As far as pools go, I'm not sure you will ever find a better store/service in our area. Unfortunately, I wasted a lot of time and expense at that "other" chain, trying to fix my green pool myself. I hit a dead end and finally gave up on those "experts." I contacted PaP, and they transformed my green pool into crystal clear in about one week! Then I needed an important equipment replacement. After a very high estimate from an independent pool company, PaP saved me well over $1K and unnecessary headaches and hassles that the other company assured us were very necessary. I'm writing this so you and the people you share or repost this with can rate for yourselves Largo Pinch a Penny. Several different managers (as it has never been the same manager twice), keep repeating " I apologize" and " how can I make it right", and my only response has been and continues to be to ask that they walk the talk of their mission statement of: "the roots and foundation of work ethic, customer first focus, & having a servants heart" at the core of Fred Thomas's business with current and future customers. We've been using Pinch a Penny Largo for 12 plus years because they lived up to that responsibility. In May of 2025 that changed. For the past year the pool is used daily as an integral part of rehab, therapy, health maintence, and quality of life. It continues to be. In May 2025 I purchased a new pump and filter and payed for installation. That's when I first started hearing " I/ someone will call you". I went back after about a week of no one calling to pick up my system so I could have someone else put it in as it sat in the same spot in the store. I was told I couldn't do that. After speaking to yet another manager, that's when I started hearing " I apologize" "how can I make this right", "I don't know anything about this", "I'll speak to David about this", that manager set up install for the next day. It was the day before Thanksgiving 2025 and the pump they installed in May, which was still under warranty, was failing. I went to the store and spoke to David (who installed the pump) about what I needed to do to address. He said "since it was under warranty he will order a new one that should come on the next truck on Wednesday and he will call when it comes in". All I need to do "is pay for install". I asked if he could come look at it. He said he didn't want to. "He'll look at it when he comes to do install" No one has ever called. I have called or gone into the store once a week since then, each time being told "No pump, it should be on next week's truck. Someone will call you". I went to the store Jan 8 2026 to ask again, and for the 1st time an honest staff shared what I already knew to be true." No pump was ever going to be on any truck because it was never ordered". In sum, were they disingenuous at best? or shameless lying that continued for weeks? For how long? As I stated at the beginning of this, I shared this with the manager of that day. I shared that I had set up for my pool to be fixed the day after it wasn't on the 1st truck (only down less than a week) because I wanted someone who cared like they used to, not the attempt at temporary appeasement rather than a real resolution. We all work hard for our money. Doesn't everyone deserve to be valued and treated with respect where and when we spend it? My grandmother sends me here often for pool supplies. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. They're also quite patient with me, a person who knows very little about pools. Today I stopped in for a new barracuda and was anxious about picking out a new one. NOT RECOMMENDED We have finally given up on Pinch a Penny as a pool service. Between uneducated pool technicians, grumpy service people complaining about how they are not making enough to pay their bills, acid spills on our deck, suffering through terrible un-swimable water quality, damaged equipment, promise after promise we have been loyal customers for 20 years, we have spent thousands of dollars with Pinch a Penny, even bought the salt system, had it installed by them, NEVER AGAIN. What happened to Pinch a penny??? It is like nobody cares any more. Corporate certainly does not care, Save your sanity and stay away from Pinch a Penny as a whole. I went to this pinch a penny because I moved back to the area and it's locally owned . I'm setting up a house that I'm moving into and in the process of selling the one I'm in. Today I spent about 700.00 to replace what was taken by renters or broken. I had a coupon for 20.00 off 200.00 I found on line for the month of November. However because it was an on line coupon the owner won't accept it. I still need another creepy crawly another 320.00 I don't think I'm going back. I can't believe this store doesn't honor pinch a penny coupons and no where did it say online only. I want to be loyal to my neighborhood stores and support my community . The service department at this location is TERRIBLE. Extremely rude and disrespectful service manager who hid in the back so as not to have to address customer issues. They do not take responsibility for their shoddy work. Only after receiving this poor service did we discover we could get the same pieces of equipment at 40% less from another supply. This franchise location of an otherwise good brand, Pinch-a-Penny, is disappointing and disorganized. I had bought my parents a green egg grill from these same folks who later sold us among other replacement parts the wrong size gasket. When attempting to resolve with Doug and Tom at the store, Doug walked away and Tom scolded my mom for having not read the size on the packaging the first time. My mom is the easiest, most reasonable customer on the planet..and really likes to avoid jerks. Congratulations Tom and Doug on tarnishing the Pinch-a-Penny brand and bullying my mom over a $20 gasket. Hope you feel good demeaning my mom and losing a customer. There's a nearby Home Depot with a pool section and Lowe's Home Improvement store less than 5 minutes away and worth the drive to avoid this Pinch-a-Penny store. read more

I have been very impressed with the service I receive from this Pinch A Penny. They installed a new pool pump and DE filter at my home. The job was very professional, the quality is outstanding, and I have had no problems with the system over the last 3 years. My Hayward Navigator recently needed repair. Chuck, at the service desk, did an outstanding job in repairing my unit. He is very considerate, knowledgeable, and efficient; his customer service skills are excellent. I have been going to this P-a-P since its opening. I agree that the service has been very helpful at times, especially Chuck and DJ. However, there seems to be a cloud hanging over the place. It doesn't look like a happy, friendly work environment. I NEVER see any of the employees smiling. Maybe they are stressed from negative reactions from customers or unreasonable demands from their bosses, (Doug and Trish?) It would help if they were a bit more approachable. After being a customer for 8 years and spending thousand of dollars, I have being ripped off . A few weeks ago my wife purchased at this store a new water filter system. Not only they installed the wrong system and we let it go to avoid any confrontation between owner and staff, but it never worked properly. Then after a few requests asking for them to check why the system is not working properly, they told us to wait 2 to 3 weeks to have the first available technician at my property with a charge of $125. I should had the system removed, have them install the correct one I purchased and made sure before they left that everything was actually working. I feel sorry for the staff that they need to deal with this kind of management. THIS MUST A BE A PLANNED GIMMICK TO HAVE SOMETHING INSTALL THE WRONG WAY AND THEN CHARGE YOU TO SEE WHY IS NOT WORKING! All could have been resolved in 30 minutes or less. I live 7 minutes from the store. read more

The last time I had anything to do with a pool was waaay back when I was living in Sacramento, Ca. My family had a Doughboy swimming pool..the above ground kind that the neighborhood kids loved to come over to swim in. It was quite a tedious job checking the filter, skimming, vacuuming and such but I learned a lot about acidity levels, chlorine and general pool maintenance. Flash forward to now where I found myself calling Pinch A Penny when I couldn't 're-prime' the pump. It was working good a few weeks back but the motor sounded like it was laboring and no water was circulating. I called them up and followed their directions to a T but no luck. So they sent out their guy who arrived an hour before our appointment (a good thing since it became stormy) and he quickly surmised the pump motor needed to be replaced. Perhaps a star off because they don't carry the type of pump (made in Canada) and because he suggested buying a new pump for between $500-$600. He DID suggest going on Craigslist to see what was available and have found several options for $100-$150. The guy was very knowledgeable and down to earth. He suggested a major chlorine shock treatment for the time being which might be a short-term solution. I do miss my doughboy though..those were simpler times... read more

I just made another purchase at Pinch a Penny on Seminole Blvd. I got good information from Doug and I am completely satisfied with the product. On another occasion I went to Pinch a Penny after hours (missed by about 15 -20 minutes) "Trish" opened the door let me in and arranged service for me the following day. Not sure that I could have gotten that kind of service from any other store. Don't know why some other reviews are so negative because my family has never had a bad experience here. I have been a routine customer and will continue to be one. I guess if you don't like the service you just shouldn't shop there and then you won't harbor ill feelings. There is always a possibility that if you looked in the mirror you may find the real problem. read more

One of the worst customer service experiences on multiple occasions. I have had nothing but problems. They have inconsistency on chemicals and how to treat my pool, with what equipment I needed, and with repairs. I had to move to using a pool company to regulate chemicals because this PAP couldn't get it right--or they did it wrong just so I would have to keep coming back and spending over $100 a month on chemicals (asinine). I have brought parts in and they have given me the wrong parts and I have had to make extra trips to get the right parts and just get "deer in the headlights" looks when I would bring the wrong parts back for exchange. I had to replace my pump about a year and half ago and last spring had them replace the impeller on my pump, and they screwed up the repair. Now, not even six months later today, I took it in because it was leaking and was told that "I" overheated the pump (even though it has had the same activity daily for 15 years and the impeller and pump had been fine up until 1.5 years ago), and then was told that they wouldn't warranty their work because "it was done right" despite it obviously failing. Every person I have interacted with there has been rude and snotty with any problems I came in with, even though I have tried my best to be polite when I walk in the door. I'm tired of trying. I took my pump and went down the road to Leslie's pool supply. read more

I've been a customer of this store for over 7 years, and after the way I was treated today, I will never shop here again. They sold me chlorine in containers that had leaks in the bottoms - they did not fall over and leak from the top, which is what their warning label states they are not responsible for - these containers have cracks in the bottom and the cholrine leaked all over the back of my truck, ruining the carpet. Not only did the owner never return any of my phone calls to discuss this (I left several messages with the store), when I brought the containers in to talk to someone, I was treated poorly - the woman talking to me refused to take any responsibility for the leaks, in fact she refused to believe the containers leaked at all. But she did offer to sell (yes, sell) me a tray to put the containers in. Let's see - you refuse to admit you have leaky containers, yet you conveniently sell trays for customers to put your leaky containers into? So, the end result is - Pinch A Penny takes zero responsibility for the way they do business, therefore, I will give them zero business going forward, and I encourage anyone reading this to do the same. read more

I think its real horrible how the Pinch A Penny store at 9686 Seminole Blvd in Seminole has treated us. The aggravation that Tyler and D.J. have put us through is unbelievable. My husband has been a customer at this store since he bought our house 13 years ago. The lack of care from these associates from this whole fiasco is unbelievable. It all started with getting a new pool filter installed. After D.J. installed the filter, we noticed the pump sounds like an airplane is taking off. Its very loud, so loud that our next door neighbors came over and complained. Also, we mysteriously developed a pipe leak that was certainly not there before. And he left a mess of cracked and jagged edged PVC pipe just discarded in our yard. I guess he doesn't feel the need to clean up after himself. He also said he would move the sand filter away from the house and he didn't. And even though these issues have happened, we were not that mad. What got us mad was that when we brought these matters up with his boss Tyler, Tyler took on the "whatever" approach. He sent D.J. back out to our home a few days after my husband called to check on the leak and he told Tyler that he could not see it. Let me tell you, this leak was VERY visible. And if he could not see it, he should have because my husband gave detail as to where it was. I just so happened to be in my garage for several minutes that day and D.J. was indeed parked in front of my house but in all honesty I don't think he ever got out of his van. He probably saw me leave and left right after I did. I mean how could you not see this? Then about 2 weeks later, D.J. finally came back and my husband actually had to leave a note with an arrow to show him where the leak was and he reported back to Tyler that he didn't touch that area, so he didn't do it and suggested that my husband buy a $10.00 O-ring to help with the noise (my husband took this advice and found that there was not that much difference in the noise, and the original O-ring had nothing wrong with it, so we wasted $10). We are not asking or expecting something for free. All we wanted was an estimate on how much this leak would cost to fix, and to address the loud sounding pump and to be treated with respect. Tyler gave my husband some estimate for the repair and the numbers did not even add up. My husband called back and asked to speak to the owner (Trish is the name he was given) because he felt that he was getting no where with Tyler. My husband felt like he was being made to sound like he was lying. The owner would not even get on the phone. She had some guy named Tom call back and got my husband's side, and then talked to Tyler and D.J. and came back and said the same thing that D.J. said, he didn't touch this pipe. Then my husband asked Tom out of curiosity how come after D.J. did the install and turned the system back on, why didn't he notice the loud airplane sound or the leak. Tom's reply was that they don't really have time to check all of that after an install, and my husband said that's ridiculous, why wouldn't you check the system after you work on it? His response was that it wasn't Pinch A Penny's policy. And my husband said thats a shitty policy and told Tom that he would have appreciated if the tech said that he found a leak and it would cost so and so to fix. So you can imagine, this is probably where it really started to get off on the wrong foot. My completely frustrated husband asked for an estimate on paper and they sent it about 4 days later. And still after all this nonsense with this store and against my wishes, he called to okay the repair on Thursday Oct 15th and asked to speak to Tyler and Tyler never called back. He called again Saturday and Monday, and the people answering the phone said that they have left notes for Tyler. He has yet to call back. It is painfully obvious that Tyler does not know how to do his job and he thinks avoiding issues and not resolving customer issues is the correct thing to do. Well, never mind Tyler and Pinch A Penny because we contacted your competitor and they came and fixed it for $150 less than the estimate this horrible Pinch A Penny store gave us. We never once complained when this Pinch A Penny charged us $16.00 for grease. Mind you this is just a little bit of grease on the lid to the pump filter, but really $16.00? And also they wanted to charge us $30.00 for PVC. Wow for a tiny job, that's highway robbery. And we never once complained until now and it's all because we got the shaft. We have family and friends with pools and you better believe that they have heard about this. And also we will never buy the hundreds of dollars of gift cards that we would buy as gifts for birthdays and Christmases. Thanks a lot for the aggravation and the wasted time!!
