Tiny place with 8 small tables and a colorful back room dining area that has conversation starters galore. Whether it is burlesque posters in the front room or hot dog kitsch in the back, it is never a dull moment for the visual senses as you wait a short time for your order. They have at least 10 distinct dog combos with the Syra and its grilled mushrooms and Swiss cheese making it tasty with or without catchup. The dogs are great, the fries are fantastic - hand cut that day, soaked in water to pull out the starch and then twice fried, they are a gift that keeps on giving, especially when you opt for the loads of roughly chopped fresh garlic. Others go farther with chili sauce and or cheese sauce. Those a bridge too far for me as malted vinegar and garlic are what the doctor (if not my neighbor) ordered.

Each of us was given our own chip baskets and went to town on these dips. For the main, my friend recommended me the Albany clucker quesadilla. That is a chicken quesadilla that comes with onions and bell peppers. The quesadillas are a good size, come out full of cheese and fillings, and are served with your choice of salsa. I tried the seasonal salsa, which was dark, smooth, and smokey. It went so well with the quesadilla! Both of us ate about half our meals and left feeling full, which plenty of food for another meal later. I will be coming back any time I come back to town. The vibes are good, the food is better, and the prices are very reasonable compared to other modern Mexican restaurants around. If you need a good spot for dinner or drinks, I highly recommend here. The bread course was a delicious focaccia, light and pillowy and infused with rosemary flavor. When we told our server how much we loved it, she offered us a clamshell with two additional slices to take home. That was such a nice gesture! I had the soup (a cream-based Italian soup with sausage, kale and potatoes), while my husband had the salad with homemade balsamic dressing. Both hit the spot. The dinner options were a choice of pastas. I had the puttanesca, which was bursting with big flavors from the garlic, anchovy and olives. If I had one slight criticism, it would have been that I'd have loved a touch more red pepper -- but I'll freely admit I have a higher spice tolerance than most people. We never would have known. It was not dense at all in the way some vegan desserts can be.
