Being able to do things without pain has been so amazing. I went on a trip and knew that I wouldn't have been able to do a lot of the things I did without Pilates. I have flat feet and an extra bone in one foot. My whole body is misaligned because of it and I have had several injuries that are exacerbated by the severe pronation. Working out has always been difficult, pulling muscles easily, spraining my ankles constantly, and knees slipping out of place with barely any force. Pilates has made it possible for me to strengthen, align, and improve every part of my body, allowing me to live a more functional life, all while in grippy ankle socks. I can't wait to see how the next six months go! The instructors are really nice as well and the community is amazing. Emily, I know it's early for a review. All the instructors are fabulous- very attentive and extremely knowledgable. Class size is small, which is wonderful because you really receive that extra attention so you can perfect your form. I feel very fortunate to be a student at Pilates Plus. They will push you hard, but the results are great. When I am out of town for school, I try to find nearby pilates/barre studios. Thanks to Pilates Plus, I feel ahead of the game at other studios! If a barre or pilates class at Pilates Plus can't tone your body, I'm not sure what else will! I Highly recommend barre, pilates, and yoga at Pilates Plus!

The coaches, Neil and Denise are awesome! They are friendly, knowledgeable, encouraging, and motivating, without being too overpowering or intimidating. The gym (old location) was in what looked like a really old apartment building. The space was too small for my own comfort if there were more than say 6 people there working out at a time (Saturdays...augh!), but I am not fond of small spaces with too many people (no one else seemed to be bothered by this, so it is just a personal opinion). There is plenty of, as well as a good variety of equipment to workout with. The coaches incorporate standard (well-known) weigh-lifting moves along with some new moves that you can definitely feel working (I love learning new fitness moves to keep the workouts interesting). I did feel we kept with pretty much the same workouts each week, though, and just tweaked it by increasing weight/resistance, so I wish that had changed more often. That being said, it WAS just a 6-week program I was in, so it probably wasn't long enough to change the workout much. I do remember Denise explaining in the beginning why they do it that way, but just can't remember the reason right now. (On the new location at Kearney St.): They opened their doors this past Friday, so I used it twice. It is a perfect size now, with an extra room to use if you need more space. It is still in the process of getting all the equipment there..kettlebells, maybe some weight racks, etc, but it looks promising. I would highly recommend giving this gym a try! You won't be disappointed! Highly Satisfied, Bobbi Kusk PS: I did reach my goal in the 6 weeks...YAAAYYY!!! I'm down 12 pounds and 8% bodyfat, and plan to stick to the diet and exercise (though more outdoor fitness now that the weather is perfect for it‍‍‍‍ Thank you Lodestone Strength (Neil & Denise)! ‍

This gym is small but effective. You know kettle bells are a good workout since the owner Shari is super fit and built. I wish I had arms like hers! She helps each member with their posture and form and makes sure that you are pushing yourself (but not to the point of danger). You get special attention and personal training with each class you go to because class sizes are never too big. There's a lot of kettle bell training as well as yoga and TRX training. Kettle bells really get you sore afterward so a yoga session following a kettle bell class is a nice treat. Prior to this class I had absolutely no experience with kettle bells. Now I am a definite advocate for them and have been incorporating them into my personal workout routines.
