A yr ago, a botched hip replacement has left me very stiff, weak, aches/pains in knee n lower back, limited mobility, a heavy limp and reliant on a cane. Now, 3 months of private sessions with my great instructor,Sean,(shout out to Fleur also) my aches, pain and stiffness has dissipated! I'm stronger, walking faster (without cane) and much more flexible. It has also boosted my confidence and helps me focus on mindful/conscious breathing. I can't live without it now - I love it! Thanks Andrea

Our instructor, Ashley, was very kind and kept the class motivated. She would go around and make sure everyone had proper form and gave good direction. Going to pilates has been cheaper and more fun than physical therapy, that's for sure! I thought I would never be one of "those people" who did reformer pilates, but I am a convert. I like that the classes are only 45 minutes, it turns out you can do a lot of strength training in that time. All of the teachers are wonderful and supportive. I love all of them. They also agreed to support my son's elementary school PTA by donating several starter packs (thank you Renee!) to our silent auction. I bring the cost of attending through Classpass and the upfront purchase of a 20-class pack, which enables me to go between 6-8 times a month. Getting there: I walk, occasionally I drive (there is parking in front on Wilshire and in the back). I try to bike, since that involves cardio. When I do, I bring my bike inside the studio. Lastly I don't know how they do it, but the studio always smells wonderful and comforting.

Now, over 150+ classes later, my only regret is not starting sooner! I feel super fit, healthy, and mentally happier. It can feel intimidating to try something new, but the Natural Pilates instructors are so welcoming and make the learning curve really comfortable. And the great thing about Pilates is that you can go at your own pace! Plus the instructors are very mindful about modifying movements to suit your body. My body looks and feels the best it ever has. I have noticeable muscle definition in places on my body that were previously neglected. I have to shout out some of my favorite instructors across Brentwood, Beverly Hills, and WeHo, because they really got me here (although they're all amazing!) Keenan will give you an incredible whole body workout every time. He's so encouraging and supportive, and he's a great teacher all around. His classes are the absolute best way to start your day. I used to hate mornings until I started taking his classes. Devon is hilarious -- you will feel the burn, but he will have you laughing through it (it's like a bonus ab exercise!) He also brings a creative touch and explores different moves that optimize all the different equipment. Gev will help you find the mind-body connection in ways you never noticed before; his classes feel like a combination of a rigorous workout and peaceful meditation at the same time. Tamar brings such great energy to every class, is so motivating, and makes Pilates feel like a holistic experience. Her classes make me feel balanced-- literally and figuratively-- even beyond the physical aspect of exercise. And last but certainly not least, Laura (the founder) is just amazing. You must take at least one of her classes to get the full Natural Pilates experience. I swear I hear her saying "Squeeze your glutes!" in the back of my mind all the time. She built an incredible community of both instructors and members, and I owe so much of my well-being to her! Love this place so much. Try it, stick with it a bit, and you'll see and feel the results before you know it.

Cannot imagine spending my money somewhere that supports such a vile person and I hope you will consider somewhere else that includes staff whom are genuinely caring and supportive of all people, both in their studio and in real life.

The instructor and owner KATY is very kind, very positive and truly deeply experienced…read more This review addresses both her excellent teaching and the private, as well as the studio itself. The highest compliment I can pay Katy is that she deserves a studio as upscale and classy as she is. The pricing is incredibly reasonable; and she goes out of her way with regards to schedule to ensure that privates can be set up around the clients in her schedule. I got a tremendous amount out of the 55 minutes that we were working, and was truly impressed by her skill as a pilates instructor - clearly she can handle both newcomers up to advanced dancers. The owner was transparent and said that at this time she's limited in being able to take on new clientele, but is always open to the conversation as scheduling might just work out. Like a lot of studios post Covid, she still working out other instructors' schedules. So that this review is credible, there are a few things that should be shared in transparency: Good air-conditioning is crucial especially during these long hot dry summer days and nights; like a lot of buildings in Santa Monica, particularly older ones (the building that this private small studio is in is quite old and a bit rundown)- there is no central air - at least none that is working; so the studio relies on standalone air conditioning's that you would purchase at Home Depot. And unfortunately given how hot it is right now, they were not substantial to keep the place cool through the 50 minutes of a work out. I had to ask a few times if there was anyway to make it cooler; and while all devices differ, the overall temperature throughout our session was around 78 to 79° (it was 84 degrees outside according to my Iphone). This obviously would not be an issue during the cooler months when Santa Monica's overall temperature would be in the high 60s to low 70s. Equipment was all in good shape; not all brand new but it's still well-kept. For some reason the studio was kept in the dark - there were no lights on and bamboo shades were drawn so the whole session was pretty much in semi darkness; I'm not sure what the reason for that was other than to help keep the temperature down. It made for a bit of a gloomy overall tone to the session. I could've asked if we could turn on the lights, but given that the air-conditioning was already struggling, thought it more important to keep it as cool as possible and guessed that was the reason for all lights being off. There is no water offered in the studio; you'll want to bring your own. And there is a small dog that did leap on me as I entered and was active and running around at a few points during the session. This is definitely something that is of course completely personal preference - but I always find it compassionate and helpful when an owner lets you know that there will be a small animal running around in the studio; I prefer a completely clean studio with no animals, and wish this had been clearly mentioned during any one of our conversations leading up to our first session. (Upon entering the dog was removed from my feet, and I was told would remain in his little bed set up by the Cadillac; however that was not the case). If you're a dog person, or don't mind a small animal occasionally walking around during your session, then this won't be an issue. KATY's excellence as an instructor outweighs these small negatives; and if you live/work in Santa Monica or close to Pico and Main, it's definitely worth checking out!
