I found out about Pillar Content via Groupon. I paid $65 for a professionally written resume. I filled out the ten-question survey and attached my existing resume and within 24 hours I had a beautiful, perfectly formatted professional resume! I almost didn't recognize myself in the words...but in a good way. It was amazing to see myself through the eyes of a potential employer. Be sure to read all of the instructions for the survey before you take it. Some of the questions are repetitive but they did that on purpose. For me, the survey took about 30 minutes and was really mostly cut and paste. I highly recommend Pillar for whatever you need. They are quick, courteous, professional and thorough. My resume now says what I have been trying to say for years but didn't quite have a handle on the verbiage. I was hugely disappointed by this service. I purchased the a Living Social deal and it was a complete waste of money. After sending my materials I received the resume and cover letter back essentially reorganized from what I had given to them. They were 10 days late on the stated turn around time, and there was absolutely zero creativity or thought put into the work. After years in the same profession, I am transitioning into a different field and thought an updated resume might assist me in this process. That may be the case, but this company is certainly not up to the task. Per Pillar Content's instructions, I submitted my current resume and answered their questions in order to give them enough info to develop a personalized resume. What I got back was a very generic resume (one of my 'skills' was 'communicator'- huh? isn't every person a 'communicator'?) with a bland layout that was full of employment date errors and mismatched fonts. I sent it back several times for re-editing and got back small improvements each time, but the larger issues remained. I then rewrote large areas of the resume myself and prepared to use it for a job application- only to find it could not be cut and pasted into email without it ruining the resume format. Since most job applications are now completed via email, what resume that can't be cut and pasted be of use to anyone in the modern world? I wrote to the company yet again about these issues over a week ago and have not heard back. I have asked livingsocial (where I bought the deal in the first place) for a refund as the quality and customer service leave much to be desired. read more

I have not yet completed my work with Pillar to develop a new resume . The superior customer service they have provided to me so far has me confident that my final product will be excellent. As a new individual to using Internet-based service models to produce a resume, I have had many questions. They have ranged from how to enter a Groupon code to various aspects of the online survey. Each question has been answered professionally, promptly, and in a manner that allowed me to move forward. Pillar's customer service has been excellent. First draft was ok, when requesting revisions I got one email saying "We appreciate your feedback and have sent your request to the writer for revision purposes and we will send you the updated version soon."... That was on Sept 9th (15 days ago), haven't seen or heard anything since then, even after sending a follow up email a week after. I was able to make a good resume out of the rough draft, only reason I'm giving 2 stars **UPDATE! Changing to one star review. They didn't even get my phone number right! I had multiple people review my application and because in email form the top part is grayed out no one noticed my area code had been typed as 205 instead of 206. I sent multiple emails to the company requesting follow up but received nothing. I've learned the hard way you get what you pay for, your resume is worth paying full price for a quality one. read more

Purchased an industry resume rewrite from Pillar through Groupon. The link was a simple questionnaire. All I did was cut and paste content into the provided fields. It took less than an hour. I bought the Groupon for Resume Services and I couldn't be happier with the result. I already have given out Pillar Contents name and contact infromation to my friends to have their resume updated/completed by this company. I filled out the online form on a Thursday, heard back with a first draft on Friday and got the final draft the next Monday. Great services and very FAST! I got a Cover Letter, My Resume and My References done by Pillar and received a PDF file as well as a Word doc of my resume. I HIGHLY recommend them for anyone that is looking for a Resume service. read more

This is not the place to get your résumé did (or as they'll spell it back to you, re-sume). I thought the Groupon/Living Social deal would be interesting to try out given it was a local company and it turned out to be a waste of money. These people are obviously farming out the services to somewhere else. Save your $40 by sitting at Starbuck's and drinking some lattes and rewriting your résumé there. --- Résumé Format Out of This World: I interview a LOT of people for a lot of different technical positions. I have *never* seen a résumé in the format they sent back to me that's supposedly "industry standard." It looks like they're marketing you off to go to work overseas where English is somebody's second language. This is definitely not a typical US format that they are providing. --- Tpyos and Inconsistencies: you better be careful and review what they send. I sent them my technical résumé indicating my proficiency with XML and they sent it back to me saying I'm great with XLM. They also spelled "dashboard" different ways in the resume like "dash-board" and then "Dash Board." --- Resume Impossible to Edit: on top of the format being nothing like I've ever encountered in the technical industry, if you want to make changes to it, you better be a wizard with magical Microsoft Word skills. I can code a UI and get a database optimized with T-SQL but I can't fix stupid, which is what my résumé ended up turning into with Pillar Content. On the upside, their customer service and turnaround time for me was very pleasant and quick. For that, I will give them 2 stars...but that's the only positive. read more

I used a special deal through Home Run for a resume package, but it was a complete waste of money. They promised an initial draft in 3 to 10 days, but now it's been over a month and they've returned nothing. They also do not respond to emails asking for status updates. Save your money and find somebody who will actually do the work they promise. read more

This process in cumbersome and the team does not read or react to notes on revisions of resume. There are also several grammatical errors (moving between present and past tenses, incorrect use of commas, words not spelled correctly). Even if the content were not great, I would expect a service to be able to proof read their own material for these types of errors. I am disappointed and would not recommend this business to others. read more
