It's called Steak City, but it has Fish and Chicken (please don't tell me I'm not the only one who was initially confused by this). On our way there we speculated about what kind of place we were driving to, completely not expecting what we ended up at. The website for Steak City Fish & Chicken is far more polished than the establishment itself. By the website and from photos online it appeared to be a brightly colored place with an awning out front. It's not like that at all now. It appears to be something that used to be a convenience store with a drive up window, which in a fashion is what it is now, but the awning has since been replaced with an add-on entry way and the entirety of the exterior is a dull, dingy grey. The interior is half convenience store, half take-out kitchen. Above the counter is the two-panel menu. (photos included in review). There are A LOT of offerings, from burgers to nachos, tacos, wings, and fish, chicken & shrimp in a variety of combos. By default all meals come with fries (which you can opt out of for a reduced price). My wife and I both missed this when we ordered (not a big deal, actually). Each line item is also accompanied by a 'cooking fee' which varies from 50¢ to $3.00. Not really sure what that's about, but I'm guessing it's a way to kind of build in a tip, since there is no option to tip that I saw when paying. My wife ordered wings and I ordered chicken tacos. Since there are no seats we decided to peruse the convenience store area while we waited for our food. There is no beverage station, so any drink will have to come in can/bottle form from the coolers. The service process was easy and, in fact, as minimal as possible. "What would you like to order?" "That'll be $xx.xx". That was it. There are a number of coolers with mostly soft drinks, and quite a few not-entirely-stocked shelves with various non-perishables. We weren't surprised to see more than a few of the items well past their sell-by date. About 12 minutes later and our food was ready. I grabbed a bottle of Faygo® out of a cooler and we went outside to eat in our car. There is not seating area outside, either. At the end of the day, the food was AWESOME. My chicken tacos were very tasty, and my wife LOVED the wings. This is an odd/interesting place. The food was great, but the service and the establishment could use a little upkeep.

Gloves should be mandatory when touching or preparing food for the public this is definitely a safety hazard and could cause germs or even worse some type of virus to spread throughout the restaurant and to customers as well. Smokey Blue, as you can probably guess, is a BBQ food truck with a menu that includes sandwiches (chicken, brisket, hot honey chicken, and pulled pork. The BBQ is Texas Style. They also offer So-Cal Burritos (I don't recall these being on the menu today, though I'll also admit I wasn't looking for them). Each sandwich offers a side and I also received a slice of corn bread. I ordered the chicken sandwich with fries. The chicken comes with either regular or spicy sauce. I opted for regular, however, in the future would probably go for spicy. Because of a work meeting during lunch, I hit the market early during the 10:30am-1:30pm hours. This isn't my favorite thing to do as trucks are typically still getting set up and meals can feel either rushed or incomplete. This was kind of true here as fries were not yet ready and with several people waiting it seemed a bit rushed. The nicely seasoned fries were good, however, they stuck together a bit. The people are very friendly here. There's an obvious desire to connect with customers. It also appears to be faith-based/inspired as there's a Scripture on the food truck. Smokey Blue also offers loaded fries, loaded mac, wings, and pork nachos. Like most food trucks, I do think some of the items are sporadically available. You can also get bottled water and soft drinks in can (Coke Products). I did also see one dessert on the menu - Smoked Apples with Brown Sugar, drizzled with Dulce de Leche and a delightful crumble on top on top of our own Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. I did not see them today, however, I'll likely try them in the future. I have a feeling this was somewhat hindered by my arriving early. This was a very solid 4-star, however, I can't quite get myself to go 5-star. Service was great, food was good, and prices were consistent with most food trucks. I will definitely return, however, I'll likely wait for them to get a bit more settled and not try to do lunch at 10:45am. Smokey Blue also offers catering and will appear at special events. Lots to love here - I look forward to returning in the future and hopefully forking over that fifth star!
