices and warm them up either in a toaster oven or regular oven and feel better.
