Normally I'm not a B&B type, especially travelling solo, but I was very happy with my stay at Mairlys. I had their single room, which I don't think was used too often (I could be wrong) but it was still kept clean & was ready for use. The room had a bathroom, but the shower was in the hall just outside. Technically its a shared shower room, but even with the house full I had it to myself. Bernard & Marian were great hosts. The breakfasts (I always got the full Welsh breakfast) were very well prepared and for my trip up Snowdon they made me a nice take away breakfast & lunch that was ready early in the morning. Its in a great location on the main road not far from the railroad & center of town & its an easy walk to everything. Someday I'd like to get back to North Wales & Betws-y-Coed, & when I do I I'd defintely stay here again.

As it turned out, it was my favorite B & B - clean, comfortable, excellent breakfast, incredibly scenic and run by the nicest people - Mike & Sarah. One of my favorite things was breakfast. The breakfast room was really nicely decorated, great selection of cereals, juices, breads AND Mike is an excellent chef! I can't tell you enough how beautifully presented the food was delivered and how good it was - of the highest quality. Bryn Afon is an outstanding guest house/B & B in a beautiful location along the river with parking, lovely views and very warm and welcoming hosts. P.S. A little chilly in the rooms at night when not IN the bed but plenty of warm blankets. There is a cell room from when it was the courthouse that you can sleep in. But I swear it isn't creepy. That room also has a couch which it great to sit or spread your luggage out on. Warm shower. Small tvs in the room but who really needs a TV when traveling. LOTS of brochures in the lobby if you are interest in stuff in the area. The inn keepers are welcoming and warm and happy to answer any questions. Quaint bridge to watch the heron and river otters from. Cold in the winter here with snow on and off but what else would you expect from an area called snowdonia!?? Thanks for the stay!

The breakfast had a great choice of fresh fruit, berries and yoghurt. Lots a types of cereal and an extensive hot menu that is made to order. We are a family of 4 and we had the family room which consists of a double ensuite with an adjoining room with bunk beds. The attention to detail was remarkable. We will definitely be staying again.
