During this visit, I noticed the Chester Chicken restaurant inside the store. The food display was visually appealing, and the aroma of freshly prepared fried chicken was especially inviting. The chicken biscuit was freshly made and provided a satisfying, flavorful meal that was just enough to curb my hunger. Overall, it was a pleasant and convenient stop during my trip.

Had the spicy Italian sandwich and my husband had the steak and cheese. My husband is 6'4", about 250 and from farming stock and even HE couldn't finish his sub. Both meals were absolutely packed with their ingredients - if I could submit photos, I would. Secondarily, even were the food mediocre, the woman who served us was absolutely delightful, serene in a store with a half dozen other customers and working alone. She even took the time to recommend offbeat local sights as we were equipped for hiking. I'm short, I would and will drive by any other local convenience store to shop here. Also, it is the only store in between Rutland and White River Junction that sells off-road fuel ( if you know, you know). 5 stars, an A+ and an absolute asset to a somewhat deserted strip of Rt 4 between Killington and Woodstock.

Despite it essentially being a gas station, this Maplefields is different. The inside feels almost artisanal, with its brick walls and strong selection of local products. In truth, being from Boston, I asked the friendly matron of this house of hops about the reigning king of Vermont breweries "Alchemist." By the time we were done, she had recommended no less than THREE different brews that surpassed the legendary "Heady Topper" by leaps and bounds. Skeptical? Yes. Until I tried them.
