They'll recommend walks or hikes nearby, tell you how to do it the easy way, and they make a tasty breakfast. (Say yes to the local bacon) There are plenty of spots to hang out in the house besides your room, if you find yourself needing to wait out a spot of rain. Plus, it's very eco-friendly! They have a greywater system for the garden, they'd just had 21 days of heating the water for the house with solar &/or wood. Fairtrade & local are their monikers too. But they don't beat you over the head with it, you have to ask to find out that's what they do. I think this a lovely part of Snowdonia to visit, because it's not as well known. But you can hike for seven miles out behind the house before you hit another house, and you won't find super-busy trails full of other hikers. Big bonus in my book.

I'm happy to say we had no regrets! A couple things I'd highlight: -We met one of the owners (Colin, I believe) and he was super welcoming and suggested a great local restaurant around the corner called Watsons Bistro. -The rooms are very tasteful and the beds are comfortable. -The breakfast was tasty and the service was great. -The chapel is really very beautiful/special/fantastic/all the adjectives. -We parked right outside the walls for a cheap price. It was only a few minutes walk. No big deal. Conwy and Snowdonia were our favorite places to visit on our Wales trip, and the Gwynfryn Guest House definitely contributed to that! We would happily go back.

As of last Sunday 5/20/2017~ish, the new kitchen and breakfast room has been relocated to the old church chapel - it's awesome! So, the room I stayed in was in the "vestry" and was superb! All brand new, clean and cozy - the room was perfect! The ensuite bathroom was very nice (only needed some hand soap.) During my recent trip, I stayed twice, but a week apart...kinda coming and going. Both visits were stellar. Colin was extremely cool and accommodating (only met Monica briefly - she was quite friendly). I'm not sure how soon I'll be back, but I will only stay at Gwynfryn during my next visit to Conwy - it was PERFECT! 5 stars...so SOLID!

The people who run the guesthouse are friendly and helpful, using their local knowledge to recommend places to visit. The car park is secure, but its irregular shape can make parking somewhat of a challenge, when it's nearly full. The rooms are immaculately clean, and quiet and peaceful, even though the centre of Porthmadog is very close. They feel like they probably have too much furniture in them, but that is only a minor quibble. No smoking in the guesthouse is a definite plus. My only minor gripe is the continental breakfast, a little too self service! I don't mind making my own breakfast and I prefer a light start to the day, but the lack of variety or filter coffee, was a little disappointing. I would recommend Tudor Lodge to anybody and we will probably go back, but the breakfast could be improved.

The staff couldn't have made us feel more welcome, and our stay was quiet, relaxing and comfortable. The breakfast room is a definite plus - a nice place to relax in the morning, with a wide range of food on offer on a self-serve basis. No smoking in any part of the lodge (another plus) with an adjacent and secure car park for guests. Can't wait to go back, really.
