I had room to which was downstairs by the stairway. The room is nicely sized and decorated. The bathroom what is a good size as well with a standup shower, pedestal sink, commode and decorated with stainless steel siding. There's an air conditioner in the room and thankfully located right by the bed to my liking!!! The bed was very comfortable and once again the decor was beautiful. The night I was there they were a number of bird hunters staying in the lodge. I was expecting to hear talking, mouse, them climbing the stairs etc. However I found it very quiet and I slept extremely well. This was a unique and wonderful find and I'm so glad I was able to stay! It was awesome meeting you Donna and I hope to see you again!

My co-worker and I sat outside yesterday, in great rocking chairs, and watched doves and wildlife going about their business. This place is a "10"! I will be back!

Great food (had eggs Benedict one morning and it was fantastic and Philly Cheesesteak with fries for dinner which was also great). They said they make the fries in house and they were really good. Had a bloody Mary one morning with breakfast and it was prepared really well. Despite it being really hot the weekend we were there, the AC kept the room very cool and comfortable. The Saturday morning front desk staff woman on the other hand, was friendly. My mom made a simple request asking if there was a remote to the TV in the lobby. She looked at me, and my mom suspiciously and strangely like we were crazy. "I have the remote" She said,frustrated. She told us she could only keep the TV on a news station. My mom asked her if she could change the news channel, she was hesitant but finally changed it. She was displeased with my mother and told her that was why we had our own TVS to use in our hotel room. My mom Was shocked and asked her again politely, as this seemed like a simple hotel Guest request, and no one else was even paying attention. Her attitude was surprisingly nasty. She told my mother never she had never had anybody complain about the news station in the public area. Reluctantly, she changed the channel. After me and my mom finished eating, we then checked out and my mom was still kind to this woman and thanked her for the hotel stay. It seemed inappropriate and unprofessional as we had traveled half way across the country for a family funeral. Fortunately, my mom ignored her behavior. The lady kept coming by every few minutes to see if we were still sitting there, probably to change the channel back/ which was creepy because the front desk is far away and there's no way she could could even see or hear the tv from there. Also no one else around really seemed to care. The whole situation was weird. We didn't say anything, we just checked out and left. The other hotel staff was really nice and helpful! We enjoyed our stay except for this one lady who seemed to have a bad attitude in general. Hopefully Holiday Inn doesn't promote this aggressive behavior to its other customers, but my mom and I looked at some other reviews and we did wonder.

The morning breakfast is a typical HIX breakfast...I do wish they would shake it up a bit. There are no nearby breakfast venues so while it fills that need each morning...it is getting old...!!! Most certainly I will stay here again...I am very happy with my previous stays. I suspect there are some who complain just for the sake of complaining...listen, make up your own mind, I've made mine...good hotel, good room, great bed, HOT water, exercise room & outdoor pool...equals a good stay, and for me...a good nights sleep...!!!

I want to rate the Wildcatter about a 3.7 out of 5…read more Our first visit was over New Year's weekend in 2022. That Saturday the temperature dropped about 40 degrees and the wind starting howling fiercely. Because of the weather we didn't get to participate in any outdoor activities, so I vowed we would make a return visit. Thanksgiving week of 2025, we got to bring our daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons for a return visit to Wildcatter. I knew the ranch had been bought by a young couple about a year previously who wanted to upgrade some of the tired aspects of the ranch, so we were excited to explore all the offerings and see what had changed. The Wildcatter Ranch is set on a hill with beautiful views. There is plenty to explore so it is perfect for boys who revel in the outdoors. There is a fishing hole, there are horses in the stable to ride, there is basketball, tetherball, hiking, a pool and hot tub, and there are longhorns to feed each morning. These are all great activities we partook in. They supply guests with fishing poles, basketballs and towels for the pool. My disappointment? On both trips to the ranch, in all 3 cabins, the fireplaces did not seem to be working. (this is 3 cabins of about 12!) The hot tub that they told us we could use? Not working. The 'pony' ride for my grandson who is under 10, the age required for horse rides, that was advertised for 30 minutes? It was a 15 minute guided walk around a field on a horse. The 'hour' trail ride lasted 50 minutes. The session to 'learn grooming and care for a horse'? All three of us were literally handed brushes, told how to walk around the back of a horse, then left standing next to one horse to brush. The optional activities were a bit short on what was advertised, though both boys said their time with the horses was their favorite part of the visit. The steakhouse prices had gone up quite a bit since 2022. We can highly recommend the biscuits, however. They are heavenly.

Sagamar Inn is as good as they come for an overnight stay around these parts; run by good hard-working family who's just making a living in this great State and doesn't gouge too badly when everybody else has no vacancy. AI tech structures, Small Modular Reactors, Solar, and other alternative power has moved into west Texas, all these workers need a place to stay and filling up all the motels. Plan accordingly and keep your expectations for comfort, rest and sleep in a simple country perspective.

However to my surprise none of the above were true. I found a very clean room, very comfortable bed and pillows. This is a gem of a small motel. The only complaint was the wifi was to weak to connect my tablet or phone. I reported this to the front desk and they had no idea that it was not working properly and were very concerned. The last 7 years we have been staying in a lodge just outside of town. This year the lodge wasn't available. Oddly the Pipeliner has now become the Windmill. We were apprehensive at first, although we had heard the new owner was cleaning things up. We didn't have much choice, we booked the new Windmill for lodging. Wow, the new owner is really cleaning this place up. The days of old air conditioning units piled up out front seem to be gone. The new lighting is super, the rooms are clean and comfortable with modern furnishings. There was even a personalized note upon arrival from the owner/host. Whoever is running this place now, certainly cares more than the past owner. Thanks to the new owner, the hunt will continue. Dan

A decent quiet place marred by bad business practices…read more The $20 pet fee for my 1 dog was not disclosed during booking and significantly reduced the value received. On the 3rd floor there were high speed fans blowing down the hallway. They were noisy, unsightly and a potential tripping hazard. They shouldn't have been necessary had the hotel's main air conditioning and heater system been properly designed and operational. I was very frustrated that there was not ANY hot protein based breakfast. I wasn't expecting much: some bland, probably runny scrambled eggs and some poor quality breakfast sausage or bacon. Maybe some poor quality sausage and biscuits. There was none of that, so I had to go out for breakfast and spend money, time and effort for something I had every right to have been proved for free at the hotel.
