My poor review is based on the professionalism of the lady in charge, not the actual cleaners. The ladies who came to clean did a decent enough job.
When I reached out, I explained that my new apartment is completely empty, with no refrigerator or carpet. I just wanted to have someone sanitize and mop before I move in. I was quoted for a job that would take about 2.5 hours with 2 people. So a total of 5 man hours, for a price of 140-190.
That seemed like it was too much for the job I wanted, seeing as I had no furniture or refrigerator yet. I have a 1 bedroom, 1 bath apartment that has been cleaned already, just wanted it fresh and sanitized.
I told her I found her on groupon and I wanted the option that would be 104 bucks for 2 hours with two people. I even offered to pay her that price directly instead of purchasing the Groupon so she gets the full amount. She was excited to take that offer when I mentioned paying her instead of purchasing the Groupon, and we scheduled the 2 hours for 104 bucks, appointment set for 930 am.
The night before my appointment, I got a text late at night with a screenshot of the groupon prices. I replied and said yes I'm still interested in the top option, 2 hours for 104, confirm me for 9:30 am. She said that's not enough time to finish the job, I originally quoted you for 2.5 hours. I said OK fine and booked the 2.5 hours for 129, since our appointment was the next morning. I told her my main focus is sanitizing the kitchen and bathrooms.
Then she could have the cleaners focus on the floors and other rooms with the leftover time.
Then she texted me and said "maybe I'll just send one cleaner so she doesn't feel rushed and she can take her time." I responded and said no, I want two cleaners so the job doesn't take 5 hours, but just 2.5. I had to get to work. Then she apologizes and says one of the cleaners is having babysitter issues, and that she can't send two at the scheduled time. She offered two cleaners to come at 6:30 am, so I agreed.
Then she asked me for my email to send the invoice and requested payment before the appointment. I thought that was weird and told her I don't feel comfortable paying for a service before the job is complete. She said they have had people skip out on payments before, so she just wants to make sure she gets paid. I understand that so I offered half now and half when the job is complete. She said when the cleaners get there in the morning I have to pay the full price. I said fine. At this point I'm already irritated with the company.
We finish our texting around 10:30 pm.
I get to my new apartment around 6:15 in the morning to wait for the cleaners and I got a text at 6:26 saying "the girls are driving from Downtown La. Traffic is brutal this morning. They are still on the way. Arrival time will be estimated 7 am."
I live in southbay, I checked traffic report...There's no traffic southbound from downtown, but whatever. I understand it's early, and people are late. It happens.
So the ladies finally show up around 7:15. One of them even says "oh, it's already clean"
I explained that I wanted them to clean the kitchen cabinets, bathroom and mop the floors.
I leave them to work on it, and I get a text from the lady I've been texting. She said the cleaners have requested an extra half hour. And she's bumping my price up to 155. Then asks me to pay in full.
I told her if I agree to that price, please make sure they clean everything. She said she understands and that they will clean the entire apartment, top to bottom, even if it takes longer than 3 hours.
I get back to my apartment at 9:50, it's been 2.5 hours, and the place is decently clean, the floors have been mopped and they are already dry. The cleaners are all packed up and waiting by the door.
The cleaners leave and I text the lady explaining that it took the ladies less than 2.5 hours. She said they showed up at 7 and finished at 10, that's 3 hours. They didn't show up at 7 though, they didn't walk into my apartment until 7:15. And everything was finished and by the time I walked in at 9:50. She stopped responding to me. Already paid the money, and she didn't respond to any more of messages. She ignored me all day. This company is a scam. Go with another company. I've used other housekeepers before and never had issues like this. read more
