Then when I emailed with the general manager Jerry, he only gave me FUT prices, and told me Dr. Blumenthal says FUT was best. When I asked if they even do FUE procedures, I got no response. I did not go further as they had lost my trust at this point, and by Dr. Blumenthal's own advice, people should not go there. If you look at the website, you see the term "HUE" thrown around a lot, which also seems misleading as it is not FUE but actually FUT.

I would not recommend this place. Based on my experience, I felt like the focus was more on getting…read morepaid than on the quality of the final result. I had SMP done for both my scalp and FUT scar camouflage about eight years ago at the Maryland office. I wasn't happy with the results even back then. The pigmentation around my scar looked noticeably darker and unnatural compared with the surrounding area. When I raised my concerns, I was basically told that my scars were bad and this was the best that could be done. A few years later, after moving to the West Coast, I went to several SMP artists in both Las Vegas and Los Angeles for consultations about a touch-up and whether the scar camouflage could be corrected. Almost every artist I consulted told me the scar camouflage had not been done properly. Some specifically told me the technique looked rushed and that the pigment used did not appear appropriate for scar camouflage. There were other issues as well. My hairline was uneven and asymmetric, and there were areas around the crown and sides that seemed to have been missed entirely. For years I thought maybe this was simply the best result possible, but after getting opinions from multiple other SMP professionals, I no longer believe that. I originally chose this provider partly because of the large number of extremely positive online reviews. At one point, I remember seeing more than 600 five-star Google reviews. I later became skeptical about how representative those reviews were, and I noticed that the Google review presence I had relied on was no longer there. I'm sharing my experience so others do their research, get consultations from multiple SMP artists, and specifically ask to see healed examples of FUT scar camouflage before committing.

Review for The Art of SMP by Chris Herrera, Kensington, MD…read more From a woman with alopecia I've had alopecia for a few years now, and after trying different wigs, fibers, concealers, even seeing dermatologists, nothing gave me the kind of confidence boost I was hoping for. I finally decided to try scalp micropigmentation (SMP) with Chris Herrera at The Art of SMP in Kensington, MD -- and I'm so glad I did! Kindness, Respect & Comfort From the first consultation, Chris and his team made me feel seen & heard. They listened to my concerns (uneven patches, sensitive scalp, what my "look" goals were) without rushing me. The environment is professional but warm. Staff were gentle and respectful. Because of the patchiness I had, I was anxious but Chris guided me through what realistic expectations are, and didn't overpromise. They reassured me about pain, healing, colour matching, which helped a lot. They know how emotionally heavy hair loss is, especially for women, and they treated it not just like a cosmetic fix but something that matters deeply. The price point is perfect, Given the durability of the work (touch‑ups needed but not often), I feel like it was worth every dollar!!! This is not a paid review or discount review, I'm a real female with alopecia living in Virginia. I wish I knew of this years ago.

Had other SMP artists warm me about him and having to complete his work, but Daniel seemed to have good reviews at the time and the initial consultation and first service went well. Moving forward into my second SMP session, I would shave my head prior to arriving at an appointment to make things faster for SMP, and I would get a call or text with excuses that 1.) his house burnt down, 2.) He was not feeling well, 3.) Had to make a last minute trip to Miami for business. While some personal issues may be true and warranted (having sympathy for him during difficult times), it was too many to count. He then stopped communicating with me and never completed my third-session...not fulfilling his services. Nothing upsets me more than being ghosted and my money stolen. Overall, based on my personal experience, I don't recommend him. Look for artists who showcase professionalism and not broadcast how much bling they have on the Internet. For someone who has had such a great run in this business, I don't think the excitement or passion is there anymore. As a last note: I've noticed his business name has changed several times over the past few years and the one on Google doesn't match his Scalp Allure website

Terri was so nice and took me in even though I was late to my appointment (by the way, if you don't know where her salon is, it's in the mall, tucked away, like a gem, in the Salon Plaza stall (which is what you will look up in the mall directory). Besides her genuine kindness and being very personable, which made me feel very comfortable, Terri knows what she is doing! She provided me with a consultation and helped me decide what style to get that compliments my face well, what will look good for my hair, in the long run. I'm definitely not the expert, and Terri IS! She knew what I was thinking and was able to tell me that what I had in mind wouldn't work and when I went with her advice, it was exactly the cut I was envisioning in my head but Terri, the expert, did her magic! In addition, she added her touch by taking good care of my hair and offering advice to care for it. She finished off by taking the time to style it to make it look so good. When choosing to trust a hairstylist, I'd rather have someone take time on my hair to make it look beautiful and make sure that I am happy with it, rather than someone who wants to accommodate as many customers that they are not concerned about how the client feels about her hair. Teri takes her time and it the after product is beautiful. I walked out of that salon and right away was receiving so many compliments from random people around the mall! It was awesome!

I was extremely nervous on the first day I went but after speaking with Kelly-ann I knew right away that I was in good hands. She was very sympathetic but immediately started with a plan to fix my issues! I scheduled an FUT transplant procedure with her and waited anxiously for the day to come. The day of the procedure she was just as pleasant as always despite it being at 7am! She was there as the doctor planned out the hairline etc. and made sure I was comfortable before proceeding. I can't speak much about the procedure itself because I was knocked out the entire time! Afterwards I was sent home with clear instructions on how to maintain things and had a follow up the very next day to ensure everything was going well. This is when Steph got involved, she got all my questions answered and helped wash my head for the first time. Nothing like having a *gorgeous* nurse scrub all the scabs off then the waiting game began. I'm just past month 4 and I already am extremely happy with the results! I started PRP as well and STRONGLY recommend doing this as soon as possible after the transplant (exactly as Kelly-Ann and Steph recommend) due to your head staying numb for a few months. I cannot express enough how thankful I am for them helping me through this tough time in my life. I no longer have to hide my receding hairline and will probably never wear a hat again! I'd give ten stars to PAI and the staff there (even the receptionist/nurse is extremely kind) if I could. Don't wait, give them a call and you won't be sorry!
