Very disappointed with my experience at this dealership's service department. I dropped off my van on Tuesday and was never told there was a 2-3 day backlog before they would even begin looking at new drop-offs. After not receiving any updates, I had to stop in on Thursday because no one returned my calls. At that point I was told my van was supposedly second on the list to be worked on Friday, yet I still received no call or update. I ended up stopping by again because getting anyone to return a phone call seems nearly impossible, and they're closed weekends. Poor communication has been the biggest issue. I understand they recently bought out the previous dealership and may be going through changes, but customers should still be kept informed. Saying the phones aren't working isn't an acceptable excuse when calls are apparently being answered and messages are being taken. A simple update would have gone a long way. This has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've had, and based on this experience I would not return. read more

We had an appointment for a state inspection on June 23, 2026 @ 930am. The truck was not ready until 11:30am. It took two hours for a state inspection. This time frame is not acceptable. We were not pleased at all with the slow service. The receptionist at the service desk however showed excellent customer service. read more

Service and honesty. They are only about racking up your bill. Not what needs to be done. They added work to my estimate that wasn't asked for. Mainly based on the year and mileage. They didn't bother to ask me if I wanted it done or if it had been done. read more

I got a quote for $1500 to fix my Impala. Two items., change my anti- freeze and clean my fuel injectors was not asked of them. Both had been done recently. The other was for a new intake manifold. They said that there was a leak that was sucking air. I took it to a different shop and they fixed it for $200. That included a state inspection, new outside air temp. sensor, (which worked before I took it to Pinkerton). And some sealant that they put on a bolt that had been incorrectly put into my manifold. In my opinion the mechanic that worked on my car is one of three things A crook, a bad mechanic, or both.. read more

I have purchase quite a few cars over my lifetime, aka retired senior. I went with my son to look at trucks. I was quite pleased with the low pressure, helpful sales person, Jason. Very knowledgeable and attentive. Inventory was very good, prices as low as we had seen anywhere. My son was very pleased with his trade-in value. The whole process was fast and easy. I went and looked at a 22 Yukon on 03/02 in the morning and test drove it. I returned to the dealer that evening and signed the paperwork to purchased the vehicle. It was raining and they told me once the weather clears I would get a complimentary detail inside and out. They also had only one key to the vehicle and they couldn't find the second one but would work on finding it. I drove it to the grocery store and home. The next morning 03/03 I went out to start the vehicle and it had a check engine light illuminated on the dash. I took it straight back to the dealership for diagnosis and dropped it off. I was told they would detail it while it was there. Not once did they call and give me an update all day long. I drove up there for an update after being on hold for 15 mins. They told me they wanted to keep it overnight and check more in the morning. The next morning 03/04 I still had not heard any update. I was told they couldn't find anything wrong with the car and I could pick it up. They still were not able to find the second key. Upon getting into the vehicle I found a spilled can of dip or snuff all over the console/cupholders, and mud all over the carpet floor mats from one of the technicians. I went back inside and told them about the interior of the car. I was told there was nothing they could do about it and that was my problem not theirs. I asked to speak to a manager or an owner and was told no it doesn't work like that. I have owned this vehicle for not even 72 hours had multiple issues, no second key, and the inside of my vehicle trashed! This is not the type of service you want! I will never go back! read more

Terrible sense of urgency, dropped truck off at 10:30 for simple transmission flush and was told it was a 2 hour job. Came back 3 hours later, hasn't moved. Uber home and call 2 hours later, still not in the shop. read more

Hands down the worst auto repair ever experienced on any vehicle in over 50 years. We told them what we thought the problem might be when we brought it in but they ignored our diesel truck saying their diesel mechanics couldn't look at it for awhile. Each week when we called they assured us they'd look at it the next Tues or Wed and call with results. This went on for 5 weeks! Finally, in week 6 they looked at it and learned the problem was exactly what we'd said when we brought it in, that the repair could be done by a regular mechanic in 2 hours, and that we could pick it up once they called. We went to pick it up after they called and after we said we would be out that afternoon, and they had decided to close service early, once again failing to call. We finally located someone who could re-open the shop and check us out so we could have our truck after this 6 week ordeal. Will never buy a car, have a repair, or refer a friend to Pinkerton Chevrolet. read more

Be aware, Pinkerton Chevrolet (Salem) will sell a used vehicle that has been wrecked and not properly repaired. It is my mistake, I own it, but want to make others aware so they do not make the same mistake. I did not read the paperwork carefully when completing the deal and signed a document that noted that vehicle had been wrecked. I trusted their sales person and sales manager, asking them several times during the search if vehicles being considered had been wrecked. They laughed, saying they would not consider one that had been wrecked. The sales manager said it would "look like new" when we picked it up, which was not the case. Upon delivery, while the salesperson was showing my wife the features of the vehicle, I walked around the vehicle, and noticed the gap between the hatch was wider on the right side than on the left. I brought it to the attention of the salesperson, who could not explain the difference. He later had one of their "body repair guys" look at it and said "if anything it had been bumped." Why didn't he refer me to the sales documents then? We felt obligated to accept delivery since it had been shipped from out of state, and did. My mistake, we should have never accepted delivery. I later learned, from another dealer, that the vehicle actually had been wrecked. We contacted Pinkerton. Both the sales manager and the salesperson no longer work there. The new sales manager then referred to the document that showed it had been wrecked. He said that having been wrecked would not decrease the trade value. Another dealer said it would decrease it by $2,500.00, since it was not properly repaired. Again, read all your documents carefully, trust no one. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way. read more

Pinkerton customer service sucks. On Friday, June 28th, I drove over to Pinkerton to go and look at a truck that had been on the website saying "in stock" for a week. So, I got pre-approved and talked to a salesman named Mario. Mario told me the bad news, which was that the truck was not there and that he didn't know when it would get there. Well, his supervisor, Joel, got involved as well. He said he didn't know when it would get there either, and that it was supposed to be there two weeks ago from when I got to the dealership. Mario and Joel had assured me that they would put it on a hot load and get it there the following next week. Mario had even talked me into putting down a $500 deposit so that I could say it's mine and that no one else will take it. Mario told me he would contact me the following Monday with an update. Well, Monday, July 1st comes up. I had expected to hear something by the end of the day, but I did not. So, I called Mario, and he said that it wouldn't be there until by the end of the month. What?! Well, I had asked Mario if he had put it on a hot load like he said and he said that he would do it... Even though he AND Joel told me it would be on a hot load, which should have happened by the time I called Mario. I asked Mario if it would be there that week and his words were "I'm going to try". A week and a half goes by and I have heard nothing. I got fed up and started contacting other dealerships. I had a quote on a '22 Dodge ram power wagon that was in great condition. So, I told Mario about the Dodge from the other dealer. Figured I might see if I can get a better deal to keep my money or to get a different brand new truck, one of the '23 Chevrolet Silverado RST's they had. Mario told me he wasn't at the office. So, I come by the next day for a surprise visit to get my money back. Mario talked me into staying with the Colorado instead of getting my money back. When I mentioned the Silverado's, he told me "Aw, those are $70-80,000, you aren't interested in them". I know I'm not a salesman, but I am pretty sure it is not a salesman's place to tell me what I can and can not afford. The next day, Mario called me and said that he called GM and told them about the car being sold and to make it a hot load... Wait, what?! He still had not made it a hot load after telling g me TWICE already that he did?! That's correct. But apparently he did this time... A week passes by, and I hear nothing. I'm checking the website daily to see if the truck is even listed still, and it was, even said "in stock" the whole time. I even drove by the dealership every day after work to see if the truck was there or not, because by that point, I didn't trust Mario or Joel to tell me anything. The following week, Monday, July 22nd I texted Mario at 5:51 PM and asked if there was any update. Mario replied "Hey Grayson I will have a better update in the morning". Well, the following morning, I heard nothing. So, I texted Mario again at 4:05 PM and asked if he had an update since I didn't hear from him this morning. Mario replied "Hey Grayson nothing yet on the Colorado Hopefully soon .I haven't forgot you.I check everyday". So, I guess Mario was pulling my leg and didn't have a "better update". So, I texted him back and said "Ok... I thought I would have received a 'better update' this morning." And then Mario proceeded to call me. I sent it to voicemail. He left a message stating that he had another Colorado ZR2 coming in next month on the 1st. So, I figured I'd call back and humor him. He looked it up while I was on the phone with him and he said "Oh, it's a z71. Not a ZR2." I was angry. I did not get hateful and I did not get rude. But I asked for my money back and I did. I had to go back and get refunded at the dealership. Mario didn't talk to me and didn't stay for me to finish my refund either. I feel violated and taken advantage of. Had an especially poor visit today. Brought our car in to fix a tire that kept leaking air. Was informed that we had a nail that couldn't be patched. They also said our alignment was pretty bad and they suggested replacing all tires and to get an alignment due to the wear and current condition of the tires. We arrived there around 10am. They told us at 10:45 we needed the new tires and the alignment. I was there waiting with 3 of my boys (ages 7,8 and 11 month old still in a car seat). I said to go ahead with the alignment... at Noon I asked what was taking so long, their reply was "normally people take their lunch at 11:30, they are replacing the tires now and then they'll do the alignment. I've put a couple people on it to get you guys out of here". At 12:30 an employee who has see us commented that "we should be done soon" at 1 pm I ask AGAIN what's taking so long... to which I'm told "it's up on the rack alignment shouldn't take long". At 1:10 I was finally told they could have it down in 5-10 minutes! Sheesh 2.5 hours for an alignment when it was obviously I had children! Glad the technician was able to take a break and get lunch while me and my boys had to wait! Would have been nice to be told "this visit is going to take 3 hours, are you still wanting to proceed? I went in assuming maybe an hour for a tire patch. Miserable experience and nothing but "your children behaved so well, sorry about the wait". read more

It would be greater if their salesman knew what they were talking about. Drove 50 minutes to their dealership to order a truck that I was told on the phone that they have one in the showroom and they are able to order them. I got there and the salesman "Morio" didn't know the model that they had was a 2022 instead of 2023 and he didn't know that they couldn't order one after telling me that they could. read more

I went in with my car because it was sputtering and jerking when I accellerated quickly. Pinkerton told me it was a battery and a negative cable. I don't believe it was the battery but it was probably the cable. My car had been jerking for a long time but never failed to start. And it ran fine with no problems at all if I accellerated moderately. It cost almost $500 for them to diagnose and replace these two items. As soon as I got the car, I heard a noise, I have driven the car for 10 years so I am familiar with it's sounds. They refused to even look at it to see if maybe they left something loose. A man came out and told me they did nothing to my car and if I wanted them to look to see what was wrong, I would have to pay the $165 hourly diagnostic fee. I was very angry and refused his offer. I took my car to Apperson Automotive and they said the spark plugs were loose and charged me $110 to diagnose and tighten the plugs. I feel like Pinkerton somehow during the testing and diagnosing loosened the plugs,probably to see if the plugs were bad but anyway, since it was as soon as I got the car back they could have at least checked for what was making the noise. They really acted like I was making it up that it just started and wanted them to go over my car for free. read more

We have bought several cars from them in the past . we Purchased a vehicle from them last year it's been in the shop several times already they have had to fix body work where they had to repaint due to leaving bubbles . it's currently having Motor issues . I had an appointment to have my Takata airback in my Chevy Silverado replaced under recall. I left the vehicle as instructed before the opening hour. The drop box had no envelopes for the keys, but fortunately I brought my own. I wrote my name, cell number, vehicle model, and reason for the appointment on the envelope. I left expecting a call when this simple job was complete. By 2pm, I had heard nothing so I called the service department. No answer. I left a detailed message and headed for another appointment. By 3:30, I still had received no call, so I headed to the dealership. Upon entering the service department, I waited on a conversation between two employees with no acknowledgement of my presence. After this conversation was over, the person behind the desk asked if he could help. I informed them that my truck obviously had not been worked on or moved from where I left it at 7am. The gentlemen looked at his computer and acknowledged that I had an appointment and asked if I dropped of the keys. He then looked in the drop box for the first time of the day and there sat my keys. At this point, it was too late for me and my planning around the 30 minute trip to get this done was in vain. Use this information as you see fit. read more

Beware of the service cost at Pinkerton Chevrolet. Was so mad I didn't get the service managers name. Beware of Mikes estimates, could be $200 dollars more then what he tells you. Charged about $700 dollars to replace 1 AC hose. $105 hour labor. Then turn around and laughs in your face. I give them a minus 5 star rating. BEWARE!!! Incompetence or dishonesty. I don't know, and frankly don't care. I took my car in on two separate occasions, and was dissatisfied BOTH times. The work was not done satisfactorily, and the time for repair took twice what was originally stated, (an extra day in both cases). This dealership once enjoyed a good reputation, but I don't think that's the case anymore. I recommended this dealer to my Daughter for an issue she had on her car. I went with her when her appointment was scheduled to make sure it was done under warranty...she is young and I wanted to make sure she was not taken advantage of. I had done the research on the problem with her car so I knew it was covered under warranty and when it was repaired it most definitely was covered under the warranty. Mike Adams, in the service department, and Mike Wood, in the parts department were both amazing! Since my Husband and I had a 2000 Chevrolet and the air conditioner had gone out I decided to go ahead and order the parts to repair it since I was already there with my Daughter. We live almost 100 miles from this location. I returned a week later, picked up the parts for our truck and looked around on the lot for a new car. I had a KIA I had bought less than 3 years earlier from a different dealer and never did like the car. The salesman at Pinkerton was not pressuring and showed me what I was looking for. Since my Daughter had a Cruze I really liked her car and wanted one for myself. I love my new car! I highly recommend Pinkerton Chevrolet for sales, parts and service. Even though I live many miles away from Pinkerton I plan on returning to Pinkerton for all the service for my new car. I highly recommend anyone looking for a full service dealer to take a look at PInkerton for their outstanding sales and service! read more

4pm Friday before Easter w a vacation loaded car w boats, bikes, dog, and teenager blew transmission 4 hrs from home. Blessed to be so lucky that breakdown occurred near Pinkerton. The team at Pinkerton bent over backwards to help me and my family. Got the car evaluated and plan to fix. Provided us w a loaner car right then and there. I lost track of the number of folks who checked on us from all parts of the facility - service, sales, you-name-it. We live near D.C. I am seriously considering that the 4 hr drive to Salem is worth it for my next car purchase. Best customer service I've ever had. Thank you to everyone at Pinkerton. Huh..That's odd..Mike Adams quoated me a 4-6 hour job on my truck back in July of 2016- instead, they kept my truck for a month.and on top of that I had to locate the part they supposedly couldn't find because it's not MFG.anymore.i found it in 15 minutes in another parts yard in Idaho..We will see if it really needed a bezel Mike Adams..Because I had that inspected by state farm before you ever worked on it and they said it was fine.I have the inspection estimate and there wasn't anything wrong with the bezel...Plus for some odd reason my steering now after I got it back is way loose instead of the tight steering I had before I brought it in.its obvious someone turned the adjustment screw on the steering gear box while I had it their shop..I've been doing a business with Pinkerton since 2009.So I guess Mike Adams and company doesn't give a a damn about loyalty I.You think I you know so much Mike, huh, I know more.And I'm going to prove it.I just rebuilt that front end 5 years ago and barely put 350 miles a month in it so it should steer the same way it did before I brought it in...And they scratched my driver's side door and they never ran my truck through the car wash..It's obvious the staff at Pinkerton doesn't want my damn business..Mike Adams tried to talk down to me and well that just didn't work..Then March 2017 just last week the window on the passenger side of my vehicle shorted out for a full day..Then when I took it in which is still under warranty they supposedly checked it all out and couldn't find anything wrong..Yeah right..It was obvious by the way Mike Adams and the mechanic communicated in front of me they weren't really going to do a damn thing about it..The mechanic was an asshole Mike Adams was an asshole and this time when I got it back a full 30 minutes later.which anyone who's a mechanic and I am since 1973 can tell you it takes longer than that to check out both Windows'' my passenger side door has a huge scratch on it..These guys let me know they play games with certain customers this was a hit job that started with another dealership called Haley Toyota who absolutely screwed me over. Then Pinkerton found out about my screw job with Haley Toyota and it's obvious Pinkerton I called them and decided after talking g to Haley Toyota they would give me the royal treatment.These guys were paid big big bucks to fix my windows instead of showing appreciation for the $1500 hi dollars I spent on it they spit in my face..Know this pinkerton' it didn't go un-noticed..bank on that..If you walk in with a skirt on they trip over their self to impress ..Walk in a honorable hard working man and they split all over you..If you have any self respect you'll take your vehicle to people who care..I have a appointment with another dealership out of town to inspect what Pinkerton repaired..I'm going to bet big money in the Vegas sports books that they didn't do jack shit on the repairs..We'll see after my appointment next month.. read more

I cannot rate this dealership because the service we got was not worth rating,I work for a Fleet company and we have had a 2012 chevy in there off and on for 2 months between gm and our company we have paid out over 15000.00 in repairs Pinkerton chevy is the worst dealership we have ever had to deal with,we have been lied to several times we have been told the truck was done twice by Ramsey anthe first time it lasted 3 days and we picked up it again yesterday and it was towed back in this morning so i hope if you take your truck or car there i hope you get treated better than we did. read more

Requested service completed efficiently and correctly as always included my check in request to check tire inflation and bring to correct levels. Mike Bowers is an excellent replacement for the previous service manager. I had an opportunity to speak with one of the sales associates Carla who I commend for being friendly, engaging and willing to continue the conversation and showing me features of a couple vehicles despite my stated intention of not buying toady but in the future. Pinkerton employees all seem to value their customers. Encountered one minor issue with payment for the service performed: minor hitch with machine running credit card charged my card twice ; accounting called next business having picked p the glitch and assured me of the reversal of the duplicate charge (now awaiting the credit to appear on my account). I continue to be extremely pleased with my interactions with people at this dealership; it maintains an excellent business model for Chevrolet dealers to emulate. Great people, product,service, clean comfortable customer waiting spaces; would that all dealerships be like this one. read more
