Excellent food. Service was great. Perfect view of the ocean and lovely staff. I would definitely go back.

Food: 4* Service: 4* but very slow Ambiance: 4* Enjoyed dinner here one night of our stay. Heard from a few people that they believed the food here was better than de Cortez, which intrigued us. Found out that was NOT the case. On the 2 page menu (see pictures), i wanted to order that two piece shrimp tempura, but was told that the "snacks" section was an extra cost ($16 USD more) even though we had the all inclusive package. Huh? $16 for 2 pieces of shrimp tempura? Crazy expensive. So, I ordered the grilled octopus, and the fillet. The octopus was good, properly grilled, tasty and not rubbery. The beef fillet, it was tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. But the flavor was lackluster. It tasted that it was cooked on a flat top and not a grill. No sear marks, not grilled flavors. Good, but not great. Like at de Cortez. A few at our table wanted to just have a couple appetizers and not a full meal. They were told you are limited to one appetizer and one meal per person, per visit. Huh? How does that make sense? The appetizers were good, but small. Our reservation was at 745pm. We arrived at 7pm for a cocktail. We let them know we were in the bar, which can see the entire dining room, they acknowledged us and our reservation. I noted what looked like our table for 8. A nice round table all setup and ready. Enjoyed our cocktails and then went to the front desk at 8pm to ask if they were ready for us yet. She said she would come and get us. About 15 minutes later, she took us to our seats and gave us menus. No one stopped by for another 30 minutes to offer water or drinks, or wine. We stopped a waiter and asked if we could order some drinks. He said yes and took our drink orders. When the drinks arrived 10 minutes later, we asked if they were ready for our dinner order. He said let me get your waitress. At the hour mark of no dinner ordering, we stopped another waiter, who was replenishing our water glasses to order. Mind you only. 50% of the tables were occupied at this point, so not sure the hold up. From there on, we didn't get our appetizers for another 30 minutes and then main course 45 minutes after that. I'm all for a long leisurely meal, but after 2.5 hours, we were ready to go back to our hotel. I hope you fare better than us should you go.

    Almost full moon...

Update October 27, 2023 Staying at Hacienda Del Mar again this Fall, here for a "birthday week" and had dinner at Pitahayas this evening. Despite enduring Hurricane Norma only 6 days ago, the restaurant was up to speed this evening. Service was good, attentive, but not intrusive, and the pace of the meal was good. The "almost" full moon helped to set the atmosphere for the evening! We started by ordering a Grenache Blanc from the Malagon Vineyard in Guadalupe, Mexico ("when in Rome...") which was actually very good. The only issue with the wine was the temperature when brought to the table... cool, but not chilled, as one would expect from a well-run cellar. Could have been weather related, but it's an issue we've encountered before. A bucket of ice solved that issue after about 30 minutes... Along with the wine, the first deliveries to the table were an amuse bouche of watermelon, sprinkled with feta cheese, which was quite delicious. At the same time, the bread board arrived with a steaming hot loaf of sourdough bread with a side of cheese/olive oil and "burnt onions." The burnt onions are "a thing" at Pitahayas. A bit unconventional, but we see it as cutting edge... burn the onions in the oven, let them cool, and then turn them into powder. Very creative IMHO and a delicious (and unusual) accent to include in a dish. PS the burnt onions show up in other dishes as well, and always add a flavor note that is delicious! For starters on the menu, we ordered the crispy shrimp, which is a favorite of many visitors to the restaurant. Lightly battered and fried to perfection. Detracting from the shrimp was the peanut-sauce concoction under the shrimp and the accompanying sauce. The shrimp was delicious but needed a better pairing. Next up, a berry sorbet palate cleanser ... very good indeed, and provided a wonderful bridge to the entrees to follow... Entrees this evening were creamy rice with lobster tail and the blackened fisherman's catch of the day... both were very good, but we agreed the blackened fish was the star of the evening. The creamy rice was much like a risotto, with veggies, and the lobster tail was a decent size and fresh. Very good! The blackened fish was "Mexican seabass" (in the grouper family), The seasoning was perfect, very tasty spices with a little heat! The best surprise is what we believe was squid-ink rice under the fish, we'll have to circle back with the chef on that... it was great! The veggies on the plate were room temperature, likely not freshly cooked when the fish was prepared. There are only so many hands in the kitchen. A very nice touch from the restaurant was a complimentary birthday dessert served with a flaming, sparkling firework on top, and serenaded by the staff singing happy b-day. A small chocolate ganache cake with blueberries and meringue drops... a very nice touch... All in all, a very good meal, with a few misses as noted in this review. Pitahayas is worth a visit if you're in the Cabo area!

Fantastic food, attentive service in a gorgeous location. The seafood was fresh, the filet was tender and flavorful and you can't beat that view!

$160 for wagu strips and "snak" appetizer sampler with an incredible view and lounge lizard doing jazz. Wagu was medium not medium rare, hard abd chewy. But it was still smoky and flavor just over cooked for such good piece of meat. Snak appetizer was also fairly good at 1000p or $50. Restaurant would not let me sit in the table section due to reservations, so I settled for the bar. After 2 hours 90% tables left empty. Hope there is some irony there. Maybe it's because I didn't come dressed handsomely but like a Hawaiian dude. Whatever!

Enjoy an ocean front dining experience with exquisite dishes and delicious cocktails. Incredibly friendly and attentive staff. Please share with them if you're celebrating any occasion. The sound of the ocean and beach club tunes makes it a very relaxing and joyful experience. Gabino was our server and went above and beyond to make sure dinner was exceptional. Thank you.

FAKE WINE TASTING FROM HACIENDA DEL MAR
    Nicole M.

Pitahayas was dishonest about our booking and "cancelled" the scheduled wine tasting with no notice. They claim that they had no reservations, when 6 reservations were made. Then, Pitahayas changed story and claimed they cancelled the tasting this morning... when 2 reservations were made by Hacienda Del Mar after it was cancelled? The manager Giovanni claimed he had no idea of the tasting, then changed story that he cancelled it this morning. He offered to put together a table for us to eat dinner if we wanted to dine tonight as an apology... but also didn't apologize for the inconvenience or say sorry.

    Oysters and octopus
    Rica A.

Best restaurant that I've been to--and I'm from Las Vegas. There were so many unexpected surprises for additional courses, like the amuse-bouche and unbelievably perfect bread. I don't like oysters but the presentation on the duo oysters was irresistible. If oysters tasted like this in other places, I believe I'd be a regular fan of them. El pulpo/the octopus appetizer was wicked good. I loved the spring roll dessert because I love plantains, coconuts, and churros. I would describe it like a turon (Filipino dessert)/plantain wrapped in a churro. Service from everyone was exceptional--especially Eduardo who helped me practice my almost-forgotten Spanish.

My husband and I have been coming to this restaurant for the past 5 years and to be honest didn't previously enjoy the menu, however, this year everything has changed. Pitahayas is our new favorite place for fine dining in the Cabo area. We stay at the resort it's located at for a full week at least once a year. You cannot beat the ambiance and beautiful aesthetics of this restaurant. The service is always impressive and the new menu is absolutely delicious. To sum it up: the espresso martinis are the best we've ever had. We both really enjoyed the Romain salad (which is their take on a Cesar salad). Not pictured is the crispy shrimp (comes with 2 as an app and definitely worth ordering, so tasty!) It was really hard to NOT eat the entire sourdough mini loaf - shout out tangy cheese butter. The beef filet was cooked a perfect medium and the whole dish paired perfectly. The miso soup was also fantastic and perfect on the rainy night. We both have a sweet tooth so, unfairly, the star of the show was the spring roll dessert that we shared. We had such a great time we went back for dinner a second night and almost ordered the same as our first night. Simply put, we will be making reservations at Pitahayas as long as the menu stays along this course and the service keeps being amazing. Thank you!

Building is beautiful and the views are stunning throughout the restaurant. It was a special company wide dinner with buffet style food that consisted of a meat buffet section, salad bar style and dessert section. I started at the salad bar where they offered a variety of salads like Caesar, beet, spinach and blue cheese, Thai and ceviche. I even tried an oyster and they recommended a sauce on top. My surprise was how good the oyster was and I wonder why I've waited until now to try it! I ate one of my husbands pot sticker and that to was delicious. The desserts were light and fresh, one was coconut pineapple, another was like a mini strudel and my favorite was the lemon bar. Beautiful restaurant with great views and tasty food.

The stunning views of the ocean are amazing. The staff and service are second to none. The food was super. The different specials ans the selection of items I never had before, and combinations of flavors was great. They just need some fans to move the warm humid air around, as it can get sticky being outside.

It was empty during peak dinner hours, which in hindsight should have been a telltale sign but, we didn't think anything of it as Asian food was hard to come by in that area. Our party of six decided to sit in the outdoor patio overlooking the Harbor. The menu, while limited looked promising. For starters we opted for the Gyozas and Chicken Satay. Both were decent but, nothing to write home about. Following our appz, we had their Malaya Coconut, Tuna Rolls, Caramelized Salmon, Caramelized Pork Ribs and Chicken Pad Thai. Each dish that came out was worse than the last. They lacked the proper Asian flavorings with some dishes being devoid of flavors altogether. For instance, the Chicken Pad Thai had an overwhelming flavor of ketchup while the Malaya Coconut was bland and watery and the Caramelized Ribs were tangy and one noted. This was the trend with all of the other entrees. Service was just about the only pleasant thing during our dining experience. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The price is moderate considering the location however, I feel that it's overpriced for mediocre food and I would not recommend this place.

For the entirety of our meal, we were the only diners in the restaurant. ORDERED: Tibet roll, oyster roll, salmon temaki, salmon sashimi, mixed sashimi, salmon salad, New York cheesecake, margaritas, coronas, and waters. PROS: Our server, Cristopher, was pretty good. He was attentive, made good suggestions, and checked in on us often. CONS: The food. The food was only meh. It tasted like something you buy from the supermarket in the refrigerated aisle, except this sushi was room temperature instead of being cold. The fish was mushy, soaked in the sauces, and not at all fresh. Also, the fish was room temperature/borderline warm. Bleh. Every roll had a Philadelphia roll base/filling and there was tons of cream cheese in them. The rice was also very mushy and overbearing. There was way more rice then there needed to be. We had the margaritas both on the rocks and blended. Each order of margarita was made completely different. In the blended order, the margarita was so salty. The salt wasn't because of the rim, the drink itself tasted like someone poured a handful of salt into it. For the second round of drinks, we ordered margaritas on the rocks. One of the cups was really sweet, and the other one tasted like there was only tequila in there (not necessarily complaining ). Ultimately, we ended up ordering coronas - because you can't screw that up... For dessert, we ordered tempura ice cream. Unfortunately, our server informed us that they had run out of this. So instead, we ordered a NY cheesecake. It was just okay. Nothing special or fancy. We were seated in the outdoor seating area. While we were eating, there were three recently flies who would not leave us alone! It was quite bothersome. Towards the end of the meal, there was a bee who joined in with the flies. This bee, though, was even more relentless than the flies and would not leave even after being swatted (making contact!) a few times. It flew on our cheesecake, into our margaritas, and everywhere in between. All while this was happening, our server and 5 other employees stood by idly watching us, talking about us, and laughing amongst one another! It was kind of annoying. Ultimately, we knew going into this place that this wasn't going to be the best sushi we've ever had or even anywhere near it. What we did hope for, though, was for the seafood to be much fresher and better prepared. BOTTOM LINE: Don't go. I would not recommend this place - not even if you are craving for Asian food.
