Rented a mountain home for a weekend. Piñon was easy to work with, house and location were amazing.

I came across this renovated motel that also offered Airstreams as an option for respite. I was excited to visit the motor lodge, and had heard great things from friends who had stayed here in the past. I was pleasantly surprised at how incredibly well-kept and clean the place was, and how inviting the staff was. I stayed in the Pee Wee Airstream, and it was clean, spacious for one person, and so comfortable. I felt completely safe and cozy, and despite their being a shared bathroom for all of the Airstreams, it was never inconvenient during my stay. I didn't have my dog for this trip, but am hoping to make another trip down there with her and would love to stay here again!

It was the exact right vibes to celebrate my birthday. All of the details are so thoughtful. The rooms are clean and include a good size 'retro' mini fridge. The A/C kicks for a good, cold sleep. The beds are comfy and pillows are nice. It was a very quiet stay. I really don't have one bad thing to say about this spot. I really can't wait to come back again soon for another delightful stay! :)

The place was so clean, I half expected a cleaning fairy to waltz in and curtsy. The furniture and beds? Comfier than a post-Thanksgiving nap. Pillows? Fluffier than a baby alpaca. And those clear plastic boxes for extra bedding? Pure organizational wizardry. Marie Kondo would weep. Cozy blankets made me consider quitting my job and becoming a professional blanket burrito. Pet friendly too--complete with poop bags and couch covers so my dog could live her best life and I didn't have to wrestle her off the sofa like a WWE match. The smoking station on the back porch? Genius. Keeps butts out of nature while still letting smokers feel fancy. The kitchen? Huge table, solid chairs, and a crockpot that made me feel like I'd been transported to a cooking show. Quality pots and pans for days, but only four coffee mugs. FOUR. For a whole chalet. Are we hosting an exclusive espresso club? And one dish towel? My sponge practically filed a complaint. Here's the kicker: it snowed overnight the first night, and by the time we came back from skiing, the walkway was shoveled and the hot tub lid was cleared off like some magical snow-removal ninja had swung by. Honestly, it felt like Santa was moonlighting as chalet maintenance. We did lose heat the first night for a few hours, which gave us an unexpected "polar survival" experience, but those thick duvets were life-savers. Overall, 10/10. Already plotting how to make this my permanent address.

There is also a long counter area with a sink, microwave, and small refrigerator. The proprietors supplied the room with a portable burners, if you wish to cook. Since there weren't restaurants in the area, we stopped at Whole Foods in Denver and stocked up on food for the weekend. After a long day of hiking, this was a great place to relax and unwind. Oh yes, there was also wireless internet for those who must stay connected. Liz was a great host to us. She offered to loan us winter gear for our trek, and she had homemade peanut butter cookies waiting for us upon our return. We stayed two nights- early the morning of our attempt at Mt Elbert, she made a robust breakfast of eggs, bacon, and toast. The next morning was more relaxed, and she met us with pancakes and sausage. Delicious. The view was wonderful as well- on the patio, there are plenty of chairs to lounge around an outdoor fireplace, and there is a jacuzzi. All this overlooks Twin Lakes and the majestic mountains in the background. Next time, I hope to indulge in the outdoor amenities!

Liz has cooked great us many great breakfasts and we've shared awesome conversations about all things in life - kids, life, teaching and the Leadville 100 MTB race. Since they live along the Leadville MTB race route and usually have racers staying with them, for the race they go out to cheer on and support the racers. They have a beautiful home, which I wish I could actually buy since they're selling it to move on to their next chapter in life. However, until they sell it appears they will either rent the entire house or just the B&B portion. Don't hesitate to contact James or Liz to spend the night or even 10 days with them... You won't regret it! We really hope to can stay at A Wolf Den for the 2015 Leadville race. Not only have Liz & James been great inn keepers, they have become friends whom we'll keep in touch with for years to come.

I called down to the front desk, and the person there was obviously unsettled by that. She offered to tell housekeeping, but never offered an apology. The next day we left out the sign on the room door asking for "stay over service". We arrived back to find the room had not been refreshed. I called down and the person once again offered to tell housekeeping. I'm sorry, but if you call yourself a "resort" and charge nearly $300 per night, you darn well better provide exceptional service! Spend your dollars elsewhere and enjoy the hot springs at another location. We'll be checking out in the morning, and never check back in again! Can I rate zero stars?!?
