Picking up my daughter with my youngest has become one of our favorite things to do everyday because we feel so welcomed and the environment is always bustling with activities and laughter. The staff is incredible. They've always taken such great care of my daughter even during her toughest moments, she was never scolded or punished, they've always taken a kind and gentle approach which I really appreciate and helped my daughter work through some tough times. They're also getting a flood of new five star reviews to bury mine, which just speaks to their transparency and honesty (or lack thereof). Before deciding to enroll here, please visit the CDSS website and search for their facility no. 198021594. My son was pinched and bruised and there was a CDSS investigation on the matter (SUBSTANTIATED, see CDSS website). In addition, they're doing a nice facelift of the outside of the facility while their roofs are leaking and they had buckets in my child's classroom to catch the water. Maybe a mold inspection is in their future. CDSS also substantiated that claim. My son came home with all manner of bug bites from this school. They advertise cameras in the facility to make you feel safe, but in reality the Director "doesn't know how to use the cameras" and later flat out refused to provide footage unless legally required. Then the owner promised to provide footage and still hasn't. Please do your research before enrolling your child, there is no shortage of preschools in the area. THIS IS MY SECOND TIME WRITING THIS REVIEW SINCE THE FIRST WAS REMOVED.

Being an educator myself, this review is based on my professional and personal opinion; as well as…read moremy experience and observations at Grandview house preschool. Based on my observations in person and via the school cameras that parents have access to, this is not a developmentally appropriate environment. This is a developmentally restrictive environment. Children are subject to sit in one spot and entertain themselves with one small item that is given to them by a staff member that fits in their hand without any teacher interaction. Children's hands are not being washed before meal times or sanitized. In some cases, perhaps only being sanitized instead of using soap and water while soap and water and sinks are readily available and accessible, subjecting children to harmful chemicals. Meal times are served without having water or milk present on the tables, or any napkins or utensils available on the table for children. Children's are not offered or allowed to have water or milk while they eat because as I was told by a teacher there they don't want children to fill up on water and milk and not eat, however you cannot withhold water from children. That is a violation. harmful cleaning chemicals are used to sanitize classrooms and children are then brought inside the classrooms, being exposed to the damaging lingering orders. Teacher engagement and interaction is very limited, during meal times or free play teachers do not engage with children instead they chat with one another. These were just a few of the things that I observed on site and via the school cameras.

I assumed at first this was just the result of more socialization, but the more time I spent with the teachers on this small campus, I realized it was the result of their curriculum, compassion, and genuine interest in each child's success. My wife and I found ourselves shocked when our once shy wallflower took front stage of a school recital and pantomimed a song and dance we never once rehearsed at home, unbeknownst to us but no less welcome. We had every opportunity to involve ourselves in the day-to-day of the class without any news or emails feeling overbearing. Pick Up and Drop Off was always pleasant, and the fellow parents we met felt like community. I say without hyperbole that I will truly miss Flintridge Montessori, and recommend it to any parent and child without reservation.
