Korean restaurants have flocked the nation since a few years ago, and the Filipinos have seemed to adapt and love them. Masil offers authentic Korean cuisine and has a fancier ambiance. Parking is ample, but you could also park on the side street.
Had the chance to dine at Masil via a friend's birthday. We have tried several dishes since we are a big group. We started with numerous servings and variety of their banchan which includes: sweetened peanuts, tofu, pickled raddish, fish cake, boiled potatoes, among others. The best one I like is the salad because of the sweet pineapple dressing. Here are some of the things we tried:
- Mung Bean Pajeon - green beans pancake with vegetables. I like the nutty graininess texture and crunch. It has a mild flavor that is addicting.
- Buldak - spicy chicken dish with vegetables. This dish is extremely spicy and has the power to make other dishes spicier. I remember my Budae Chigae getting spicier after trying the Buldak. I wish they can make a Cheese Buldak to counter the spiciness, because it gets down your throat. Although after the spiciness, it releases some sweetness to the dish.
- Gyeran Jjim - Korean verion of steamed egg, very fluffy and light, great for spicy foods.
- Dolsot Bibimbap - Korean Fried Rice done beautifully and cooked in a stone pot.. One of the best I've tried.
- Budae Chigae - Korean army soup. A spicy noodle (ramen) soup filled with vegetables, sausage, and ham. A favorite of many, this is invented when the Americans left Korea and the latter used everything they have like spam and hotdogs to make a delicious soup.
- Samgyeopsal - thickly sliced pork belly, tasty, sweet, and tender. The pork slices are dipped into the sesame oil then samjang (soybean sauce) then placed on lettuce with some garlic and eaten whole.
For dessert, they served several varieties of Korean ice creams. I like that there is one staff wearing Hanbok, a Korean traditional costume. When we asked about it, the staff said she is the oldest in service, and is like the captain waiter.
A great place to dine with friends. Masil means go out and have fun, and this is exactly what we did. read more
