Everyone knows the secret to a full belly is in the rice. Even if you have a tiny scrap of viand, you'll be full to bursting if you couple it with a mountain of rice. That, I believe, is the secret behind Pinoy Toppings' success. Back in the day, a plate of tapsilog (I think this is the place that birthed my love of tapsilog) used to cost about 75php. Now at 120php, it does me good to see that neither their quality nor their serving sizes have gone down. They still serve the mountain of rice and really good salty-sweet tapa I love them for.
I know what you're thinking. The way I'm phrasing things makes it sound like they serve a giant mound of rice and a tiny scrap of tapa, right? You're only half right. That giant mound of rice isn't just rice. It's a tasty garlic rice that goes perfectly with the tapa. Dare I say it, it's almost as if it was flavored with the tapa itself. It isn't plain white rice at all. It's good on it's own. This is also one of the other places in the food court that cook their food right when you order it so... there's that bit of lag between your order and your getting it again. Worth the wait though for a really filling meal. read more
