This used to be a pretty fun spot for karaoke with friends. No mas! Last few times we came has just been one bad experience after another. A fight broke out that stopped the whole business for 30-40min and let the instigators stay. If given the chance, it would be 0 stars. Absolutely terrible food, service if horrible and the atmosphere is whatever. Only a few things on the menu. No chips and the pretzel was hard, burnt and had garlic powder which was overpowering. Was here a few years back and it was AWFUL then with a drunk bar tender that threw things at a customer then proceeded to break glasses behind the counter for fun. read more

If you want a bar that feels like your buddy's bar they built in their basement after watching one YouTube video on how to do so, this is the place for you! Or maybe a bar in their garage. Either way, the atmosphere is lackluster, the service is terrible, and after one or two drinks, you may have alcohol poisoning. The regulars use the bar as their own personal space, hosting themed parties that an unsuspecting new customer may find odd or out of place. There's no food, despite advertising a menu online. Though you can ask, and will probably get chewed out for doing so, or be served generic, made from frozen food. And if you're hoping to have a conversation with someone, it's advised not to do so on karaoke nights. Even when there isn't karaoke, it's generally loud, boisterous, and don't be surprised if a fight breaks out. My advice? Find a better bar. Fred and I walked in after a hot day and sat down at a the bar, karaoke was going on and people seemed to be having a good time. Fred and I sat there for 15 min there was no sign of a bar tender or anything. There were several people that came in and ended up leaving because there was no service. When the guy finally appeared, one lady asked him a for a rag for a dirty table and he was so incredibly rude with the rudest scowl on his face. Fred and I looked at eachother and we left. We didn't even want to interact with him. Fred and I have been here before and had a great time but this one was a deal breaker, we will not be returning. read more

Duffy's has been a downtown Milwaukie staple for years. With 21 taps they always have a good selection. The poker room is nice and in a room away from the normal bar sounds. You know that bartender who thinks his shit doesn't stink, washes his truck during his shift when there is a drought going on, and does push-ups in the middle of the bar to impress himself? Well, that's Ian.. I wanted to love this place. I really, REALLY did. It's a brief walk from my place and literally every other staff member there is awesome. But Ian is like a fly on shit; he never goes away. Even when he's not on shift, you can bet you will find him there trying to strut his stuff. It takes a special bartender to not know a customer's drink (it's a basic ipa, pretty straightforward) after a year of patronizing the establishment, let alone not even know which card is mine when there are only two other customers in the bar. It takes a certain kind of special to also give horrible service, knowingly try to overcharge (happy hour is all day on Sunday's, I even had to direct him towards the sign before he believed me), and then blatantly ignore me when a younger female patron comes to the bar. River Roadhouse is just a few blocks further and they will treat you well. They will know your drink, and even know your name after your first visit. And none of the bartenders do push-ups there. read more

I've been here many times, and before it was Duffys. It's outside seating is great during covid. They do have some karaoke in normal times. Beer is good and inexpensive. I have t tried food here. I repeat.... This is not an irish pub. It's a dive bar. It serves deep fried frozen food. I live near this place. It's a total Whisky Tango hangout. During COVID, they didn't really adhere to the rules. Chin diaper masks and all. It's definitly outdated but not in a cool way. The cleintele are something else. During the first year of covid the cops had to come out here at least once a week due to fights breaking out. Management doesn't really do shit to stop it. O God. So I went here by myself and had a beer. One time the bartender let a little old lady with walking issues who was already phsyically exhausted walk 3 full beverages from the bar to outside on her own. That looked sad. One time a person I know comes in and wants to chat, and I don't. I want to make this clear. This person then gets up and adds a beer, an appetizer and a meal to my order. The server brings the food, and the person actually then mentioned they would like it on their own tab, as I wasn't part of this. I quickly leave, only drink like 2 sips out of my beer. So I don't know why the bartender felt it necessary (knowing nothing of the situation between the person and I ) to do this when the CUSTOMER who ordered all this food, and ate it too, said it was his to pay for and wouldn't allow him? Such a little gem in the heart of Milwaukie. The people really make the space and between the KJ and bartenders this place has that in spades! I wanted a more unique song to sing and if he doesn't have it he can pull a YouTube of it for you!! Completely ignored when we came in. A group of about 6 and another couple were all that was there. One bartender. After about 10 minutes we went to find a menu. About half the items were crossed out. Never got an acknowledged from the bartender. Another small group that had come in after us were also completely ignored. They left before us. We saw that same small group at Cha Cha Cha just a few minutes later, and we all enjoyed the friendly service and good food there. read more

Was visiting from Seattle for the weekend, ended up at this place. Awesome family like karaoke atmosphere where everyone is welcomed and encouraged to sing and have a great time. The host is a professional musician himself and really knows the songs of different genre and will sing with you. Food and drinks are great. We happened to be in Sellwood-Moreland and were debating getting burgers at Killer Burger. We had continued driving as we haggled over should we or shouldn't we, when we pulled off on a side street in Milwaukee and hubby said....what about Duffy's? What about it, I said as I realized that we were parked so that we could just see the side of the building. I quickly pulled up their menu, and proclaimed 'they have burgers' and the debate started again. We finally made the decision based on who could benefit the most by our purchase. We were most certainly happy to have made the call. I had the mushroom burger and hubby had the classic. Both were gorgeous. Excellent buns, nice juicy meat and lots of fresh toppings. My fries were fine, but the jo-jo's that hubby got were amazing. And the cheesecake that had been carefully divided for us to share was super good too. The service was fantastic, really quick. The food was HOT! And carefully boxed in paper!!! A huge plus for us. We hate food in styrofoam. Really looking forward to them being in business when this covid-19 mess is controlled. Used to love this place. But this review is based off the night of Friday 8/21. The bartender didn't wear her mask the entire night. Go ahead and check your cameras to confirm. She was also extremely rude to other patrons about having their mask up all the way, while she isn't even wearing one? She also wouldn't let someone buy a round of white claws for the table. She said it was against the law to buy that many. This is my neighborhood bar, but the entire experience with this bartender has made it so Duffy's is no longer on my list of go-to's. A bar is only as good as it's staff. I had a feeling that when all the OG bartenders quit, this place would go downhill. I had high hopes though, as I have had many of great times there. We were suggestive sold on the Irish beef stew. Being an Irish pub, I also ordered a Guiness. The food took quite a while so my guess what that they were making the stew when we arrived and it wasn't quite ready. That was okay since I was meeting up with a very old friend from that neighborhood. More than the slow food service, the only real issue I had was that the place was freezing cold. It was noon so they must have just opened and just put the heat on. I'm not the best person to review this place because we weren't here when they were playing live music or had a crowd. We were just there for lunch and were the first (and only customers) at that time frame. I think this is probably a bar the locals enjoy on the weekends and if you are a local and like Irish music, its probably a good spot to try on a weekend night. read more

I gave this place quite a few tries over a couple of months, and the first few times I was impressed. I'm on a mission to find the best fish and chips (cod, because every damned time I've had halibut fish and chips, it's been dreadfully dry). The first few times the fish and chips were hot... beer batter perfect, and although the fries were crinkle-cut, they were hot and tasty. However, the last time here the fish was awful... perhaps it was the time of day (late morning)? It tasted greasy and the flavor was totally off. I'm sticking with Gaffer's from now on, unless I'm too lazy and want something more convenient. Also, it'd be terrific if their corned beef and cabbage was on the menu full time, instead of just twice a month when they have their live music Friday nights. On the "up" side, their Irish Stew is wonderful... especially on a cold, rainy day. read more

Been coming to this bar for a while now and hands down believe that Bonnie is the best bar tender there. She has memorized my basic ass drinks quickly and always makes sure that I am well watered and tipsy. Also if I am unsure what to drink she is quick with the assist and recommend. The guy that gave this place a 2 star is off the rails. Not all Irish pubs have to be alike just because they are "Irish pubs". They have competitively priced drinks and food (traditional Irish fare and otherwise). The bartenders are good, and the owner Judy is a real gem. P.S. Just moved to Milwaukie from out of state and I honestly gave Duffy's several tries over the past two months, but will not likely go back because of the clientele. The staff are great, the food is standard fare and my standby was always Harp on tap. The Irish Nachos are creative and tasty. Wings are on the small side, but are also very good. If you happen to go during daylight hours, you'll probably have an enjoyable visit. But trying to have a pleasant time after the sun goes down by sitting out on the patio and having relaxed conversation with the other patrons is absolutely impossible. Obnoxious neighborhood drunkards come here in throngs to hang out and then consequently ruin the atmosphere for everyone else. You can't even hear the person next to you because people are constantly yelling at each other three tables away (or better yet on opposite sides of you). If this is your idea of a good time, then this is your place. If not, go before the sun goes down. Three stars just because I can't do less b/c of the staff. They're great. They would be wise to refuse service to the problem people or else their business will suffer. read more
