    Lamb Shawarma Plate

Lamb Shawarma Plate (looks like beef). Ordered for takeout & by the time I got to it (not very long after) it was already cold. Pita bread was tough & chewy, meat was overcooked & dry, rice was still warm. Also their salad is just 2 slices of tomato, 2 slices of cucumber, and a few slices of red onion on top of lettuce. Very low effort plate for the price.

Pita's Mediterranean Grill is seriously one of my favorite spots in San Marcos. I've been coming here since I was a kid, and it's been consistently good for as long as I can remember. They've been open over 20 years and it definitely shows. Today I got the falafel plate, chicken kebab plate, and chicken shawarma plate, and everything was so good. Super flavorful, very authentic, and really affordable. I'm on a health journey right now and this place is perfect. Fresh food that actually fills you up and makes you feel good. Service is always on point. The owner is usually there working, and all the employees are incredibly sweet and welcoming. They're also really quick, so you're never waiting forever for your food. I've had their rice pudding and baklava before too and both are great dessert options if you still have room. If you're looking for solid Mediterranean food with great service and fair prices, this place is a must. Can't wait to come back!

I ordered the lamb shawarma plate to-go last night and I got to see them cook it fresh. Other than a bit of fatty pieces, the lamb portion was huge. The salad had cheese, purple onions, tomatoes and cucumbers. The hummus was also really good. He gave us 2 different sauces (a spicy flavored one and a creamy yogurt one) which I enjoyed with the lamb. Service was easy and quick. The guy who took our order also made the food. I was conflicted on whether to get the sandwich or plate but he offered to make it into a sandwich if I wanted the plate since the plate comes with a pita. He was very nice. He also got us all the sauces!

Ordered food here via DoorDash for lunch during work, and my Chicken Shawarma Plate arrived on time. Service was great. I've dined in prior and the atmosphere was cleaning and inviting. The salad was fresh, the rice was delicious with the toasted almonds mixed in, and the Chicken Shawarma was perfection. I added a side of hummus and it was tasty too. I love ordering from them, and it's been a minute since I have, but the food quality is just as great as I remember.

I really don't get the reviews here. This place has seen better days. Old furniture and restrooms were not well cleaned which was a bad start. Food was very disappointing for the reviews . Sadly it was soooo dry both the Tri tip and chicken shawarma plates. Both guys behind the counter were not even wearing hair nets while cooking and prepping while using the same gloves to cook and operate the TV remote . I get their younger guys management seems checked out on a supposedly busy weekend lunch time. Hard pass

I stopped by here on my lunch break. There was a line but it moved quickly. I ordered the grilled chicken kabob plate. It comes with rice, salad, pita bread, and hummus. I enjoyed the chicken. It was not dry and had good flavor. The hummus was good too. Salad was fresh but did not appear to have any dressing on it. I enjoyed my lunch here.

REALLY GOOD!! Great food, good prices, and great service. They gave us a sample of the chicken that had just been made, were helpful, patient and very quick to make the food. PLUS the falafel salad, pita bread, and the lamb pita sandwich were delicious. The Lamb sanwich was also spilling with lamb. 10/10 would come back to try the rest of the menu items.

Fist time stop in. Let the cashier know and asked for advice. Got the 50/50 chicken steak salad. And the kabobs plate. And they hooked up all the sauces for me. Being it was my first time. Serving are huge and food dank! Had to tap out and take the rest home. Great food and nice size servings! Thanks Josh

All tables were the night were booked up so we were lucky to be the first people there for bar seating. The inside was extremely beautiful! It's a really cool experience and reminds me of the restaurant that's inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland except on a greater scale. The interior and decor really set the atmosphere. The bathrooms were also super nice with sinks on the outside so people can wash their hands if they don't need to use the toilets. The food was amazing. We ordered different appetizers: Manakish Za'atar, Barbari, Tarator, Falafel, and Fire Roasted Cauliflower. Everything tasted amazing but the falafel was exceptionally delicious. It was probably the best falafel I've ever had. So moist and flavorful! We were a group of 5 sitting bar seating trying to figure out what's the best way to split our food and luckily our server was very helpful and let us know we've save more money getting the Soltani platter since we were all ordering individual kabob platters. We upgraded our rice to the tah dig. The kabobs were super seasoned and moist. The platter was super filling. We were incredibly full after. The sauces on the side were a great balance with the meats. Highly recommend! Service was amazing and we all truly loved our meal!

Why did I come here?…read more With a hunger for mediterranean and the worry that nearby Aria may be a bit too pricey for a quick meal, I brought my son out to The Pita Guys for some gyro or shawarma. What we found were limited options, higher than expected prices, less than helpful staff, and not the best of food. Being my first time, I had questions about the menu. The young pair behind the counter didn't seem to know what they were serving, as they kept looking at one another for guidance with little ability to give me much relevant info on anything other than what types or protein they had. Once I finally ordered, they started to taking and filling the orders of people behind me. It wasn't until a much older woman came in from the back before my own dinner started being prepared. Seriously, it was a pretty weird setup. The food was served Subway style, where they go down the line asking what you wanted added to your wrap. Shawarma meat is minced, staying warm in a tub, and scooped to order by a spoon resting in a bin of cloudy water. Not only did it feel a bit gross, but it also seemed that the bulk of the juice in the meat came from that watery spoon, as the shawarma I ate was very dry. When it came to my son's Shawarma Plate, the menu stated that it came with two sides. What they don't tell you is that the only choices on the 'sides' menu open to you are Hummus and a Salad. The much more desired sides of Falafel, Baba Ghanoush, or even kid friendly Fries, were not offered. Needless to say, my son ate his chicken and rice, but wouldn't touch his hummus. So, a Shawarma Plate and a Shawarma wrap ... dinner for two, not a ton of food, neither of us were all that impressed ... and it cost us over $40. Needless to say, with how everything tasted and what it took to get ... we won't be coming back. For the price it cost us, I think we'll stick with the far superior Aria up the street. Or, at the very least, try the Kebab Shop down the block.

This is a "large" bowl for $17. Pretty sad considering you can buy an entire rotisserie chicken at any grocery store for like $6-10.

While the chicken and gyros were actually really good, the rest of the food was a letdown, the rice and salad were completely bland, and the bread was stale. Also the beef kebab was dry and saltier than the dead sea. On top of that, we got hit with surprise charges for sauce and peppers that nobody mentioned to us beforehand. Every restaurant i went to gives out sauce and condiments for no additional charge or notifies us. They didn't even bring us water until we explicitly asked for it, and they never came back to refill it once. Most places keep water topped off, but they definitely cut corners here. Our waitress was nice, but the waiter had a super forced smile and made it obvious he didn't want to be there. The bathroom itself was clean, but they had a sign telling people not to flush anything including toilet paper, which is a total health hazard and a weird oversight for a restaurant. Some people may interpet this literally Between the mid food, hidden fees, lazy service, and weird bathroom signs, we won't be coming back. Save your money and go somewhere else.

UPDATE JUNE 30, 2026: You can find this information…read moreonline......During March 27-April 30th, 2026, an outbreak of E-coli was reported on the San Diego news. 9 people were hospitalized, including children. That outbreak resulted in a lawsuit coming from the parents of one of the children who was gravely ill and hospitalized. All people hospitalized had eaten the Beef Kofka (ground beef). The Kabob Shop's supplier, Olympia Foods was blamed. Now do we currently have a June outbreak, only the meat affected is Shaved Lamb-Beef???? Original review: I'm not sure what was going on in this restaurant the night of Friday, June 26, but I had to report a health issue caused by the food shown in my pic from that night. The disgusting smell from this order was so bad, I had to take it out of the kitchen. It literally smelled like dog poop. The dish in question is the Lamb/Beef Plate, which had a pile of meat, accompanied by enough yellow rice to feed many, and a teensey piece of dry pita bread. There also was a missing salad. All I can say is beware because the reviews here are 95% positive, and our past experiences with The Kebab Shops have been good. It could have been just a one-off that night, but it doesn't seem so. Judging by the extensive questioning that DoorDash did when handling my complaint, I just know something more was going on that night to have made me so sick. When you are transferred to DoorDash's Food Safety Department, they're taking your complaint seriously. And investigating it.
