total lack of communication. They do not answer emails, no phone number to call. Very unhappy experience.

Zero communication. My experience with them has deterred me from wanting to try to rescue a dog again.

I didn't want a kitten, and ended up adopting Gunther, whose name I changed as soon as he showed me his personality. Renamed Sylvester on Tuesday evening, he is a sweet and gentle 2-year-old, but often into mischief. Happily, I do not have a Tweety bird. Currently, you do not need an appointment to adopt a cat, except on Saturdays. The shelter this week also has a pony and a water turtle, and other non-canine or feline species. This a very clean and well appointed shelter. Care and concern for their charges is obvious for all the staff and volunteers I met. There is also a gift shop in the Adoption Center. Other buildings include a veterinary clinic, and a wild life rescue unit, as well as a drop-off center. Fee to adopt a cat is $120, and they give you a bag of food, the same food as the animal has been on. Covid safety precautions are enforced --masks and distancing.

Yesterday they had vet for a day there with students checking in on the barn animals and they had therapy dogs there and one of the older students was nice enough to give me a tour and brought of one of the chickens for me to see since with my wheelchair it was hard to see over the door and let me pet the chicken which was cool he was such a great tour guide and told me all about the bar animals!! Definitely the place to adopt from if you're looking for your fur-friend!! They are handicap accessible!!

My friend and I stumbled upon this fantastic cat adoption centre in the otherwise dead mall that is Niagara Centre. In the front area, they stock odds and ends (water bottles, t-shirts, etc) to raise proceeds for their efforts. The back of the store is the really impressive part; it's divided by a floor-to-ceiling chain link fence with a gate, and they have dozens of cats wandering free. The area is the size of a large living room, and it's filled with all sort of furniture for the cats to climb/sleep on, as well as toys. There's an area in the very back marked "employees only" where the cats are free to retreat to if they need the litter box, food, or just a quiet place to hide. The employees are happy to let anyone in with the cats to visit, and you're free to pet or play with them, or just let them come to you. It's a great setup, almost like a cat cafe, where you can get to know your future pet on their home turf. No cages, so the cats aren't stressed out. One cat in particular approached us for attention, and we happily petted her and fed her some treats while she purred non-stop. The other cats casually strolled around or slept, not bothered by us in the slightest. I only wish I lived nearby, because I'd love to visit all the time. It's probably for the best, since I'd want to take all of the cats home.

She said your dad sounds like a nice guy so have him put in his application in tomorrow. She said he would go on their website in a week. So I filled out the application which is more intrusive than getting a NYS pistol permit and with a home visit too. So then I go thinking I could pick up the dog and no one knows anything. I texted with many people so they should have known what dog I wanted plus the information was on my application. I go there and they tell me the was adopted even though it was still on their website. So I go looked for another dog at the event and I find one that's similar to the breed I want and he was so loving. He washed my face and wanted to go to sleep on my lap. So the handler is selling me on this dog, telling me how wonderful it is. I tell him you know what I really wanted a female, but he's so lovable. I wanted to adopt him. Then some people come up to me and say the dog is adopted. That's two dogs in one day they said could be adopted but then disappointed me. Why are they posting dogs that have already been adopted both on their website and at an adoption event? I was very hurt as I just lost my mom and felt this dog would help me get over the loss. They knew that, they loved my application and my home. I will try to go to another event but I no longer trust them, they seem to care about dogs more than peoples feelings.
