I'm a fan of this Glenside staple. There is a large variety of pizza by the slice and there are free cinnamon dough balls at the register. The pizza is always fresh and hot with tasty sauce and delicious crust. Also, all of their salads are made with Boars Head meat. What would make it five stars? They probably have the best pizza in town ever since the whole Rizzo's fallout. But I also like Pizza Box best for its sandwiches, calzones and stromboli! Service is friendly. The dining area is not entirely clean, but passes personal inspection. Food is genuinely good. I would recommend this Pizza Box to anyone. read more

This place is so close to home, so we should go regularly, right? Unfortunately, the pizza is invariably greasy and tasteless. Worse, we have had enough bad stomachs after eating the pizza to think it is more than a coincidence. The last time I ordered take out was several years ago, and the girl answering the phone was terribly rude. It wasn't a big enough deal to complain about, but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth. This restaurant is walkable from my house. The pizza was good. The crust was a little bread-y for my taste, but overall my family was pleased. The atmosphere is fun for an order at the counter/by the slice pizza shop. The price was a bit expensive, but we will definitely be back. read more

We'd heard many reviews of the Pizza Box and were really looking forward to trying it. We went once for pizza and once for sandwiches. Both times, the place was packed, mostly with takeout traffic. The pizza was all right ... I'm not sure why I didn't like it as much as everyone else seems to. Too much oregano? It wasn't awful but it wasn't my favorite pizza. I had a cheese steak on our next visit. Again, all right. The meat and bread were good but there wasn't nearly enough cheese. Next time maybe I'll get extra cheese and see how that goes. We got fries as well which were coated in that crispy stuff which most people like, but again, I'm going to be a princess and say I prefer plain 'ol fries. I'm sure we'll be back since we like to patronize local places. Maybe we caught it on an off day ... twice. read more

Friendly service! Eager to please and the food is good! Only downfall... No one wears gloves nor have I seen them wash their hands prior to handling food. I'm not ok with that. I'm sorry to say my second trip to The Pizza Box was a major disappointment. Having tried and enjoyed the pizza so much, I was looking forward to checking out the entrees. My gnocchi with marinara sauce was way overcooked. To make matters worse, part way into this plate of mush I came across a great big hair. Not cool. Finally, my wife's fettuccini alfredo can at best be described as tasteless and bland. Knowing that every restaurant can have an off night every now and then, I'm hoping that's what happened here. One of the few places in the Philadelphia suburbs to get a real Philly Cheesesteak and decent pizza. They literally have any kind of pizza you could think of on their menu. Huge slices for $3. Pizza is always hot, fresh and crust is crunchy. There's always free Zeppoles up at the register. The employees are always hard at work but service is very good. After hearing all the hype from Arcadia students I finally decided to give it a try. Sadly, I prefer Mario's pizza in Chestnut Hill. The pizza at pizza box was okay. There was nothing spectacular about it though. I kept waiting for a great ounce of spice or tang from the sauce to settle in but there was nothing. In my opinion, it's an average pizza joint that caters to college students and families. Nothing too grand but also not a waste of money. From the moment I walked in I knew this was going to be my place. Growing up on Mulberry Street in New York and then Bensonhurst in Brooklyn and coming from a restaurant family I am so often disappointed by either The poor quality of the food or the service, but this little pizza place never disappoints. The many varieties of pizza are wonderful. Their Italian bread for sandwiches always tasty and fresh and their specialties like ribeye steak either on a hero or in a pizza are delicious. I had my granddaughters 21st party catered by them and they met all my expectations of fresh delicious food and fabulous service. The owner , his son and the workers like my grandmother and her crew are dedicated to doing it right and they always have samples of Little Italian sweets on the counter for you to snack on as you wait. I always go to the one in Ambler for Pizza but I moved and ordered cheese steaks for me and my family this time from Glenside. I can't comment on Glenside's pizza but their cheese steaks are really disappointing; and I'm not even from Philly. Rolls were chewy like they were microwaved or were a few days old. The meat barely filled the roll, they don't take credit cards like Ambler and the counter staff was not as friendly and engaging as Ambler. 2 stars for Glenside. Be kind to your customers, offer different options to pay other than cash (suspicious) and be consistent across all your stores. I feel bad giving this review as I love their Ambler location. I can't say enough about the amazing pizza and the service! Today's pizza was so over the top, I HAD to tell everyone! I had 2 pieces (since I'm a glutton!) of the tortellini, basil, tomato, bacon all in a blush sauce. Every single ingredient was better than the next. The service, even though they don't have waitress service, is always perfect! Everyone's nice, always remembers me, has a nice word to say and is just genuinely happy. They have a lot of different varieties of specialty pizza every day and sell by the slice. Usually, I get cheesesteak pizza or a cheesesteak roll (it's like a mini cheesesteak stromboli), but have been more adventurous lately. Never had anything there I didn't like. Oh, and I shouldn't forget about the FREE "donuts" they have on the counter. They are better than any crap that Dunkin Donuts has.......Not sure what the name is for them, but they are deep-fried pieces of pizza dough sprinkled with sugar!!!!!! The prices are excellent and wish I could eat there every day! MANGIA! In Glenside, and anywhere nearby, this is the place for pizza! The pizza was good, not the best I've had, but good nonetheless. HOWEVER, NONE of the employees wore gloves when preparing the food. There was a women operating as the cashier AS WELL AS the person who puts the pizza onto a silver tray and into the brick oven- all done with her bare hands! Then, in walked what looked to be a happy regular customer, shaking a few of the employees hands, saying hello. This wouldn't have been a problem if after that greeting the guy who made my pizza washed his hands and put some gloves on! I didn't see a glove box anywhere! It really sucks because this was my first time at The Pizza Box and I was excited for a bunch of returns to try the different types of pizzas. BUT, I'll never go back.
