First time! Coworker recommended me to come here. I looked at yelp page and saw 4.5 stars. I said this place must be good then. I had high expectations for this place and guess what. It did meet my expectations. I ordered just one single teriyaki burger which came out to be like $4.58? They did not give me a receipt. Also it's cash only. Anyways service was relatively quick. Everything seems old fashioned. The man at the register has to lift the screen up from the window to hand food or do any transaction. They do not have any numbering system and they remember your order by remembering your face. I only had a burger so my order was real quick. The cashier just stared at me without saying anything, so I went up and he handed me my food. I took a photo of my burger and it looks a bit depressing. I think the bun is a little squished or something. I took a bite and it was very delicious. Meat is firm and moist. Has lots of balanced flavor. Wish it had tomato in there. Overall it tasted really good. Food itself is 5/5. Overall experience I felt it was 4 out of 5 for Yelp review. Would definitely coming back to try out their teriyaki bowls. read more

I usually wait after two to three visits before writing a review, unless it was super delicious. Wishing Pitburger was much closer to home in the San Gabriel Valley but definitely willing to drive 25 miles... 5 stars!!!!! Just happened to be in the neighborhood passing by when I was told by my partner that Pitburger has been in Gardena for ages! Checked out the Yelp reviews and was pleasantly surprised to find out that our good friend, Alex C, grew up in the area eating at Pitburger and that his mom even worked at the place at some point. Lunch dilemma solved! Definitely deserving to be considered a Gardena institution after tasting the yummy food at Pitburger! We chose to order the Beef Teriyaki Plate, the Teri Burger, and the Chili Fries with Cheese and Onions. The total amount came up to about $20. Loved that the beef in the beef plate was super tender and the teriyaki sauce was perfect, not too salty and not too sweet. Just right, and the beef teriyaki tasted so yummy and comforting with the white rice! Not to be outdone, the Teri burger and the Chili Fries were also super delicious. The tender and flavorful teriyaki beef slices went so well with the beef patty, and loved the thin cut of fries with the chili smothered in cheese and onions. The burger and the fries held up pretty well with the drive home despite our concerns. It will be pretty hard to decided between the beef plate and the burger at our next visit. Definitely pretty big portions of food for two, but we finished everything to the last bite! read more

Admittedly, today's visit was my first visit in over 40 years! I used to pick up lunch or dinner from Pit Burger when I lived closer to Pit Burger and always enjoyed their food. I ordered a teriyaki chicken burger and chili cheese fries, so yummylicious, but the teriyaki chicken burger got a bit messy. One will need a lot of napkins when wolfing down this sandwich. The chili cheese fries were tasty & the chili is very mild. I would've preferred a bit spicier chili. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Pit Burger stand apparently has gone unchanged since my last visit, except for the menu and prices.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately, only one beverage is available for purchase and no bottled water, which is the only downside I can think of. Also, cash is king at Pit Burger, no credit cards accepted. Overall, I am pleased with my visit to Pit Burger. Will I return in another 40 years? Made a Pitstop on the way home and ended up here. Let me tell you. This has been one of the better burgers I've had in a while. No lie. The Teriyaki burger with cheese was pure deliciousness. The chargrilled beef with lettuce and melted cheese on a toasted sesame bun. Paired it not only with fries but onion rings too. Dont judge. Washed it down with a coke with extra carbonation. The Mister enjoyed his double cheeseburger with extra cheese and a Orange Bang. Everything was off the hook. Located in Gardena. Prices were great. We spent about $23.00 for everything. Right now it is take out only. So you can eat in the car or take it home. read more

Was painting a house out in the Area and found this little Gem on Yelp!! Needed Lunch for me and my friends and decided to give it a try. The Service was great and they were very welcoming. I had the Chili Bowl and boy was it delicious. My friends ordered Cheeseburger Combos and literally told me they were the best Cheeseburger they've had in a long time. Got the Teriyaki Burger and it was tasted good. The meat was well cooked with plenty of flavor, but a bit tough on the chewy side. Just be careful of the teriyaki sauce, it is watery. Make sure you have plenty of napkins. Chili cheese fries was ok. It taste the same just like any other chili cheese fries. read more

Passed by the place many times, always intrigued, and finally stopped by! I enjoyed my meal a lot. Ordered the double Chicken Teriyaki plate. The chicken was delicious, and went well with the perfectly-portioned rice. The cabbage slaw seemed an unusual accompaniment but, once I tried it, liked that too. The half hamburger bun it came with was even tasty, especially dunked in the remaining sauce! My only gripe is their lack of credit card acceptance. I'm old-fashioned in some ways, and can appreciate places having old-fashioned policies, but credit card use is almost universal - and easier than dealing with cash for both business and customer. I'll most-definitely be back, but would be back more often if they started taking credit cards. read more

My daughter and I came here after a recommendation from a food blogger, we don't live in the area so we made the trip just to try it out. 1. Ambience or decor was nice you can tell it's been around for a while, has that old school feel. No place to sit down and cash only as others have already stated overall no big deal take your food and go. We ordered ahead of time so no long wait. Customer service was good. 2. Cost - we bought a double portion of the chicken and beef combo with extra toast, teriyaki burger and onion rings and extra sauce on the side. Our total was 27:49 which was pretty reasonable for what we ordered. I would like to add the portions didn't really look like a double more like a single 3. Food - let's start with the famous teriyaki burger. Overall it was mid I'd say 5 out of 10, the meat was pretty dry not much teriyaki sauce. It didn't blow us away but it was better than the combo plate. The combo plate was ok the extra sauce was definitely needed as there wasn't enough sauce. I'd give it a 4 out of 10. The onion rings were below average so much so I almost forgot to mention them. 4. This is the best neighborhood joint in LA. Their teriyaki is amazing. Cooked perfect over open flame. Meat is tender with the perfect amount of char and their teriyaki sauce is a perfect blend of salty-sweet. You can't go wrong ordering either the teriyaki beef or chicken (I usually get the combo) which comes with rice and a random pickle. You can also get a dinner play that comes with meat, rice and a salad. But my favorite it the teriyaki burger. It doesn't come with an actual hamburger patty, but a big piece of their teriyaki beef on a soft bun with teriyaki sauce, Mayo and lettuce. It's always so tender a delicious. read more

Driving down Normandie Avenue, you can smell the Teriyaki BBQ with your windows up. My family and friends have been enjoying this Terikyaki spot with me for years now and we are never disappointed. We always get their chili cheese fries along with their beef combination plate which comes with a small cabbage salad with their thousand island dressing, buttered bread and their sweet teriyaki beef over 2 scoops of hot rice.
