Antero Hot Springs Cabins

Antero Hot Springs Cabins

(11 reviews)

The Antero Hot Springs Cabins are run down and poorly maintained. The price that is charged for…read morethese cabins is extremely high for what you get. They appear to have been quaint at one time but they are not now. First, these cabins are not remote at all. They are located right next to each other and there is a house on the hill overlooking two of them. We could hear the people next to us talking while they were in the back of their cabin, and I'm sure that they could hear us. There really isn't much privacy. The hot springs fed hot tub was nice but it was not clean. Supposedly, the tubs are drained and cleaned after every guest stay. I highly doubt that ours was drained let alone cleaned. I spent the first 30 minutes skimming out leaves and debris from the surrounding trees and plants. The cabins are rustic. They are definitely not luxurious. The shower is very small and basic. It is so small and dirty that you will be thinking: "why bother?" Ours had mold in the grout. BTW, it takes almost 10 minutes for the water to get hot. I could give some more specifics but if you've read this far, I think you get the idea. If you're not concerned about having a lot of privacy and cleanliness etc, these may be worth a visit...but I think for the price, you can do a lot better. One more thing: there is a review on Yelp or Google about the owner's dogs bothering some guests. When my friend, who booked our stay, inquired about it, the owner or an employee named Jessica replied in a way as to suggest that there was no problem. However, when we got into the cabin and read some of the many signs and rules, one mentioned that if loose dogs come near the cabin to not feed them or let them into the cabin. It described the dogs as being "valley dogs." I suspect that they are the owners dogs. I could hear dogs barking in the residence on the property. They didn't bother us at all but it made me suspect that the owners are not being forthright about the issue that had been reported in the review.

There is also a long counter area with a sink, microwave, and small refrigerator. The proprietors supplied the room with a portable burners, if you wish to cook. Since there weren't restaurants in the area, we stopped at Whole Foods in Denver and stocked up on food for the weekend. After a long day of hiking, this was a great place to relax and unwind. Oh yes, there was also wireless internet for those who must stay connected. Liz was a great host to us. She offered to loan us winter gear for our trek, and she had homemade peanut butter cookies waiting for us upon our return. We stayed two nights- early the morning of our attempt at Mt Elbert, she made a robust breakfast of eggs, bacon, and toast. The next morning was more relaxed, and she met us with pancakes and sausage. Delicious. The view was wonderful as well- on the patio, there are plenty of chairs to lounge around an outdoor fireplace, and there is a jacuzzi. All this overlooks Twin Lakes and the majestic mountains in the background. Next time, I hope to indulge in the outdoor amenities!

We had traveled out there in November to recon for the Leadville 100 MTB race. Then again we returned in August 2014 for the Leadville 100 MTB race. They have an awesome home, which they've shared with us as a B&B. Liz has cooked great us many great breakfasts and we've shared awesome conversations about all things in life - kids, life, teaching and the Leadville 100 MTB race. Since they live along the Leadville MTB race route and usually have racers staying with them, for the race they go out to cheer on and support the racers. They have a beautiful home, which I wish I could actually buy since they're selling it to move on to their next chapter in life. However, until they sell it appears they will either rent the entire house or just the B&B portion. Don't hesitate to contact James or Liz to spend the night or even 10 days with them... You won't regret it! We really hope to can stay at A Wolf Den for the 2015 Leadville race. Not only have Liz & James been great inn keepers, they have become friends whom we'll keep in touch with for years to come.

Creekside Chalets & Cabins - King room with en-suite bathroom and steps from your private hot tub

The place was so clean, I half expected a cleaning fairy to waltz in and curtsy. The furniture and beds? Comfier than a post-Thanksgiving nap. Pillows? Fluffier than a baby alpaca. And those clear plastic boxes for extra bedding? Pure organizational wizardry. Marie Kondo would weep. Cozy blankets made me consider quitting my job and becoming a professional blanket burrito. Pet friendly too--complete with poop bags and couch covers so my dog could live her best life and I didn't have to wrestle her off the sofa like a WWE match. The smoking station on the back porch? Genius. Keeps butts out of nature while still letting smokers feel fancy. The kitchen? Huge table, solid chairs, and a crockpot that made me feel like I'd been transported to a cooking show. Quality pots and pans for days, but only four coffee mugs. FOUR. For a whole chalet. Are we hosting an exclusive espresso club? And one dish towel? My sponge practically filed a complaint. Here's the kicker: it snowed overnight the first night, and by the time we came back from skiing, the walkway was shoveled and the hot tub lid was cleared off like some magical snow-removal ninja had swung by. Honestly, it felt like Santa was moonlighting as chalet maintenance. We did lose heat the first night for a few hours, which gave us an unexpected "polar survival" experience, but those thick duvets were life-savers. Overall, 10/10. Already plotting how to make this my permanent address.

This place is three stories with a condo at the bottom that can be separate or can be rented along with the top 2 floors if you have a lot of folks. We rented the entire place so that means 2 kitchens, 2 washer dryers, 2 living areas, etc. The downtsfairs condo itself is gorgeous and would be awesome if you just have 2 people. King bed, steam shower, living area, fully appointed kitchen. Come up the stairs to the second floor where you find a huge master bedroom with king bed, huge master bath with steam shower and a stand alone tub. There is a washer dryer on this floor. Another bedroom has king bed, full bath, and entrance to the back itself in case you want to sneak in late. Another bedroom also without a bathroom inside but there's one across the hall. Did I mention that bathrooms have robes and slippers? And that the floors are heated? And that the bedrooms have fireplaces? It's truueeee! Then we have the top floor with an awesome kitchen with top of the line appliances and everything you need. And a nice sized living/ dining area along with a bar too. The patio outside is a superstar! Lots of furniture. Hot tub!! Grill!! Views or the mountain and town. The guy that met us and showed us the House was a wealth of info. They quickly responded to inquiries and were genuinely interested in the comfort/enjoyment of our stay. We had some changes in the length of our stay and they were able, and willing, to accommodate our request. Our family of eight chose to stay in a beautiful home, 903 Swift Circle. Perfect location. Beautiful accommodations. Location: Rocking chairs and comfortable seating on the front porch affords beautiful views of surrounding mountains. Access to the river and the popular South Main beach area is within short walking distance. A little longer but scenic walk will bring you to the busy shops/eateries on Main Street. Delightful! Accommodations: Spacious. Clean. Nicely appointed. Beautiful artwork. Access to the third 'floor' bedroom was via a tight staircase. A private room with two double beds, a TV, and full bath was perfect for my daughter and guest. A beautiful stairway led to three second floor bedrooms, all with king-sized beds and one access to the second-floor deck. The master bedroom and bath was spacious and included an exquisite glassed-in shower. The other two rooms shared a full bath. On the ground floor was a beautiful breakfast nook where family enjoyed eating, laundry room, powder room, and kitchen/family area. The Murphy Bed in the dining room accommodated another guest. You can't put a price tag on the joy of having all of your family in one place, comfortable and happy! We are thankful for the engagement of SMVR who provided excellent service and accommodations for celebrating our joyous occasion! Oh! The views from 903 Swift Circle are spectacular.
