Came into pita pit today for the first time and was met with Paul one of the employees there, he welcomed me to the store and asked if I have ever been. I haven't, and asked what I should get. he recommended the gyro and stated it was their most popula, and then followed up with Greek. Both sounded amazing but the gyro seemed a bit more style. the sauce on the Greek sounded delicious and I was wondering what it tasted like. so I asked if I could have a sample and when I tasted I knew I needed to get that on my sandwich. Eventually I decided on the gyro with the sauce added on top, and I think it had to be the most delicious wrap Ive ever had. This was a really nice place for lunch. The Pita Pit crew was super kind and helpful. They cut our gyro in half for us and wrapped it separately for my wife and I since we shared it. We were not starving, but wanted a small bite before heading home to Kansas City. This was perfect. The restaurant was super clean, organized and well kept. This is the third or fourth time visiting The Pita Pit. I really don't know why I haven't reviewed them yet. Anyway, The Pita Pit is one of those hidden gems in a small town that not many people outside of town know. But they should. The storefront is kinda small but the actual restaurant is good-sized. It's comfortable and isn't overly filled with distractions. Whether you want to eat in or takeout, The Pita Pit is a sure fire restaurant. From a wide variety of options of pita sandwiches, gyros, bowls and many other offerings. Pita Pit is sure to make a great impression if you've never been. Vegetarians in Mason City will have an easy time. Vegans, not so much. Pita Pit is one of only a few places in town that has truly decent vegan options. You can choose from falafel, spicy black bean patty, hummus (red or regular), or Beyond Meat for a protein base. The hummus and Beyond Meat are gluten-free. They also have a gluten-free wrap which is vegan too. After choosing the protein you can then create the meal of your choice: wrap, salad, pita, or the new brown rice and quinoa bowls. The bowls are a low calorie option. Brown Rice and Quinoa Bowl - I ordered mine teriyaki style with Beyond Meat. I didn't really care for the bowl. It lacked flavor. Maybe it would be better with some extra seasonings added to it. BYO Gluten-free Wrap - I thoroughly enjoyed my wrap. I jacked mine up with Beyond Meat, grilled red onions and green peppers, hummus, avocado, spinach, banana peppers, jalapeños, red peppers, pickles, sriracha sauce, and Cajun seasoning. Woo-wee it was flavorful and delicious! The gluten-free wrap wasn't bad at all. Not the best GF tortilla I've had, but certainly not the worst. ($1.50 upcharge for the GF wrap) The employees at this location have been really nice. They did inform me that they are phasing out Beyond Meat at this location because it's not selling. However, they just ordered more, so it should be around for the next couple of weeks, at least. They also advised me that the smoothies can be made vegan by omitting the yogurt. Alot has changed in 7 years since I last visited this pita pit at this location. I was hungry for some Middle Eastern food..and well..yeah...unfortunately this is one of the few places you can get it. This place is clean, but it needed some remodeling. The counter was a bit damaged along the bottom. Some of the walls needed some touch ups. Service fast and friendly. Anywhoo.. I orderd the chicken soulvaki salad for $6.77. Kinda pricey for what I got. I remember when the salads were huge and cheaper. Guess not anymore. All the veggies looked fresh except the lettuce. Some of it was starting to look brown. Chicken was grilled. Hot and fresh. I added hummus on the side, but then they ended up shaking the whole salad together making a tossed salad. So much for enjoying my hummus on the side. I ended up sitting at a super wobbly table. Ate in a hurry and left. Everything still tasted good, just not as presentable as I would have liked. I still love pita pit, but not necessarily this specific one. Better than subway any day. read more

Nice place to grab a quick bite - clean facility no one was in there because well, Covid, but the food was fresh. They have plenty of options to choose from and you're able to customize your pita sandwich. The guy working there was a bit odd - seemed depressed, no greeting, no "can I help you" just a blank stare. Customer service probably ain't the right jive for ya buddy. They also have cookies that look amazing - might try next time. Plenty of available parking and easy access to eatery. read more

This was amazing they cook your meat and if you want your veggies on the grill they will do it. This is easy quick and great service.

Paul and crew do an awesome job. We use them often for catering for the business I work for. Always easy and delicious!

I usually order the chicken souvlaki with a healthy dose of vegetables, and its always delicious, though I wish the wraps were just a little bigger... But the tzatziki sauce and baba ganoush spread are very tasty! I do not, however, recommend most of the soups - the chicken and wild rice I ordered this time had the consistency of mucus and wasn't much tastier. Delivery is fine, at about an average wait. The downfall of the otherwise delectable wraps is the price - a wrap, soup and a smoothie with delivery tacked on ran almost $16, that's without tip. So, good wraps, but kinda pricey. read more

Still love this place for lunch-who doesn't freshly grilled meats and veggies on a warm pita? They do have vegetarian options, not my thing, but there aren't many options for veggie lovers in Mason City so that's a plus. Sadly, I do agree with the comments that the place has gone downhill since the ownership change. Last couple times I've been there they have had signs up listing what they were out of that day, and the soda machine has had issues. And don't bother going here after 4pm- they definitely have the B team working the night shift. read more

I honestly did not know what a Pita Pit was until I wanted food late at night and was tired of pizza. I had no idea they delivered, which was the main factor in me trying them. The food here is probably the best fast food I've ever had. Everything tastes great and being able to customize the Pita is fantastic. All the staff are incredibly friendly and always get the order right. Delivery times are also pretty quick, which is nice. I am a regular here and I plan to keep eating here for a long time. read more
