Tudor Lodge is 4 star guesthouse just off the High Street in Porthmadog. Its central position…read moreprovides a good base for visiting the local area including Portmeirion and the Welsh Highland Railway. The people who run the guesthouse are friendly and helpful, using their local knowledge to recommend places to visit. The car park is secure, but its irregular shape can make parking somewhat of a challenge, when it's nearly full. The rooms are immaculately clean, and quiet and peaceful, even though the centre of Porthmadog is very close. They feel like they probably have too much furniture in them, but that is only a minor quibble. No smoking in the guesthouse is a definite plus. My only minor gripe is the continental breakfast, a little too self service! I don't mind making my own breakfast and I prefer a light start to the day, but the lack of variety or filter coffee, was a little disappointing. I would recommend Tudor Lodge to anybody and we will probably go back, but the breakfast could be improved.

Rated 4 stars by the AA, I'm going to go one better and give it 5. We found this place quite by…read moreaccident (after a disappointment with accommodation we had previously booked elsewhere) and what a pleasant surprise it was on arrival. Situated at the end of Porthmadog's main thoroughfare - and therefore handy for everything - the Lodge is a classy guesthouse/B&B, with reasonable rates: Single from: £39.00; Double from: £64.00, has beautifully presented rooms (our ensuite bathroom was absolutely immaculate) and with tv and tea/coffee making facilities provided as standard. The staff couldn't have made us feel more welcome, and our stay was quiet, relaxing and comfortable. The breakfast room is a definite plus - a nice place to relax in the morning, with a wide range of food on offer on a self-serve basis. No smoking in any part of the lodge (another plus) with an adjacent and secure car park for guests. Can't wait to go back, really.

My friend and I stayed here in August 2022 and loved it! We chose the Gwynfryn Guest House because…read moreof its central location inside the city walls, good reviews, an amazing chapel breakfast area, and overall affordability.... I'm happy to say we had no regrets! A couple things I'd highlight: -We met one of the owners (Colin, I believe) and he was super welcoming and suggested a great local restaurant around the corner called Watsons Bistro. -The rooms are very tasteful and the beds are comfortable. -The breakfast was tasty and the service was great. -The chapel is really very beautiful/special/fantastic/all the adjectives. -We parked right outside the walls for a cheap price. It was only a few minutes walk. No big deal. Conwy and Snowdonia were our favorite places to visit on our Wales trip, and the Gwynfryn Guest House definitely contributed to that! We would happily go back.

What a solid B & B located in the super-charming walled town of Conwy, North Wales!…read more The main house contains rooms and a sitting area and what used to be the breakfast room. As of last Sunday 5/20/2017~ish, the new kitchen and breakfast room has been relocated to the old church chapel - it's awesome! So, the room I stayed in was in the "vestry" and was superb! All brand new, clean and cozy - the room was perfect! The ensuite bathroom was very nice (only needed some hand soap.) During my recent trip, I stayed twice, but a week apart...kinda coming and going. Both visits were stellar. Colin was extremely cool and accommodating (only met Monica briefly - she was quite friendly). I'm not sure how soon I'll be back, but I will only stay at Gwynfryn during my next visit to Conwy - it was PERFECT! 5 stars...so SOLID!
