Overall, this was a great little spot to stay for a few nights in Jasper! The staff are super friendly and accommodating. They keep a fire going so we got to enjoy sitting around the fire for a bit both nights we were there. There is a restaurant and bar on the property. I didn't get any food but they offered a small sangria welcome drink. The rooms are pretty comfortable and have a fridge but no microwave. I did find a small spider near my bed though. We also saw a few elk around the property which was cool! read more

Highly suggest staying at Pine Bungalows. Greeted by very friendly staff (and cow elk) upon arrival. Staff helped direct us to plenty of nearby locations that largely avoided impacts from the wildfire and retained much (or all) of their natural splendor--if you are worried about not being able to see much, don't be--come to Jasper and stay at Pine Bungalows. The cabin itself was very well maintained, smelled wonderful, and came packed with great tea and coffee. We were stocked daily with firewood, starters, and kindling that supported our s'more-eating habit. Our neighbor cabin guests, and all of the cleaning staff we met, were all kind and helpful. Our check-in staff member's handwritten directions on a lodge-provided map (attached) led us to several days of extraordinary beauty. She (Name = Strawberry) told us that Maligne Lake was pristine -- and we saw bald eagles, black bear cubs, and grizzly cubs with mom from the safety of our car. She said Pyramid Lake was beautiful, and we basked in the rich meadow trails and overlooks over several pristine lakes, including Pyramid Lake, and visited the wedding island to top it off. She encouraged us to take the tram up to Whistlers Mountain or drive to Mt. Robson--we did both (and Kinney Lake), and were left speechless both times. In other words, she helped us see Jasper and the surrounding area for what it truly is, and not just its recent disaster. We look forward to returning. A note on wildlife and the surrounding area. Magpies and cow elk frequently came right up to the cabin's perimeter. A coyote was seen outside the Bungalow's property, but never came close to the cabin (by visual, scat, or print). If you are trying to see wildlife, this is a great spot to use as your base of operations. There is a very occasional odor from the nearby water treatment facility, but it will last seconds for every hour you are outside so don't let that influence your decision. Can't recommend this business enough! Help Jasper recover and stay here! read more

Oh, dear. This 1960s or '70s motor-lodge complex needs more than the superficial spruce-up it's received. The washrooms are sort of a thin veneer of "newer", not enough to do the job (broken washroom hardware) and not enough to counteract the rest, which has slipped past "older" and into "neglected and overdue". The visible parts of the room seemed clean, but under the beds the dust bunnies have formed a large and growing community. I'm not a "run a white glove over every surface" type, but the amount of dirt under those beds made me wonder, uneasily, what other out-of-direct-site stuff has gone much too long without cleaning. As for the restaurant: the menu suggests the kitchen keeps a wide range of good ingredients on hand, but somebody needs to whack the menu planner with a rolled-up newspaper and firmly holler "NO!". They're trying way too hard to be clever, and they're really missing the mark. I appreciate innovation in cookery, but the menu was out of its context. I was left trying to find something on the less-pretentious end of the scale, which made me feel as though I weren't getting my money's worth. The food certainly wasn't bad or anything; on the contrary, it was quite good. There is skill and talent in the kitchen. My server was--very obviously--very intoxicated on something other than alcohol or cannabis. I am guessing maybe cocaine, the way he was skipping/dancing about, sweating, talking three miles a minute, forgetting he had tables to wait, and otherwise along those lines. I didn't see any abjectly dangerous behaviour from him, but he was not able to do an attentive job. I feel like this place has most of the pieces of the puzzle, they just need to direct some effort (and yeah, some money) into putting them together the right way. read more

Stayed in Oct 2023. Just getting to the reviews now. lol We rented a cabin at Pine Bungalows for our stay in Jasper. We wished we could have stayed a couple more nights. When we arrived, it was late at night, the property was pretty dark. We could not see our cabin number or the parking spot attached to our cabin. When we did get to our cabin and unpacked, we were greeted to a pleasant experience. The cabin is cozy, has a small kitchen and an electric fireplace. The bathroom has heat floor that felt so good when walking on in a cold morning. Once morning came, the view from the cabin is amazing. Crispy, clean air, the river flowing, and a nice area to hang out. The staff is friendly, the breakfast was great. If we come back to Jasper, which we will, we will be staying at Pine Bungalows again. read more

This place is tucked away in Jasper but so close to everything! Clean, beautiful setting and the nicest people!!

This place appears to be a decrepit mid century "lodge" bought by hipsters and tarted up a bit. It's run down in a lot of ways but the bathrooms appear to have been updated. While checking for bedbugs (none found) I did discover that they have perhaps never cleaned under the beds. The soap dispensers are mostly broken. The restaurant ... well there is some good stuff on the menu but it is incredibly precious. Someone is trying to make this a dining destination and it's not working. Give this place a pass at least for a couple of years while they get it together. read more

We rented an east cabin for two nights. The cabin was clean and comfortable. Each cabin has its own fire pit, and a wood package is complimentary for each night stayed. The location on the river cannot be beat. The breakfast at the restaurant was great. This is a relaxing vacation spot with a unique story. We would definitely stay here again. read more

What a great place. Stayed here one night before doing Skyline Trail for two nights. Rooms are clean (we stayed in a hotel room, but the bungalows looked super cool). Communal fire pit is awesome, front desk attendants were so pleasant. The restaurant/bar is the gem though. The rosemary breakfast scones are to die for (from a bakery in Jasper). It's five minutes from the downtown, it's the perfect distance to be close to food and booze, but in a secluded area. I hope to return someday. Rustic, clean, laidback, but luxury touches. Pine Bungalows was a wonderfully romantic experience. It's nestled minutes outside Jasper Town, in a small pine forest (hence the name). Cabins are private, clean and cozy, and come with their own barbecue. One caveat for us was no AC, the rooms got pretty hot even with all the windows open. If you don't get a kitchenette, don't expect a toaster, and there are no microwaves on the premises. Don't expect wireless either, though I did have full 3G coverage through Rogers. I might actually prefer it this way. We learnt how to make a fire with matches (kindly leant to is by the hotel) and firewood, and had to seriously improvise to get some of our food cooked. It was as I said, a wonderfully romantic experience and built our trust in one another - working as a team. The staff sets pine bungalows apart. Everyone was warm and welcoming, from the initial phone call, to dealing with my inconveniently timed broken credit card to helping us city-folk make a fire. They offered to send someone out to help us make the fire proper and gave us supplies when we were short. They were available most hours of the day with recommendations and helped us get the most out of our trip. Will be going back shortly. If you want a private place to stay and the cabin experience, this is a great option for you! read more

Honestly, two years ago I would've given this place four stars. After my recent experience, I'm not convinced that I'll be going back any time soon. I was impressed by being offered an early check in, we had arrived in Jasper around 1 p.m. and wanted to unpack the vehicle before going exploring. The check in was reasonably smooth and we were directed to our cabin. The cabin was a rustic and charming. It came with a kitchenette, but it did not have a toaster or a microwave. There are no phones or televisions in the room and no wireless internet, but we didn't really want or need them. The problems began when we headed to bed for the evening. The beds are rock hard and that made it nearly impossible to sleep. Also, there were four of us and they only provided one small roll of toilet paper and with the office closed, we were left to make due. Upon further inspection of the beds, the couple travelling with us discovered clothing tags left in the sheets, an obvious indicator that they hadn't been properly laundered, if they were laundered at all. With no other choice, we settled in for the evening and had a rough night on rock hard beds. Also, adding to the problem, was the Bachelorette party right next door. Apparently Pine Bungalows has no staff in the evening, and they were incredibly rowdy, loud, and very drunk. They definitely made it hard for us to sleep...both nights that we stayed there. I get the want to party but it needs to be respectful. Also, I'm not sure why we were put right beside them when there were other empty cabins. The following afternoon I headed to the office to get toilet paper and waited for 10+ minutes while the employee had a personal conversation on his cellphone. When I asked for toilet paper, he asked if the room had been cleaned and I said that it had been. He was apologetic and disappointed that the person who cleaned our cabin neglected to replace the toilet paper. Following that, we headed out for some adventures, and returned around 5 p.m. to cook dinner. It was only then that we discovered our oven was full of dirty dishes. There is a very clear sign that states that unwashed dishes would result in a $20.00 charge. The disquieting thing wasn't that there were unwashed dishes, but that whoever cleaned our room didn't even bother to check. Due to the fact that we had little time to wash the dirty dishes, we ended up eating out. I was very disappointed by my experience here, and it is really sad to see how far downhill a place can go in such a short amount of time. Cleanliness is super important to me when it comes to the places that I choose to stay. I'm not asking for white glove standards, but clean sheet and dishes are a must. read more

Stayed for three nights in a brand new cabin that faced the river (#26). The cabin itself was quiet, clean and very cozy. Pine Bungalows is very easy to find and conveniently located. Having the kitchen saved us a lot of $$ since we were able to do breakfast every morning. We were lucky enough to see elk and coyotes on the road leading into the bungalows and we also saw a family of elk crossing the river early one morning. As long as you don't need constant Wi-Fi, I highly recommend and would definitely stay again. read more

Our favorite accommodation across a week of travel. The restaurant cafe was everything. If you're a foodie and a little tired of the offerings this is so welcome. The mushroom puff pastry was amazing. Breakfast choices were perfect for us with eggs Benedict and patatas Brava. We also loved the house made soft serve basil orange ice cream. The best food of the week, greeted with sangria or mock tails for the kids in adorable and pristinely clean glasses. Service was impeccable and even my 14 year old son mentioned that Skylar was an incredible server who remembered our party from the night before and when we arrived for breakfast he noticed my daughter wasn't there and asked if he could take her drink order. The rooms are cabins so got to adjust your respective, however the rooms were clean spacious and my son swears the bathroom floors Were heated which was very welcome in the cold and rainy weather we were experiencing. We slept here the best of all of the places we stayed. Another family we traveled with remarked with the same comment. If we're in the area this will be our go to. read more

We stayed in the (ahem) "conference centre": actually 2 adjacent, small, 2-storey buildings. Very quiet, with considerate neighbours. Front-desk staff were courteous and helpful. They let us book 2 nights within a long weekend where some other Jasper bungalows required a 3-night minimum. Although just outside Jasper townsite, this is designed to feel like a rustic riverside colony. So, knotty-pine walls and oak floors. Based on our experience, you can expect a spotless but basic room: private balcony and mini-fridge, but no newfangled phones, TVs, or microwave ovens. There is WiFi. Our "conference centre" room had a wide built-in desk, but with no lighting, which was amusing. Luckily, we weren't there to work. We heard nearby trains. Bear in mind (sorry, pun) that Jasper was built by and along a railroad, which carries substantial cross-country freight traffic. But the train engineers sounded only muted foghorns, so we pretended we were staying beside the ocean. Pine Bungalows seems to cater to extended (and repeat) visitors, who I hope get discounts. The rate we paid wouldn't be competitive outside Jasper, given the "basic" ambience - not even in Banff, where it would have bought lots of comfy extras. But it worked for us, given the 2-night option. read more

Disappointing... Not in the cabins or accomodations but in the attitude of the manager/owner...or at least the outgoing owner. Apparently he has sold these properties. We have been coming to Jasper for a number of years as part of 2 separate golfing groups...one group for almost 40 years. We have had nothing but praise for service and friendliness of the management and staff over this time. They have been very good to us...until this year. Mike, the owner, informed us on our recent trip in June that this would be his last year there and that he has sold the resort properties. At that time, we were sorry to hear that he was leaving and congratulated him on his success and upcoming retirement. But as the evening went on, he started getting obnoxious and telling us that he didn't appreciate our past business and that he could have more money renting out the cabins to other people. He started getting fairly rude and tried to pick fights with a few of us. We were extremely surprised and taken aback by the sudden change in attitude from Mike. Well, we told him that we were very sorry that he felt that way, said our goodbyes and went into our cabins. We're extremely disappointed in what happened that last day there and with Mike's attitude. Not sure if our 2 groups will be returning to Pine Bungalows next year...we'll have to see what the new owners are like I guess. Goodbye Mike...wish we could still say that we are sorry to see you go but that isn't true anymore. read more

We had a great experience here. It was a newly renovated room that was perfectly clean. The thermostat controlled heat was put out by a gas fireplace. The people who work there are courteous and responsive. We saw elk wandering around in the morning. There is no wifi but that is on purpose so you can disconnect while in the park. I would definitely stay here again. It was a little too far to walk into town but it was just a few minutes drive. Each cabin comes with a fire pit where you can roast marshmallows. The kitchenette is just a small dorm sized fridge and a coffee maker. Two coffee cups and two glasses but no flatware or dishes. Nice sized bathroom and a king sized bed. read more

Very pricey for substandard accomodations. Paid $460 for two nights, & the entire day Saturday we had no hot water to shower, do dishes, etc (which is required of you, or you'll be charged $20). The hot water tank broke, so they reimbursed us $40 cash, & we were unable to shower & get ready for a wedding. Absolutely unacceptable, as I felt I was camping for $460. The room also wasn't available at check in & we were required to wait another hour. read more

Pine Bungalows in Jasper Alberta was the most memorable place I've ever stayed. If your looking a cabin experiences in Jasper I highly recommend staying here. We stayed for 4 night with our 9 month old baby and I couldn't complain about anything. Cabins are clean and just minutes from downtown. The view was beautiful from Mountains behind , river in front and waking up to an elk family out our window. Words can't explain how happy I'm that we made this our first family trip. read more

We've stayed 4 times before and loved it but after this weekends trip we will NEVER go back. It has gone down hill quickly over the past couple years. Besides the cabins being filthy and not having half the stuff needed (broom, cutting board, dish soap, bags in the garbage etc.) the worst part was how the owner treated us. He told us every night around 10/11 to turn off music and go to bed. We weren't even rowdy just playing cards at the picnic table! We tried to let the kids stay up late on the last night and he told us we could stay up for a bit longer but it was time to put them to bed! The beds were rock hard the sheets were super old and thin. There was only one flat hard pillow per person. It was boiling hot in the cabins with no fan. I could have overlooked those things if the owner wasn't so rude to us. It was the worst customer service I've had while staying in Jasper and we go a couple times a year. Together with our friends in the cabin beside us we spent $2000 on 4 nights and were treated like we were a huge burden to them. read more

We reserved a cabin for 5 people at Pine Bungalows in May, 2016 and it is nestled in the heart of Jasper National Park and a river just steps away. They are not kidding when they said you are surrounded by wildlife, there is deer feasting on the dandelions and walking by the cabins. The owner/operator, Michal Wasuita was on site most of the time and he took great care of the cabins with many upgrading in progress. The cabin inside was very new, clean and well maintained. Beds are comfortable and kitchen well stock with appliances, cookwares and dishes. You feel like living next to nature, there is no phone or tv which no one miss any modern day connection. read more
