    Burrita
    Amy M.

It's fourth of July weekend and that means fireworks and food trucks. Well that was the case for the hubs and I. Covid restrictions have decreased to the point where gatherings are encouraged after vaccinations, and holidays can finally be celebrated with loved ones. My better half and I headed out to Smithfield 4 hours in advance to park our car. We hoped for a good spot as it was first come and first serve to view the firework show. Since we had hours to burn, we walked over to the trucks. The hubs gravitated to Pitt Country Barbeque and I to Black Pearl. I noticed the lines were long, but it was impressive to see how fast both food trucks were working to accommodate the masses. The hubs ordered the "Burrita" a 14 inch burrito loaded with mac and cheese, choice of smoked meat brisket or pork or both. Then it is drizzled with fireball whiskey sauce, and wrapped in what they said on their menu "warm deliciousness." He opted for pork, paid, and then gave his name for when his order was ready. Not even 5-10 minutes with a long line at their truck, his name was called and a gentleman exited the truck to walk over, and hand over the burrita. That A+ customer service!!! I was still waiting on my food from the other truck. Once we got back to our car, I immediately opened the Burrita to take pictures. My hubs had the first few bites before handing it over to me. Let me just say that pork was damn juicy, fall apart moist, tender and oh my gosh just let me at this Burrita!! The smoked mac and cheese was genius to pair with. It was cheesy, and I loved it in addition to the pork. The drizzle of whiskey sauce was perfect and enough to appreciate. The tortilla used was warm, and great to eat on the go. I believe this is a new food truck on the scene. I recommend looking for them on Facebook and Instagram. I hear they do catering so that's great for celebrations or even lunch. Look forward to eating at Pitt Country Barbeque again!! Check them out if you hadn't already

I have been here several times to pick up food, but this was my first time actually going inside to order. The line was long around lunchtime, but it moved quickly. It is fast casual style, so you walk down the line choosing what you want and then pay at the register. I honestly had no idea that was how it worked before, so I was prepared to wait a while. I was pleasantly surprised at how efficient everything was. I was in and out much faster than expected. While putting my order together, the man helping me handed me a sample rib over the counter. I am a very socially awkward person and do not handle unexpected moments very gracefully, so I probably reacted a little awkwardly. That part was on me. The rib was GOOD though. He was very kind about my reaction and even handed me a napkin. The whole staff was friendly, asking how my week was going and checking in to make sure everyone was happy. Even though it was busy, they clearly care about customer service. The food was great. The garlic and green onion sausage had so much flavor, and the bananamisu was the perfect sweet finish. I originally went in hoping to order the BBQ oxtail, but they were sold out within two hours of opening, which honestly says a lot about how good they must be. I had also gone the day before around 7 PM and they had already closed because they were sold out for the day. Just a heads up that they do close early if they run out of food. Overall, great food, friendly staff, and quick service. I will definitely be back and hopefully I will finally catch the oxtail next time.

Staff were accommodating and friendly. The restaurant has a nice ambiance fit for an enjoyable fun night of drinks and food. To drink, I tried their $5 Cranberry Crush (7/10) it was refreshing and slushy, but not strong at all really just a slushy juice and the Georgia Peach (10/10) loved the flavor and was a decently strong drink. To eat, we started with the Pork Rinds appetizer (10/10) they were definitely fresh and flavorful; I loved the sauce that came with them. I also ordered the Catfish basket (5/10) I was excited when this came to the table because it looked as though it would taste good and was a great portion size; however, it didn't meet my expectations at all. There was no flavor to the fish or batter and the Mac and cheese was very much the same way, bland. Though I am giving a lower rating, I would come back for drinks and to possibly try a different food. Feel like I must've ordered the wrong thing or the cook was having a bad night? I have no clue, but I'm open to returning in the future. My overall rate of experience : 6/10

Upon entering it's kind of a small place that doesn't have a lot of fan fare. I'm cool with that. We picked our seats and a super friendly lady sat us down. She was very pleasant and is super customer focused. We ordered an array of appetizers and two meals. Now... I gotta admit... while she was nice, after she left, it all kinda went downhill from there. The chicken was pretty good, but beyond that, the meals weren't that fancy. The spam appetizer is quite simple. Honestly, we were a little disappointed. Then the server after the lady was barely present. We left and were glad that we tried it, but with all the amazing options in the area, this probably won't be our first go-to. My only slight hesitation has always been that they are fried after the smoke to finish them off, but the taste usually wins me over. On this visit, however, I decided to branch out and explore the rest of the menu. It was a game-changer. The Meat Highlights Smoked Turkey (by the pound): This was a revelation. It was sliced perfectly, remarkably tender, and packed a punch of smoky flavor that you don't always get with poultry. Pork Spare Ribs: This was easily the star of the show. The cut of meat was high-quality and exceptionally tender. The Sauce Strategy What I appreciated most was the house BBQ sauce. It acted as a "punctuation" to the flavor. It enhanced the ribs without overpowering the natural smoke and seasoning. The Verdict: While the wings are a solid staple, the smoked turkey and ribs proved that this kitchen knows exactly what they're doing with a smoker. If you're looking for tender meat where the flavor speaks for itself, you can't go wrong here.
