We take our 8 mo old son to PT every Friday. They left me a message stating that "Ms.R.. is not in the office today", 2 hours prior to his appointment. Every momma knows it is very challenging to dress yourself with a baby. (I live an hour away from all facilities) so this was very irritating. I had to reschedule one of his appointments I called several times leaving a voicemail to call me back and nothing. I then email the cancel@pillerchilddevelopment.com email and it tells me it doesn't exist. I was then finally able to get in contact with a clerk I asked her if there were any openings with the PT he already sees and she said yes and schedules me. We arrive to his appointment and it was with a totally different PT. During his therapy she talked the entire time and didn't work with him. read more

We go to the Gilbert location. My daughter who is 3 attends both OT as well as ST classes. We just had her 6 month eval for her OT and she has met all her goals for the first 6 months and I am so proud! She works with Lenley when we have OT who is fantastic with her and also always has great ideas for home activities to help reach goals! For speech she has improved immensely and everyone around us has noticed how much she has improved in such a short time. My daughter adores attending classes and gets excited, even asks if we can go on weekends. I only give a 4 star rating due to scheduling and office staff. There have been 2 times now that we have been on our way to class and we got a call 10 minutes prior informing us that class was canceled due to lack of personnel. I do completely understand that and that people have to call in some days. However our classes are a few hours after opening, and I have a 45-50 min drive on top of a 3 year old who has a melt down for the rest of the day when we have to leave the parking lot without attending her loved class. So an hour prior at least would be very appreciated. Also the front staff always seem very upset, I've seen them shake their heads at kids being a little excited or roll their eyes and I've only seen one smile maybe once.... It is also very hard to get in touch with anyone. I've in the past tried to call it was very difficult as there is not individual numbers for each location, just one number for the company so that can make it hard for communication. My daughter came down with a fever the morning of one of her classes and I understand the 24 hour notice and have never canceled same day in the past before. But if my daughter wakes up a 102 fever in a pandemic I think it's in the best interest not to attend. I spoke with one guy who then informed me if I canceled same day again he would remove me as a client. I was shocked. This was my first same day cancellation that wasn't canceled by them themselves and we have always had pretty good attendance. We scheduled a make up class and he was just very unpleasant to talk to. I then stressed out since I know how much my daughter loves her classes and they are helping so much not wanting them to be called I decided to call again to make sure she wasn't removed. Thankfully Ben answered and he confirmed we have had great attendance and cleared up what the misunderstanding must have been. So my daughter still had her classes and there was a misinterpretation about the policy for removing a client for a same day cancelation, in my case we were in the clear. read more

This place is dangerous! Very unethical practices. They will be reported to my insurance, DDD, and the State about what happened with my son on multiple, occasions. I've worked in behavioral health for 20 years and have never known and OT to restrain a child for non-compliance. Be careful. Do not come here! read more

After my daughter had gone to Occupational Therapy at PCH for more than a year, we transitioned her to Piller. Her therapist has made strides with her in such a short amount of time. We are really happy with the progress our daughter is making. The process is a little different from our experience at PCH, since the parents do not go into the therapy room to observe therapy. It is more difficult to learn things to do to reinforce the therapy at home when you cannot observe it. However, I think my kiddo is less distracted when I am not around. That means she is, hopefully, more productive. The nice thing about the waiting room area is you get to meet other parents who are there for similar reasons. It is always good to meet people who have gone through or are going through the same things. Also, if you need to leave while your kiddo is in therapy to run an errand, you can feel free to do so. There is a shopping center nearby for those who want to use the time to get some things done. I am happy with Piller up to this point. I would recommend them to anyone looking for OT services. They also have clinics in Gilbert and Mesa. :) read more

This is going to be long, sorry. We have been working with Pillar for over a year. My son started out with just occupational and speech therapy. Everything was great for about the full year, we had both therapies back to back Saturday mornings. My son is 8 and has school and 15 hours of behavioral therapy elsewhere during the week, which makes our availability limited, so Saturdays were a great option. The place was always clean, all the staff was friendly, even on the phone. The girl up front, Sarah, was so great. Then the owner and our insurance starting making changes and honestly the place has gone to downhill. A couple months ago my insurance decided to change their policy for therapy sessions that only a licensed person can do the therapy sessions with my son instead of the certified assistants. As a result, the therapist we were working with could no longer work with him and that meant that the day and time slot we had was no longer available. When they notified me, I immediately asked her to comb the scheduled for both offices (Ahwatukee and Mesa) to find something that works for us. Regina was the one I talked to who originally gave us Friday at 4pm option so we took it. The second session we had was cancelled by them just 2 HOURS prior to the appt time because the therapist was not in-which is very unprofessional. This was a huge issue because I initially got a voicemail from Regina who spoke low and fast and I didn't understand any of it except "cancelled today" and something about scheduling. When I called back she was unavailable and asked the girl on the phone if she could tell me what the voicemail was about because I couldn't hear it and I think our session was cancelled. She "looked in the notes" and told me yes our session was cancelled that day. I asked her if there was anything else because there was more on the voicemail I could not hear and she said no. The next Friday my son showed up with his grandfather and was sent away because he did not have an appt. He notified me and I was confused because no one had called to cancel with me. I called and again spoke to Regina. She said that I was informed the week prior that that therapist was no longer available to work with my son. I insisted that I was NOT told that he was removed from the appt time. She immediately got attitude with me and said I was told in a voicemail the week before and it was all in the notes. I explained how I couldn't understand it and had to call back and the other girl didn't tell me that but she didn't care so I had to speak to her supervisor. They had nothing for afternoons and Saturdays weren't an option either. How can they not have any afternoon or Saturday appointments? Even though we have an odd schedule, there are 4 days a week where we have afternoon time we can meet. During the summer, we had added feeding therapy and that appt was soon to end because school started soon and we needed to move that appt as well. She explained that the company was making a lot of changes and moving all therapists around to a new schedule, plus they lost some employees but were in the process of hiring new ones. So basically, your owner decided to completely change the schedules of all therapists (knowing they work with autistic clients who HATE change) without warning? In addition to that, my own insurance has made changes at the same time literally leaving us between a rock and a hard place. So I had to grin and bear it and be on the wait list.... Literally the following week, we had yet another issue. Now I share custody with his dad and his grandma on that side dropped him off. While I was waiting to pick him up, I asked the girl (not Sarah who I haven't seen in a while and think she left) to look and see if any availability had opened up. During that time, I realized he should've been done by then, so I asked where he was at and she told me he was in occupational therapy session. I was confused because remember, he's on a waiting list... It turns out that when grandma dropped him off that morning, they asked her if she wanted him to stay later and have occupational too with the same therapist since they had an opening. The issue is; 1) she doesn't have the authority to make that decision, 2) she did NOT tell me or his dad about it, and 3) she doesn't even know English or what she agreed to. Why?! Why would you ask someone who clearly doesn't know English and not call the parent? I was livid! I pulled him out because I had to get to work, but that was the last straw for me. So since we are still on a wait list, we are actively pursuing other facilities. My advice? Don't waste your time with this place. I overheard someone else in the lobby complain about a similar issue while I was there last week, so its not just us. They clearly need to get their shit straight and I don't see it happening any time soon. read more

Our son has been a little slow to talk but the folks at Pillar Child Development did a great job working with him, making a huge positive difference in his day to day life. Before stopping services (in favor of working with an audiologist) our therapist left the company. We then had two sessions with a person we were not happy with. We brought this up with management and they worked with us to make things right. They truly do care about making a difference in children's (and families) lives. If we require speech therapy after finishing our audiology tests, we look forward to using their services again :) read more

My child was born with RBPI. He was first with Phoenix Children's OT. However when they switched therapists on him, the new one said he was fine and didn't need therapy. 6 month check up with his surgeon and was told that he should have been in therapy all along. That is when we switched to Aimee at PCD. Are far as billing goes, you do pay for the visit at the time of service. In comparison to PCH, they were 1/3 the price. I like that I don't have medical debt for OT. We have a high deductible plan and pay for the entire visit out of pocket until our large deductible is met. My interaction with the staff is limited to Aimee, due to the nature of OT. We wanted someone who specializes in my son's injury. My son loves her. For almost the first year, I sat in on the therapy sessions. She is very knowledgeable and is able to answer my questions pertains to his growth. I have no hesitation to recommend them to anyone. Especially if your child has a BPI. read more

Piller child development has very poor management. This is clear considering a desperate plea for good reviews was written on Facebook. This company is extremely disorganized and seem to only care about money and not client satisfaction. My son went to Piller for four months and saw a variety of therapists so never developed good rapport with anyone. Sorry but I do not recommend them. read more

Care there was fine- but billing? They mis-billed and made us ineligible for further care- EVER, despite the incorrect condition being the office's mistake. Then, they bill us full price for what was then no longer covered- and when we try to follow up with billing, no call backs from our messages, and we have been sent to collections. Multiple calls, their mistake, and their lack of follow through. And it is our credit that is damaged. Maybe they can finally call us back if they read this. I support small businesses, but you drop the ball and damage other people's credit? I cannot support this company. read more

The therapists are great. The office staff is SO unorganized. They schedule appointments and then we show up and they aren't on their calendar. That has happened no less than 3 times in the past month. They need to get their office staff act together. I'm seriously thinking of taking my child elsewhere just do to their lack of organization. read more

Piller Child Development was life changing for our family. Aimee and her team worked with my child to help him gain critical life skills as we made our way through the Autism diagnosis process. I cannot express enough our satisfaction. They went above and beyond to make sure they could serve our family with extra accommodations as we drove 3+ hours into town for appointments. My has been attending pilar for several months and I see great behavioral and speech changes in him I really love all the therapist there. They are very personal and one on one with each parent. I can really appreciate the focus and attention they give my son. Everyone makes me feel at home or as if I'm a family member and show lots of concern with my personal and family issues occur. They have been really great with working with my ever changing schedule at the last min. I really like pilar and I know I made the best choice bringing my son here. He loves and gets along with everyone and they take time out with him rather their his therapist or not. I also speak highly of pilar and their staff members. Very disappointed. Despite being told NOT to go with PCD, I did anyway. I wish I had listened. First, my 4yo was constantly randomly placed with other speech therapists that were not hers. The "substitute" therapists rarely worked on what my daughter had been working on, making things very confusing for her. Second, you guys would cancel appointments on us once a month, several times as I was on my way TO the appointment (which was not close for us, going from Mesa to Ahwatukee). Third, you guys fired the only therapist who was actually working towards qualification in the particular type of (OM) therapy that my daughter needs. You then put her with MORE new therapists (PLURAL) that she'd never been with before. I finally got fed up and decided to transfer to the Mesa clinic, since it's closer to home for us, thinking that maybe another location would be different. The first day we came to the Mesa office, a girl walked out and called my daughter back and never once introduced herself to us (I STILL have no idea who she was). Despite having all my daughter's info in front of her and talking with me, she insisted starting over from square one. I was patient with it but after she just kept telling my daughter to re-pronounce the words that she was saying wrong over and over and over again -- instead of trying to coach her on how to fix it -- I was almost at my wit's end. In August, we had to leave town for several weeks and I was told that we would have to be taken off the books completely and figure out new days when we got back into town, since they couldn't cancel two week's worth of appointments. Fine, I can handle that. When I called back and tried to get her back on the books again, and specifically asked for her to be placed with Dr. B. (I believe his name was) because he was the only one who seemed to have a clue in his head on how to help my daughter, I was told they would "have to look into it" and call me back tomorrow. Guess what -- "tomorrow" was almost a month ago. They dropped the ball and that was the last straw. I would never come back to you guys again and would STRONGLY advise others against doing the same, just as people tried to tell me in the first place. Figure out how to run a good business, for the sake of all future patients. Children will never flourish the way they need to when you're changing things up on them constantly. Just when they start to trust someone, you stick them with someone new. And I know I'm not the only one you guys do this to, either. How disappointing. read more

I agree with Yael - I think the therapist was okay. However, I was deeply troubled by the billing staff. When I handed my insurance card to them I was promptly told they do not accept my insurance. After explaining that I had called and been told very specifically by my insurance company that PIllar is in network for for me they agreed to call and verify. They called my insurance company only to to told that yes, we are covered. Despite being told that my coverage was 100%, they insisted on collecting payment after speaking with the owner. I find this deeply troubling and was incredibly disappointed at the major lack of professionalism on the office staff's part. I could hear the entire conversation that was had with my insurance company and between the staff. I was dumbfounded how a staff member in an office that is there to help children could treat each other so poorly, with a lack of compassion and understanding. This is not the type of place I would like my child to receive therapy. I feel for the employees of this business who are forced to go after the almighty dollar rather than working with their clientele in an understanding and empathetic way. read more
