Buy the deal packages if anything. Yes it's convenient but now that I'm at a different studio, I know the drive is worth it. Inconsistent quality of instruction, shoddy equipment that has caused injuries, shady downtime and schedules where you lose at least a month of membership throughout the course of a year (summer maintenance shutdown, series cancellations with no level equal backfill classes, etc) and deeply disappointing and disrespectful leadership who focuses on income sprints vs loyal membership and good communication. A business coach should know the cost of client acquisition is at least 6x higher than the cost of retention; teaching hundreds of thousands of students isn't a flex in boutique fitness unless you have a large, multi-location business. I've heard other horror stories I won't express here. As a client, you won't initially feel it, but as you go on you'll notice that you're treated as ignorant and as if you don't understand business and what clients want.

The community is great with the other students as well. They're super supportive, and encouraging. Class wise: - if you get an opportunity to take SLAP with Ava, absolutely do it! Don't walk, run!! She is soo sweet and each class is like an adventure where we get to try new things and build off of previous things we've learned in class as well! It's never boring, and her music is on point! Also, the chair work, floor work, and gloves are chef's kiss! It was a challenge for me to really lean into my feminine energy, and she made it possible for me to do that! I adore her soo much, and I appreciate how comfortable she's made me feel. - if you see any spin classes with Jennifer that are open, run to register as well! She is extremely supportive, and I've been raving about her class and teaching style since I got in with her. She also focuses on some great stretches and body warm ups at the beginning of class to ensure that you're good and ready. - if you don't know of Red yet, you will! Run to her classes as well! I've been in her Bae'B Stripper series, and whew this class almost gave me a run for my money, but I look forward to every Monday with her and the girls! She's an amazing teacher, and I appreciate the energy she brings! She's gone put you to work, but you're gonna feel amazing after/during, and for sure sleep well lmao! And don't forget about her splits classes! I still have to attend more of those, but for the class that I did attend, those stretches were great!

The employee/manager/owner whoever it was could have definitely done better. I understand rules but also a little grace goes a long way. For those that like the long version: Pole dancing is something I find very beautiful but have not had the guts to try until now. Today I visited Vertical Joe's for the first time. I did a fair amount of research before making the decision to check this place out. The hope was to make this place a home where I could find more empowerment. I attempted to register for a mega pass online. I was unable to so instead registered for the 6 p.m. class that I intended to attend anyway. Fast forward to me being pulled out of class because there was no payment on file. I hadn't made a payment, my intention was to pay cash for the mega pass before class. My friend and I arrived late because we came here straight from work. We were allowed in without my registration being verified I guess?  A mistake was made by staff and I was allowed to go into the class. I was told I shouldn't have gone to class without paying. Ok. This is a mistake on the end of the establishment. I misunderstood the site. I thought we could pay cash because it was on option in the checkout window. Payments are only made online. Ok. But to get pulled out of the class for a 10 dollar payment is excessive.

I'm sure the fitness-conscious have been aware of the non-traditional work-out industry for a while…read morenow--the aim is to get people into an activity rather than simple weightlifting or working on machines. Yoga, tai chi, rock climbing--all of these activities involve a certain body awareness and require a basic level of core strength and fitness, and they're usually fun enough so you're never really thinking about sets and reps and muscle groups. Last night, I encountered one the toughest but most-enjoyable workouts when I went to the Circus Arts Institute. Located in a loft complex near Dekalb Ave, I joined a number of students (I was one amongst four beginner students, in particular) for a 90-minute session consisting of a pretty strenuous warm-up and cool-down as well as activities including tightrope walking, rope climbing, and trapeze. I would find myself both wired and tired after the session, the excitement and fun of what we did clashing with the unexpected amount of exertion required. Everyone here is all smiles and encouraging, eager to see you succeed in anything that you might try.

I'd been thinking about taking aerial lessons for three or four years, maybe longer - since before…read moreI got into burlesque. So, yeah, the circus classes aren't necessarily related to my tassel and glitter endeavors. (Maybe it was sparked by Yvette calling me Cirque de Sadie and suggesting it should be my stage name.) Whatever. Every few months, we'd be at an event and there'd be girls up on a trapeze or in the, um, circle-thing. "Freakin' amazing!" I would say to myself. "I can totally do that." I looked into it, and bookmarked the Circus Arts Institute web site. Then another year passed, until a few of us were talking about pole dance classes. I'd like to give that a try, too, but first I had to put up and give the trapeze a go. I enrolled in May for a 12-week session. Carrie Heller, who runs - and lives in - the Institute, is really fascinating. She encourages everyone to do cardio outside of class; she talks about diet and nutrition; she has a degree in physiology, I think, as well. In the first class, I climbed the Spanish Web (the rope), got up on the trapeze, and attempted walking the tight wire and juggling. Not so good with the juggling. Next class, I tried rings and loved it... got totally hooked. For my birthday this year, Bryant got our friends to contribute to a gift certificate for a second session. Some of them came to the last night of the first session, which was a sort of show-off day. I did a rings routine; nothing too hard, but it certainly demonstrated what I had learned over the first couple of months. Now, my second session is halfway complete. I'm going to have to re-allocate some funding to continue with it. Circus/aerial training is the crack - highly recommended crack.

TwirlnShape is a hidden gem--and it has completely changed how I see myself. Seriously…read more I came in with zero dance background, just curiosity and a deep need to reconnect with my body. Since starting in March, my strength and flexibility have transformed. I can do things now I never thought were possible--moves that felt impossible in class three are part of my warm-up. My posture is stronger, my core is engaged, and I walk through life a little taller. Literally and emotionally. But the magic here isn't just physical--it's in the people. Black Garnet (Tash) and Kitty are absolutely amazing. All of the teachers are real, grounded, funny, and warm. They meet you exactly where you are. There's no pressure to perform or look a certain way--just encouragement to move, to try, to reclaim something for yourself. Yes, it's sometimes hard, but that's okay! The space itself is gorgeous: mirrored walls and soft lighting that are perfect for dance but still feel intimate--not exposed. You feel seen without being put on display. And the pricing? Phenomenal. Your first five classes are just $90--that's not a huge investment, and it's only a few hours of your time to start shifting how you feel in your body. If you're even slightly curious, it's so worth it. TwirlnShape isn't just a dance studio. It's a sanctuary. It's where misfits, moms, and anyone craving movement without judgment go to remember who they are. Take the class. You don't have to be ready. Just show up. You'll leave feeling more like yourself than when you walked in.

There are sexy chair or floor classes, Lyra, relaxing stretch classes, yoga with silks, and beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes in pole. There's absolutely something for everyone to try or master. Explore pole fitness and surprise yourself. Some tips for first timers: - **Don't wear lotion or oils for at least 6 hours before.** (You don't want to be slipping all over the place. I honestly try not to use any all day if I can.) -**No jewelry. Rings, watches or bracelets.** (It scratches up the metal pole and damages it. Plus you don't want to be fiddling with clasps when every one is waiting on you to start OR starting without you. ) - **Skin is in!** It's a good idea to wear short shorts and tank tops under your outside clothes or LESS. (More skin exposure helps with pole contact points.) - **Arrive on time for class or at least 5 minutes early.** (You want to be able to pick your pole. It's important to warm up with your instructor. Plus, you don't want to have to play catch up.) - **Bring a friend.** (It's so much fun I just have to share it. We laugh, get sexy, look great, and learn something new together.) - **Give yourself some grace.** (Pole has so many levels. If you don't get a move the first time, try, try again. I know it sounds like BS, but it's a pole you're doing tricks on. It's not as easy as it looks, but BABY, the muscle you build afterwards is so nice. Plus, at the end of the day, it's always going to be based on what you put into it as well.) - **Bring socks, make sure your phone is charged, and bring water!** (Socks are NEEDED! Your feet will thank you. Some folks graduate or invest in pleasers after they fall in love with pole. Phone charged cause you will learn a routine and want to record it and see your growth. Hydration is obvious. IJS. ) - **Check the studio's website for promotions, especially for new folks.** (I did a holiday package back in 2022 and now I can't stop won't stop.) - **Don't worry about what someone else is doing in your class.** (Pole is about YOUR journey. Of course, you want to keep up, but you don't know someone else's journey. Some folks walk in and will do a trick on their first try that you've been trying to do for months. It is what it is, and we have different strengths in different places. Have fun and if you want to master a trick/move, keep at it.)

I don't want anyone else to get taken advantage of.. So here goes. Long story short Me and 7 of my friends were in ATL for my friends Bachelorette weekend for this past Labor Day weekend..I started off working with Ro, who was very nice and what seemed to be accommodating at the time. I booked a private pole dancing party for 8..The party totaled $300 in which I put a $75 deposit down..Everything ran smoothly until the day of the event..3 hours before I got an EMAIL (not a phone call) stating that they were moving into a new studio and the poles aren't ready. We were offered a lap dance private party with a $50 discount..After letting my friend (the bride) know this info, she was no longer interested. What the bride wants, the bride gets!I sent a nice respectful but professional email to Ro stating that I realize the deposit said non refundable however the company has breeched their end of the contract, so I would like my deposit back.. Supposedly she spoke to management and said that was no problem. That was the 3rd of September. I sent a follow up email on the 12th asking about my refund..No response.. I live in Chicago so going up there is not an option.. But honey if I don't get my money soon and very soon I will figure out a way. I thought that this just may have been an honest one time mistake but read the other reviews and you will also smell something fishy. I wouldn't book with them..
