This dad loves creating experiences and memories for his family. I also love to kick off or close out different seasons of the calendar. As summer comes to a close and the school year begins in just a few weeks, I wanted to find a fun, yet affordable, activity for my family. A last hurrah for summer, if you will. Pine Lake Water Park was the perfect little getaway. Located 2 hours from Indy, it was a nice little drive in the summer sun listening to Rilo Kiley (my daily album generator gave me a Public Enemy album, so I chose to listen to that later in my headphones! Lol). Directions were easy to follow and even though Pine Lake is located down a small road, it was easy to find. The thing I loved most about Pine Lake was the size. It is a nice, small to medium size area. It is easy to see almost the entire park from the beach area. I have an older teenager and two younger children. It was easy to watch my teen go off and do some activities while also being closer to my girls. The activities were fun and included multiple types of water slides, a zip line, a spring board and platform jumps, a water obstacle course for younger kids and a few unique apparatuses like a teeter totter that floated in the water. There was enough to do to keep my kids entertained for hours. They don't allow alcohol or outside food. But the parking is just outside the gate and you can leave and return easily with your wristband. They have several picnic tables around the parking area for public use. We packed a cooler and a bag for dry food and took a little lunch break in the shade. I will agree with another reviewer that mentioned how murky the water is. Due to a lot of people being in the water plus all of the movement, the water isn't clear, at all. That really only makes a slight safety concern. There are life guards everywhere, and I never felt that anything was unsafe. However, don't just leave it up to the staff for safety. I still watched my kids like a hawk. Just a little tip for the wary parent. Pine Lake was affordable, fun and a great daytrip adventure. My entire family had a wonderful time, and we plan to visit, again, next summer. All the fun of a waterpark, but on a lake! (Or man-made pond!) This is a super fun place to spend a hot day. There is a huge body of water in which to swim, water slides, a water obstacle course, a diving area, and an area away from the lake with a splash pad for little kids. It's the kind of place you want to stay and play all day. That being said, this is a lake (man-made pond?) and not a pool. The ground is sandy and the water is murky and you cannot see a couple of feet below the surface. So if you have young children or children who are not confident swimmers, you should keep a constant watch on them at all times. There were a couple of times when my child, who is a confident swimmer, went underwater and just disappeared. You literally cannot see anything under the water. For a few heart-stopping seconds, I was wondering where he went and luckily he surfaced shortly after. But there are parts of the lake that are deep and two times I saw lifeguards race into the water to dive after people who went into the water and didn't come up as fast as they'd like. This happened in the diving area, which goes down very deep. So, just be aware. This isn't a hands-off place for parents by any means. My children really liked jumping off the deck into the lake, and also the water slides. My youngest enjoyed the splash pad, which has a bucket that fills up and dumps water on you every so often. One thing to note is that you're not supposed to bring coolers into the park. However, you can bring your own food (I guess as long as it's not in a cooler), or purchase food at the snack bar that opens around lunch time. If you want, though, you can leave and visit your vehicle and have lunch in the parking lot. I saw lots of people doing that, and there are a few picnic benches scattered about. Be sure to bring a blanket or something to sit on! There are lots of grassy areas where people sit and put their stuff. We also brought a beach umbrella, which was a good idea because the sun was beating down and there wasn't any shade! read more

We went to pine lake water park today! It was pretty crowded but there's a lot to do and everyone honestly that I spoke to was nice and pleasant. I will say like others have on here if you have small children or children / people at all that can't swim, keep a close eye on them, you cannot see under the water. With that said, I was impressed at how many life guards and employees I saw looking over everyone and keeping an eye out. So good job! There is alot to do, multiple slides for all ages, zip line, splash pad etc. really nice little spot read more

We had 5 adults and 4 children. We all had a fantastic time. I was worried because I forgot my water shoes and being in a lake I didn't want to touch the bottom stuff. BUT it was all sand and pebbles. I was so happy no yucky mud to walk in. You could sit in the shade or in the sun. We didn't try the food because we brought PBj's and chips. But we heard the prices and food was good. 2 of the 4 kids wore life jackets and was able to do almost everything When you went down the water slides it was smooth and fast. The zip line was exciting. Us two lady's went up and stood there and chickened our the first time; but turned around and did it. I was terrified and was screaming the whole way. Our kids ages were 4-10 and they didn't want to leave. Oh and they have a splash pad area too. The only thing that bumps us out was no hot water to shower off after. Enjoy ! read more

This water park is a real diamond in the rough! A water park built on a lake. There is a full days worth of fun packed into this park. Slides, water zip lining, free open swimming, attractions in the middle of the lake, a splash pad for the little kiddos, and a snack bar. The food was good but if you plan to spend the entire day like we did we recommend you pack a cooler (which is allowed you just have to go to your car to eat it) I also recommend you bring your own chairs as they don't have any on their beach." This place is awesome. We went on a Friday and although the beach was a little small and there were a decent amount of people, the lines moved incredibly quickly for all attractions. In just an hour we had been on all four slides, the zip line and gone off all three diving platforms at least twice. Great for all ages. The lifeguards were all very friendly, especially the guard for the 30' platform. I was at the top, about to poop myself just looking down and he was very supportive and managed to get me to do it. One suggestion, make sure to wear a one piece or tighter top when doing the diving platforms so you don't lose it like I did. Lol. We'll be back. Definitely worth the trip. read more

A little gem in the middle of a corn field. We visited from northern Michigan because my kiddos had figure skating/hockey camp in Fort Wayne which was canceled (Covid. Sigh.) We come from a land of lakes so you work with what you got. Kids didn't understand why the water was so dark but they had a lot of fun. The staff was really friendly, lots of lifeguards. Lots of water slides the kids really enjoyed. My only major issue was the septic smell. It's not awful I guess but if you're not used to it, it's kinda yucky. We'll probably be back for camp next year and I'd visit again. read more

Really fun weekend get away. For a little lake/waterpark it had everything you needed and was pretty clean. Bathrooms weren't the best but that's not what we were there for. This is a good place to take the kids but definitely take them straight to the shower when you get home. The lake is like basically taking a bath with 100 other people.....very very dirty!!! If that doesn't bother you then you'll for sure have a good time, plenty of water slides, rafts, diving boards, splash pad, and even a couple cute paddle boards to rent. $7/person and kids 3 and under are free. The country me loves this place. The city me hates this place. Country JoJoe loves: the fact that this 'swimming hole' originated in the 1920's with families leasing a year long cabana on the property for a yearly rental; the pine trees surrounding the lake; the wooden structures for slides and towers; the relaxed atmosphere; the natural lake water; the sound of a chicken crowing heard throughout the park; the kiddie area with the dunk tank; the volleyball area in the sand; the towers & slides; that it is in the middle of nowhere; and the fact that 4 people in his family didn't get sick the day after...5 stars. City JoJoe hates: the bathroom facilities; the people in bikinis who should not be in bikinis; the debris in the lake; the cigarette butts in the grass; the natural lake water without any bacterial fighting chemicals; the lack of any place for shade; and the fact that 2 people in his family got sick the day after...1 star. I don't care what people say about this place, this place has been a part of my life since I was really little with my day care. We would go here on fried trips, with the fact we live an hour away. My family started to go here as a family tradition and we love it. Yes, this place can be dirty, but as long your having a good time, who cares? I just went there with a friend and I am about to go there with my family for a trip and it was great! There was awesome slides, food, a tedder todder, a splash pad, a zip line, a 10; 20; 30 feet jump places right near the zip line. There are 3 huge slides and one you can race one another, one you slide on a mat, and the other is so fast it seems like a few seconds and is totally dark then you splash into the water. There are two others that are 4 feet and shallow with 2 slides that my friends 3 year old brother went on, so the moral is that this is the best water park ever!!!!!! read more

Large pond in Berne that has several waterslides(with a convenient green light/red light feature) & fun water activities for all ages including a pontoon/rope combo, beach volleyball, paddleboats, a kiddie area w/ splash bucket & rain station, a waterslide that's completely covered & pitch black inside, a zipline, diving boards, large climbable buoy, & a huge water see-saw. There is basic food on premises like hot dogs & ice cream, & the bottom of the pond is nice & sandy. No glass or debris.There are also grills & tables outside of the gates in the grass if you brought your own food. Admission for adults is $7, & they are open from 10am-8 pm thru Saturday, & noon-8 pm on Sundays from memorial Day to Labor Day. The only problems I had with Pine Lake were that the bathrooms are really gross & the curtains don't really close the stalls. Also, they allow smoking inside the gates & people flick their cigarettes everywhere. My husband almost stepped on a lit one in the sand. When we went it appeared that it was a hot redneck vacation spot, as the low-class & trashy were everywhere, wearing stuff they really couldn't get away with, throwing cigarette butts everywhere, & cussing at their small children. Lovely. Aside from them, the cigarettes, & getting sick the next day from the bacteria in lake water, it was pretty fun. read more

This place should be considered a "swimming hole" rather than a lake. Don't expect people out jet skiing or tubing. However, for a privately run swimming hole in Indiana, it is exceptional! There are 5 watersides, several unique water devices to play on (like a Tedder todder!) and a 30 foot tower that you can jump off and free fall into the water! Oddly enough there are also a bunch of animals around the perimeter of the lake that you could probably pet if they come up to the fence (horse, goats, cows, chickens, peacocks). Additionally, it's only about $7 for entry and there is a reasonable concession stand. There's also a beech volleyball court. I would highly recommend coming here, as long as you don't expect everything to be freshly painted and shiny. read more
