I can say the injury was not only the source of intense pain for me but also taught me to be patient as well as serving up a healthy dose of humility! The therapists that worked with me provided not only the health and physical support I needed but also counselled/advised me with long term exercises that will assist me for the years to come. I regained 80% of mobility and most of my strength back in my dominant shoulder/arm when the initial assessment was hopeful for a 50% return in mobility. I will forever be grateful for the therapists who helped me recover and am now able to lead a life with very few limitations! My experience with Ortho Virginia was very positive.

The worst healthcare experience for the simplest of procedures that I've ever had. I get Durolane…read moreinjections in a knee. I ve been getting them for 3 years. The injection was ordered. After not hearing from them in a week I called and asked the status of my injection. I was told Humana had not authorized the shot. Boldly I asked them the reference number on the order and called up Humana to see why the shot had not been approved. I talked to a Humana pharmacist and was told they do not require prior authorization for my injection. I called Ortho back and the surgical med nurse told me share would check to see if it was there. Then called me back. Waited all day. Abby never called me back. Before closing called back, Destiny patched me to Abby. Abby said she never called me back b/c she couldn't find out if the injection was actually there. This time she promised me she'd call me back. It's been 11 days since my initial appointment. My knee, guess, still hurts, and I can't even find out if my injection has been ordered. I asked them once why they couldn't keep the injections in stock. Durolane. I was told it was an expensive injection and the shelf life was very short . I looked that up and found out the shelf life is 2 years. Don't tell me they have 6 doctors who see up to 50 patients a day, and they can't find another patient to give a Durolane injection to. Within a 2 year period. You call over there and an A I Bot takes over. I've been put on hold for over 30 minutes 3 times. Bottom line it's going on almost two weeks and they can't tell me anything. I was patched through to the fourth person once, and still didnt get answers. If you talked to for example Lori, and then request Lori again, you get put on hold and then you will wait 30 minutes, if you then opt to leave Lori a message, you get an answering machine saying that your return call would come in 24 to 48 hours. So already you are pushed out another 1 or 2 days. I completely see why they receive an average of 2 stars but I can't go that high. My experience has been one star.

Tyler has helped me after injuries and surgeries before. For me, the choice was easy. Go somewhere I trusted. See someone I trusted. See someone who knew me. Be in a place where I can feel confident in the care and guidance I receive and truly feel 'seen' as a patient. More than ever before I'm willing to put in the work. More than ever I have to 100% recover from this. It's my hand. It's how I work. It's how I ride and listen to my animals. It's how I type a pub out each month, and so much more. It's the hand I hold my husband's in But Tyler also knows me well enough to know I'm impatient and eager to heal. And he's smart enough to call me out on that. But today. My god... Today Tyler told me he felt I had a really good prognosis. He told me I have a really good chance of healing safely, fully, and recuperating my left and right side (overuse after injury to left). I'm going to come back ready to work, and lift weights, and thrive! 6 days post op my physical therapist made me feel good about the future, something I've been waiting 20 days for. I tried self medicating myself through videos online with physical therapy but it wasn't cutting it. I looked online and saw this place was rated very well and decided to give them a try. I arrived today at the Bonsack location and was not able to be seen due me not having a referral from when I saw my doctor back in December. The issue boils down to a lack of communication through appointments because I was never notified to bring that information. The only information they said I could bring if I could get it was my X-Rays from my shoulder area but if not they would reach out to Carilion and get them. I had already taken time off from work to be seen today and I'm told that I have to reschedule until I get a referral from my doctor. I just don't understand for the price that I would've paid to be seen that someone on your end cannot reach out to my physician and confirm the validity of my statements.

While I've had positive visits in the past, my last visit was disappointing. The reason for…read morerequested diagnostics were not fully explained and there was no mention of billing so that I could make an informed decision. I should have read the forms more carefully, but it would be helpful for the physician and technicians to go over them verbally. I was told later that there was no way to no what the cost would be. However, I was given a bill promptly after the diagnostics with an amount. In other practices, such as optometrists, a full rundown of costs are given before you purchase an item. It isn't difficult. So, I find it unconvincing that a routine test and standard insurance deductibles could not be estimated beforehand. Another issue I encountered at this office during several visits was the display of a bible -- once in an exam room and later in the waiting room. I was told that patients sometimes leave items. But there was no indication that they intended to do anything about it. I find it hard to believe people randomly leave items in exam rooms without them being noticed and removed. I think it's important to create a neutral and welcoming environment for all patients, not just a select group. So, Lewis Gale Physicians apparently are either proselytizing or pandering. Neither is useful in a medical practice. I will likely be looking for an alternative that treats all patients respectfully, discloses costs, and communicates more effectively.
