I found this policy incredibly strange. I have worked in corporate environments for many years, primarily on the business side, and I have never encountered anything quite like this. I even asked who established such a rule because, at the end of the day, legal tender is legal tender. While I understand that businesses may have internal cash-handling policies, this one seemed unnecessarily restrictive, especially for such a small transaction. To make matters worse, before we even began shopping, we witnessed another customer visibly frustrated because the employees were unable to locate her package. Interestingly enough, they eventually found it. Overall, the experience was underwhelming. I don't necessarily fault the employees for following management's instructions, but I do believe this location could benefit from additional training, clearer communication, and a review of its customer service procedures. Shopping at Hallmark should be a pleasant, straightforward experience, not one where customers are left questioning basic transactions and store policies.

I watched different employees provide amazing assistance to the gentlemen in the store who needed a little extra help trying to find gifts for their ladies and daughters in their lives. If you're looking for it, it's probably there. When checking out, the ladies explained the return policy in depth to every customer in line. (They have done this every time I have gone.) Customers should remember that even the seller is at the mercy of the supplier, so if they have to go by a specific brand's policy for returning items or exchanging them, it's not the fault of the small business owner. I listened to them work with a fussy customer, and they were polite and empathetic, and they explained the situation. By the end, while not ideal for immediate gratification, a resolution was in the works. That was great service!
