Shut the lights off for the pool table on us 2 hours before they closed and that was after I gave a 20$tip

The bouncer kicked my friends out for playing quarters without warning. Without skipping a beat or asking them to stop, the bouncer came in from his outdoor post & kicked our friend out by using a physical push. We have experienced this behavior from the bouncer before, by him calling my friend a bitch. I'm infuriated we are being treated like shit. I wish I could say this was antagonized by drunken behavior but it wasn't on all accounts. The fact he told our friend he was "strapped" when he kicked him out is outlandish. I don't know what he's going through to be this awful, but get him the fuck out. read more

I've been a regular here since my 21st birthday! Great atmosphere/music/drinks. All the staff here is AMAZING from bartenders to the bouncer. If they did not have the staff they currently have I would probably not come back, they keep Pioneer Pub going!! read more

Bouncer was super disrespectful and wouldn't scan my friends ID when it wouldn't scan the first time. She asked if he could scan it again because it had been rain but he refused and said it would just do it again. Seriously the biggest asshole i have ever met. the bouncer is ideal for this place these other people have him all wrong, he smiles and greets everyone when coming in and leaving, he makes me and all my friends feel safe. We literally only go there because of him. He deals with a lot of unpleasant people out front and somehow keeps his cool every time. People get upset because nothing they say phases him so they make things up about him like how rude he is or how he's a "terrible" bouncer all because they have no affect on him. They feel embarrassed so they resort to the backend and try to bash him to make him look bad at his job. He's great he is a key factor to that place. Ask any random person that comes in about him and I bet you won't hear anything bad. read more

Wish I could give this place less than zero stars. This place is terrible. Didn't even want to go, but ended up there with a group of people. Found out my ID was expired here (just barely)-- I left a DV situation and my mail doesn't come to me for security reasons for my kids and I. I appreciate them pointing this out, but super frustrated that they denied me entry because of it...I've worked in the service industry, and I'm clearly over 30. Honestly, I get it, but was pretty disgusting when the owner told me I had to wait outside after I had been waiting inside the door super respectfully for awhile at that point. THEN, he proceeded to tell another customer that he needed 30 minutes (because he had clearly been over served), but then to come back. Yikes. I also said "excuse me" when trying to leave and he basically blocked me for a sec and all in all, the entire thing was extremely uncomfortable.. and hurtful. And felt powerless despite the fact that I'm clearly over 30 but a wasted, over-served dude can come back in.. yuck. Just avoid this place altogether. The owner seems like a misogynistic douchebag. After overhearing chatter at another bar in town, we finally decided to check out the Pioneer Pub. It's like I'm back in a college town every time I go. Obviously, the only thing close to a college is CCC up the hill, but this place is pretty popular with the twenty- and-early-thirty-somethings... or at least the music is tuned to the generation. Drinks are STIFF, bartenders are cute, pool tables are upstairs, and for some reason everyone known the Cupid Shuffle on the dance floor. The only reason this place didn't get five stars-- It only seems to only be busy on Friday and Saturdays 10 or 11 to closing. Other than that, it's just another bar in Oregon City. The times we've been there, the music was loud, and the crowd was rowdy. So much so, the police were outside busting loudmouths. Keep your cool and have a designated driver (obviously). read more

Don't plan to eat any late night food here. The menu is very limited and the food was awful. I had chips and salsa with the most stale chips I have ever tasted. My sister in law had the chicken strips. The chicken strips weren't bad but the fries were way over done and very salty. I overheard a couple other people complaining about their chips and chicken quesadilla as well. The bathrooms were dirty and small. Other than that, the atmosphere is hopping. The band was excellent. If I could give negative stars I would. The guy who claimed to be the owner or manager during the Halloween pub crawl was EXTREMELY disrespectful to my friends and I. The security they hire act like they are defending the fucking White House or like a bouncer for some hip bar downtown Portland when in reality they are checking ID's for a shitty bar in Oregon City that tries to act like it's better then it actually is. I grew up in this town and have gone to this bar multiple times and almost every time I leave saying I'll never go back but I truly will never step foot in that dump again. And the fact that they charge a cover for some "events" and then don't update or make improvements to the bar is really just a poor reflection of the owner. I will say most of the bartenders that work there are really sweet, I hope the owner/management doesn't treat them as poorly as they treat their customers. read more

Pioneer Pub - the front of the building - Pubs Near Me - Oregon City, Oregon

For an Oregon City Pub in a location that was known more as a dive bar, I think the Pioneer Pub might come out on top eventually. Now that there is some decent places to eat on Main St. it's nice to have somewhere to go out for drinks and maybe some dancing too. The first time we went, a GREAT band called Hiram Street Band was playing. The place was packed with a cool crowd of people (nicely dressed, attractive, fun, 30's - 40's) Dance floor was packed as the music was great. Service isn't bad at the bar. We went back a few weeks later and there wasn't very many people and the DJ really sucked. It's a clean, appealing place (even though it's long and narrow like most places on that side of Main St.) has an upper loft/balcony for pool tables and some seating, very limited seating downstairs because the dancefloor and stage takes most of it. I'll give it one more shot but otherwise I'll just wait until that band plays again. i think most of the people were just fans of the band. read more

I have never ordered food from this establishment. We always go in for a few drinks and head home. I like the space, the decor. We walked in. The young bartender was sitting on her ass on a bar stool behind the bar talking with young guy at the bar(flirting). The only seats at the bar had water glasses (looked like someone was sitting there), bartender told us it's OK they left. As soon as we sat down a lady came up and said she was siting there. Wtf. I ordered rum and coke my lady friend order water. Felt like we didn't matter. Only 6 of us at the bar and 2 people at a table. Bar rescue needs to visit this place. read more

I used to work across the street, and this was my fav place to go hang out and chill from my typical workday stress (btw, I think these poker machines pay out more than typical but I might just be superstitious and delusional). The owner, bouncer, and (extremely attractive and genuinely sweet...really!) bartenders, seem to handle the throngs of OC party peoples in a very efficient and professional manner. Personally, I've never had to wait for more than a couple of minutes for service, even when the place was packed. It does seem to draw the younger crowd (and, there are always 'bad apples' in the bunch, but tere are 'cool apples', too), but it is a breath of fresh air in this ancient (at least in terms of the US western seaboard) city, and worth checking out. Oh yeah, and they know how to mix a good drink, too. hehe. ---they definately deserve my first review...and 4 mutha effin stahs! Carry on, my good folk, and don't forget to check this place out!
