As a new homeowner one of our concerns was a clearly visible dead tree, which was over 30 feet tall and leaning against another tree nearby. My new neighbors dubbed this the widow maker and refused to walk or park their cars nearby for fear of it falling. After calling Almstead we made an appointment for arborist Matt to come out and render an opinion. He was kind enough to walk our entire property (approximately half an acre) and render an opinion on all of our trees, pointing out several other dead trees and those that could benefit from pruning. He was patient to answer our questions and concerns, and even spoke to some neighbors the same day regarding their trees. After receiving a quote the same day, Matt was flexible to prioritize those items that we were ready to move forward with and did not push us to pay for those items that we didn't want to do. Several weeks later Matt and the team (Antonio, Javier, Luis) came back to take down two trees and trim two others. It was clear that safety was a top priority of theirs, and they took the time to clean up the yard before leaving. Several months later, a very large limb fell off one of those trees that was pruned, so we called Matt back out to take a closer look. He reinspected the tree, identified what seemed to be the culprit, and assured us that the tree is safe. He even took the time to take a closer look at spots on my lawn where I suspected a fungus was developing, identifying the problem as chinch bugs (never heard of them before). All-in-all, I would highly recommend Matt and the team out of the Hawthorne office. They're down to earth, will address your concerns, and won't try to steal your money with needless projects. It was about two years of disappointing lawns and finally I let him go. So last year I started using them and they do excellent work. They always show up on the day they promise the work is excellent. But early spring this year I was also a little unhappy with sav-a-lawn so I gave them the fertilizer and seeding as well as landscape and Maintenace. Well I have to say they really impressed me. I should have switched sooner. Lawn is so green. No patches or weeds. They also do a great job with the blowing weed whacking. Very happy. My wife and I were taking today how great the lawn looks. Best lawn we've had since 2009.

E-mails and phone calls back and forth with CTM for over a month for one large job and one smaller…read morejob. The smaller job - Spring clean up was wonderful. They did not show up on the scheduled day as agreed but nevertheless the yard was the cleanest I've ever seen it given the other landscaping companies I've used over the years. The second, larger job was to install drainage pipes to address an ongoing water and flooding issues. After a total of three visits, I received an explanation of exactly what would be done and the cost (which was higher than verbally stated on one of the previous visits). For the amount of work that had to be done, I believed the price was fair. I asked for a written estimate which I still have not received either with the original quote or amended amount. Having been a homeowner for 30+ years I am aware of all the various terms and how vendors like to be paid. After agreeing to the price and a start date - no one from the company came on that date or called to reschedule. I will now look for a more reliable, communicative company with which to do business. I have always tried to give independent vendors my business as they generally do a better job that larger companies...but I'm done with CTM.

It shakes my house whether they're next door, across the street, or even further away. They don't care if it's 7 am and they will start earlier than 8 am on weekends too. They've done nothing to improve their scheduling and are in my neighborhood at houses within earshot 4 or more times a week, all year long. They make living in this extremely high property taxed neighborhood a nightmare.
