My husband, and 2 dogs stayed at Mountain Goat Lodge about 2 months ago. We absolutely loved it! The breakfast was amazing, and the owners were so friendly (we thought the husband was a hoot!). Close enough to downtown Salida and not too far away from Buena Vista for a reasonable price! Keep in mind that this is dog friendly so if you have allergies like me, you will need to bring some allergy medicine. We have two hypo allergenic dogs and I completely forgot that I am allergic to dog hair. They do keep beddings clean but there obviously is residue of dog hair on the ground so my allergies were acting up so please be aware before booking! We will absolutely be back with our bubbas next time we visit Salida!

We had a great time. We all had fun playing with the goats, chickens and ducks. Breakfast was fantastic. Darcy and Gina were excellent hosts. We enjoyed getting a class on cheese making and learned a lot about milking goats.

We drove from Denver just to visit the goats and partake in the morning tour and let me tell you, it was AWESOME! The goats are so loved and well cared for. The property is beautiful. The owners give the tours and you can interact with the goats and even try their fresh milk and cheese afterwards. The owners are SO kind you can tell they really love what they do and they really love these goats. The goats are very friendly and there is a big Llama who watches over them like they are her children. I cannot rate this experience enough. We went in the winter but now that it's summer we're planning to go back :)

We loved this lodge! The owners, Gina and D'Arcy, were so friendly and accommodating. Our room (just a regular king) had a beautiful view of Mt. Princeton, bed was super comfortable, and room was very clean. The breakfast was a super yummy, delicious home cooked meal. Great hot tub to jump in at night to look at the stars. Great lodge to bring your dog too, nice unleashed fenced area. The lodge is still close to downtown Salida and lots of hiking. Not to mention all the goats! The backyard is filled with friendly goats that's you can play with. We just loved our stay here!

My husband and I spent valentines weekend here at first we were not sure what to expect... This place is a Gem and must if you are visiting Salida. The rooms were adorable, spotless, and super Cozy! The homemade breakfast and coffee were Delicous! The only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!

Before we left I let Gina know what a fabulous chef she was, better than the best restaurants we had tried in Salida!

The kind of hospitality you would expect at a five-star hotel! This B&B is truly a gem in the wilds…read moreof Colorado. Sharon and Chuck are warm and welcoming and will go out of their way to make your stay in St Elmo memorable. St Elmo itself it worth the visit and takes you back to the glory days of the gold & silver boom and bust. The history and sheer preservation of the town are remarkable. The B&B accommodated our children (8 & 11) and put on a heck of a spread for breakfast and dinner. It was well worth the extra charge for lunch as it was also well made (and there isn't any other dining options for at least an hour drive away). They even provided us free chipmunk feed! Be aware, there is NO cellular service but guests will have access to WiFi. The building itself could easily be mistaken for a renovated hotel from the 1880's but you'd be wrong as it was constructed in 2002. The reclaimed wood, furniture, and features make it fit right in with the ghost town. The chipmunk village is a must-do for kids and kids at heart! The hikes and trails surrounding the area are fairly easy and there are even more hidden points of interest in the surrounding the valley. We stayed during Labor Day weekend so be aware of ATVs and 4x4's during the summer months. We would love to stay again!

A girlfriend and I visited the Ghost Town Guest House a couple of years back, and I'm just now…read morenoticing that it's not on Yelp! Not surprising, since it's out in the middle of a ghost town... We went up during the winter, just because. My understanding (speaking directly to Chuck and Sharon) is that they're open 24x7x365 for reservations - I just checked their website to confirm and it appears they're still going strong. During the cold months, the B&B is literally the only thing open, St Elmo is population: 2, plus whomever is staying there. That makes it incredibly cool, quiet, and just awesome. Snowmobilers and showshoers will show up and wander around during the daylight hours; otherwise it's just you and nature. If you dare brave the route, I actually do recommend the wintertime. Sharon is an amazing cook (pay the extra for all three meals!), and Chuck built the house himself. They used a ton of reclaimed woods and rustic materials; I would hate to detract from the beauty of the property (and the town) by attempting to describe it. I'll simply say that it's warm, friendly, and totally worth the trek. As wonderful a B&B as I've ever been. They even took us out on a snowshoe hike and told us a tremendous amount of history about St. Elmo, the mining operations that built and ruined the town, and all sorts of other interesting tidbits that make it a special place for them. It will be a special place for you too. Check out the website!
