Silver Plume General Store - Inside eatery

Silver Plume General Store

I would highly recommend Silver Plume Rentals for your trip to Taylor Valley and Gunnison National…read moreForest. This was only my second time renting an ATV in Colorado but by far the best out of both experiences. I rented from a different place in 2012 and let me say the experience was night and day. The unit I used from Silver Plume was a RZR 900 4-seater and was in excellent condition and ran wonderfully for the 200+ miles of trail we drove. I was very impressed with the condition of all the rentals that were at the store. They do a great job of keeping the vehicles clean and well maintained. Upon arrival, Cory had the vehicle ready and took pictures of the unit prior to my departure to ensure a full inspection. His orientation was spot on so that I understood his expectation on what I would be held accountable for in the event damage caused to the vehicle during riding. This is good to know because the last place tried to charge me $125 for pre-existing dings that were minor. The most impressive part of the rental was the GPS locator. I believe this sets Silver Plume apart from the competition and is added security for both emergency and damage. I have not seen this before with any rental and have heard horror stories of people getting stranded because of a downed ATV. This feature alone is worth using Silver Plume. A breakdown is always a possibility in Gunnison and chances are there will be no cell phone signal at the location. Overall, the entire experience was great, smooth, and painless from check-out to check-in. Silver Plume is a great place to rent from and very reasonably priced compared to other rental places. The store has great prices on souvenirs for your trip. The restaurant has great food if you need a quick lunch or a late dinner. Silver Plume is the place you should rent from if riding in Taylor Valley or the surrounding area.

We had a BLT on Texas toast (gigantic/ think bacon slices), a burger with a fresh thick patty and fresh trimmings and a single order of fries which was more than enough for both of us and these were dressed with something that really added to them. This place is fun and truly a gem, don't miss it.

My wife and I stayed in room 210 for a night and had a wonderful experience! The space was…read moretastefully decorated and renovated nicely. We've had mixed experiences with boutique hotels, but this is an example of one done well. It's conveniently located downtown on Main Street (upstairs) and is a perfect way to either visit the city, or enjoy a night while passing through. The front desk is virtual in the form of text messaging, which we had zero issue with getting our room code and to check out, and we found they responded to our inquiry about parking promptly. The parking lot is off of Railroad street in a public lot that we had zero issues with. The electronic locks for the rooms took a moment to understand, but worked fine to lock/unlock the room. (Hint: Double tap the logo and the keypad appears). Though the pricing can be a bit expensive, it seems in line with what you can expect to pay in mountain towns. Overall, our stay at The Inn left us with the feeling that we got what we paid for, and we would absolutely stay here again.

Very nice renovation of space in an old building within walking distance of shops and restaurants…read morein Buena Vista. Anything else you will need within a mile or two. Plenty of parking close by. Nice decore, plenty of hot water and good bathroom. Sent text 2 days prior to visit. No response. Directions didn't say that door needed to be locked electronicaly when you left the room. For first 24 hrs I couldn't get the door to lock. I was told that the doors needed adjustment. The safe in the room was already locked when I arrived. Was told they couldn't find the key fob to open it. Took a day to fix. New toilet had 3 or 4 problems. Installed incorrectly. I fixed a few of the issues to keep it from sticking but still could use some work. I didn't have any noise issues. The restaurant below closes at 9pm. I stayed 3 nites and was hiking most days and going to bed at 8-9pm. The mattress and pillows were fantastic as well as well functioning A/C and a good ice machine. There are no dressers in the room. Not even luggage stands. You Have to work out of your luggage from the floor. Not good for this level of Inn. No usable chair in the room. There was one "sling" chair that was not easy to sit on and zero back support. I like a chair to read. I don't like to have to sit in the bed whenever I used the room. I sat in the chair to put on my socks and boots and the chair tipped over and my forehead struck the edge of the bed leaving a half inch cut. Minimal blood. Trash, trash, trash!!!! There was one trash can located in the bathroom and no place to empty trash. Hydrate, hydrate. I used a case of water and 16 bottles of Gatorade. Nowhere to put the empty bottles. There are 25 steps to to rooms. I am athletic older man. It was painful to carry multiple 40 lb. suitcases and packs up those stair. The Inn did send me a text...... on the last day, asking what they could do to improve my stay. To little too late. I have been gone for 4 days. I had expected the INN to reach out to me personally about my issues. I expect the owner to respond to this review. That is all u can expect for service during you stay.... The perfunctory virtual response. This place has potential but alot to learn about hospitality. I sincerely wish them luck.

The place was so clean, I half expected a cleaning fairy to waltz in and curtsy. The furniture and beds? Comfier than a post-Thanksgiving nap. Pillows? Fluffier than a baby alpaca. And those clear plastic boxes for extra bedding? Pure organizational wizardry. Marie Kondo would weep. Cozy blankets made me consider quitting my job and becoming a professional blanket burrito. Pet friendly too--complete with poop bags and couch covers so my dog could live her best life and I didn't have to wrestle her off the sofa like a WWE match. The smoking station on the back porch? Genius. Keeps butts out of nature while still letting smokers feel fancy. The kitchen? Huge table, solid chairs, and a crockpot that made me feel like I'd been transported to a cooking show. Quality pots and pans for days, but only four coffee mugs. FOUR. For a whole chalet. Are we hosting an exclusive espresso club? And one dish towel? My sponge practically filed a complaint. Here's the kicker: it snowed overnight the first night, and by the time we came back from skiing, the walkway was shoveled and the hot tub lid was cleared off like some magical snow-removal ninja had swung by. Honestly, it felt like Santa was moonlighting as chalet maintenance. We did lose heat the first night for a few hours, which gave us an unexpected "polar survival" experience, but those thick duvets were life-savers. Overall, 10/10. Already plotting how to make this my permanent address.

Inn the Clouds Hostel & Inn - Cute cabin

This is a very homey and cozy hostel in Leadville. It looks like a cute cabin from the outside. I…read moreloved the common area with plenty of comfortable places to sit, and the kitchen was very well stocked. I didn't really partake in the social atmosphere as I was very tired, and the people there seemed older. It is certainly not a young person party hostel. However, my friend I came with previously came a year ago and made good friends. The main issue that my friend and I felt made our stay uncomfortable was the restrooms. They don't have stall doors for the toilets. They just have a flimsy curtain that you can't secure in place, which was super awkward and made me feel on edge every time I was in there. Their showers also don't have doors, but that is more acceptable. We stayed in an 8-bed mixed dorm, and it was comfortable. I really liked how they have full-size vertical lockers with keys that you can use for storage. When we checked in, they said one of us had to be on the bottom bunk and one on the top. It worked out for us, but if there are other beds available it doesn't seem fair if both people have a preference for a bottom bunk just because you are friends. People in hostels are usually solo travelers anyways and need to share a bunk bed combo with a stranger.

It has a big kitchen, big living room, big lawn, and big den downstairs with TV/couches and a ping pong table. It's clean-ish, pretty much your standard hostel. The showers were a pleasant surprise - quite clean actually on the ladies' side so that was a huge relief! The beds were simple bunks in the room I was in, and I was top bunk. Low ceiling so I couldn't sit all the way up but I could most way; i was also right by a water pipe so I could hear water running every time someone showered etc, but I stilled crashed from exhaustion/Im a heavy-ish sleeper. The room was a bit warm; with the window open it was way too cold so it was a wee bit stuffy but again nothing too bad. I slept fine overall, it was pretty decent as far as a hostel experience goes. Overall - if you're coming in late and leaving early for like 1 night (which I was), this hostel will serve your needs fine! But it is restrictive in how much you can move around/put your stuff in shared rooms so bear that in mind. Parking also interesting -- you can park along the south-west fences surrounding the place but when I came at 9p on a sat, there were no spots. I briefly parking across the street on Alder (to the west), but the folks who own the home came out and informed me i couldn't stay but COULD park by the stop sign across the street on 7th (to the south). The hostel said it was fine too, and I parked there overnight and nothing bad happened (ie towing). Overall: this place is fine for a short stay as far as I'm concerned! But you get what you pay for.

The 4 hour drive from Colorado Springs was rough, but the cabin that we were staying in was fabulous. We stopped at Arrowhead Mountain Lodge for drinks one day at their bar. The service was good and they have quite a selection. It's an interesting experience ordering drinks at a bar in the middle of nowhere. You can't buy a drink anywhere else for miles around. We ordered bloody Mary's after our friend did and they were spicy and a little hard to drink. But maybe it was because I had been accustomed to making my own shitty drinks for quite sometime that I wasn't used to drinking good stuff. There were a few other families eating dinner in the restaurant, adjacent to the bar. It felt very homey. They also play games and have themed nights for the guests and people living in the area. This area of Colorado is beautiful during the fall and winter. If you're ever itching to seclude yourself in the Colorado wilderness, I'd check this place out.

Based on that information, we felt comfortable doing so during our stay. By our third day, she began putting up signs and continued to harass us, stating, "This is the last time I will tell you," even though we had already explained that we were acting based on guidance from the front desk. What made this especially uncomfortable was that we felt singled out, and the repeated confrontations came across as targeted and discriminatory, raising serious concerns about possible racial bias. Clear communication between staff and respectful treatment of guests are essential. Unfortunately, this ongoing behavior overshadowed our experience and reflects poorly on the hotel's customer service standards. I hope management addresses both the inconsistency in policy communication and the lack of professionalism shown.
