Rude staff, horrible conditions, and they do not care for the dogs. I showed up to check a dog out for a relative that lives couple hours away, they were so rude throwing there hands up when I asked questions about if she was friendly with kids/cats/dogs. I've volunteered and have been to several animal shelters in the state, this is the worst one i've ever been to. read more

Well, we adopted a 3 month old puppy from here and drove over 4 hours to pick her up. The facility is absolutely deplorable - filthy, looks like a hoarding environment, completely unorganized, and just gross. Our puppy ended up having behavioral issues (super timid, aggressive, afraid of men and most people, a nervous wreck). For months we tried positive puppy training, behavior specialists, advice from our local vets, aromatherapy, a thunder jacket, and help from our local shelter in how to help her but it was all to no avail. We made the absolutely heartbreaking decision to surrender her after 3 months of trying to our amazing local humane society where she could get the training and specialized attention she needed. The woman we adopted her from called and left a threatening and completely inappropriate message accusing my husband of animal abuse and spousal abuse saying that he is completely to blame and, "I'm sure he has slapped you around as well." I was speechless after hearing this message. She also called our vets office and verbally berated them and told them what horrible pet owners we are and my husband is "a complete asshole" as well as an animal abuser. This behavior was completely out of line and what a hateful and completely malicious accusation to make and to call our local vet office and verbally attack them....? It was just so shocking and totally inappropriate. It broke our hearts to surrender her but you do what's best for the animal. She needed behavior assistance that was out of our realm of expertise and the specialists at our humane society were completely behind us and encouraged our decision. We have 2 dogs, both of which we adopted from shelters, and we have never raised a hand to them or hurt them in any manner. We love our pets and treat them as family and I am just speechless that someone would accuse my husband of animal and spousal abuse because our puppy had behavior issues that clearly existed before we adopted her. We did everything we could for her and this did not warrant the level of verbal abuse and harassment that we got from Pat for this decision. So unnecessary and completely out of line. read more

They sacrifice parts of their own life for the animals. Overwhelmed and in need of donations yet they keep going in hopes of finding forever homes. I adopted "Resty" from them about six years ago. He had been abandoned at a rest stop and in need of medical care. They fixed his eyes and other health problems. I owe them for my best friend. Help them!!! read more

Found a dog listed on Petfinder that I was interested in a month ago. I emailed my application and called leaving messages repeatedly requesting to drive across the state to get him, but nobody ever responded. Within a week his status changed to adopted. I was disappointed but understand I wasn't first in line. Weeks later his profile reappears. I emailed and said I had previously been interested and inquired if he was in fact still available. They responded that they'd never received my previous application. I sent a new one and was rejected because they feel he'd be best as an only pet and I have one dog and one cat. He's a puppy and his profile lists him as good with other dogs, cats, and children. They are overly attached to many of their animals and can't let them go. read more

I applied for a puppy, sent my application. Tgey acknowledged they revived it and contacted me by phone when the puppy was available. They didn't have a problem with me being out of state!! The place has since been remodeled and pictures show the improvements are great!! The puppy was well cared for. They were great to work with!! read more

I adopted my rez rescue from Pintler in 2016. The mostly-volunteer staff were extremely judicious in deciding whether to approve me because I lived in an apartment without a fully enclosed yard - it took multiple strong references but I truly respected their reasoned judgement especially considering limited resources and many animals on site! My pup was obviously well cared for in the short time she was there, staff were extremely positive and thorough, and while the facility is not shiny like HOV in my then-hometown of Bozeman, the staff showed great attention to the animals and concern for their adoptive environments. There was a small dog that seemed to fit what I was looking for. I filled out an application and did not hear back. I thought maybe because of the COVID upheaval, they just hadn't had time, so I emailed and called again and asked that they let me know one way or the other if I could come meet the dog. I never heard a response. I have since adopted an awesome little girl from the Missoula Animal Control Shelter and we are both very happy. Also, Lewis and Clark Humane Society is awesome. (They just didn't have the right dog for me at the time I was ready to adopy.) read more

Disrespectful manager. Calls and leaves message denying my apication because of no record from My prevoius vet. Inconsiderate and unlawful proof of deny. Would never recommend adopting from this humane society ever. Terrible attitude. Thinks dogs are people which way overboard considering i love dogs. We have a family of 4 who own our house with many adaptations for dogs. Including dog door high vinyl fence and shade lits of yard to run. This manager clearly doesnt hsve a clue what she is doing. I would like for her to call my 4 year old daughter and tell exactly why she wont let us BUY a puppy who were from browning were they were left for nothing. I have called and sent several emails to this organization. Two weeks ago I filled out an adoption application. I have made phone calls to ask if they received my application or have they reviewed it, but have never received a replay. One faithful volunteer worker, that comes in to feed the dogs a couple times a week, returned my call from her home. She appears to be the only person caring for the pets, for when I did reach them during open hours, there was still not a person there that could give me any basic information about the dog . I live in Kalispell, and had some questions about the dog before I traveled there. How old is the dog, is he good with children and so on. I am starting to wonder what the point of the organization is when they know nothing about the dogs in their care, and do not respond to a person that is very interested in one of the pets. read more
